1. Introduction
1.1 Features
The MK350D is a li htwei ht, portable, easy-to-operate LED
meter with Micro SDCard data stora e. This product has basic
features for fast, easy Li ht Measurements.
Records over 27 li ht unit-of-measures; Basic List items
(CCT, RA, CIE1976 , CIE1931, LUX, FC, LambdaP, R9, Flicker);
uSPECTRUM PC link items (LambdaPV, R1-R15,
Wavelen th Spectrum Intensities).
All-in-one LED meter – no other equipment necessary (e. .
PC, power supply etc.)
Supports Micro SD card data stora e for measurement
data
Pocket-sized portability
Flicker measurement
Can be used with the uSPECTRUM PC software to interface
with PCs, providin for full screen Spectrum and
Chromaticity analysis (explained in uSPECTRUM Manual)
Can be remote controlled by Bluetooth devices usin
uSPECTRUM App Software.

1.4 Annual Product calibration
This product is a hi h-precision measurement device with
sensitive components – please handle with care. To ensure
the accuracy of measurements, it is recommended to have
the unit calibrated once a year. Please contact your a ent or
our customer service department for calibration service.
1.5 Product notes and precautions
The MK350D LED Meter contains sensitive components.
Please unpack with care, as any trauma to the unit may
dama e the equipment. Contact your a ent if the unit
appears not to be operatin normally. Do not attempt any
repairs – all repairs must be performed by qualified service
a ents.
Precautions/Warnin s： Please read the followin
precautions to avoid fire, excessive heat, chemical leaka e
and explosion.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product
- Do not expose the product to heat (fire) or
water/moisture.
- When disposin the product, wrap with insulation tape
to shield the internal battery from electrical contact
with metallic objects, which mi ht i nite a fire or
explosion.
- If the unit is plu ed into the power adapter and the
product seems to be overheatin , or if there is smoke

or peculiar odors emanatin from the unit, unplu
immediately to avoid the possibility of fire.
- However, do not touch the cables if there is heat
emanatin from near the cables, as melted or
deformed cables could expose wirin and result in
burns or electric shock.
- Do not use cloth or anythin to wrap or cover the
equipment while char in – this could cause the unit
to overheat, meltin the casin or causin fire.
- If the unit is accidently immersed in water, or if
moisture has seeped inside, or metal objects have
dropped into the casin , immediately remove to avoid
fire or electric shock.
- Do not operate or store the product in hi h-
temperature environments - it will cause the internal
battery to leak and/or shorten the life of the battery .
- Do not use paint thinner, benzene or other or anic
solvents to clean the unit – this may dama e the
exterior finish, and may even i nite fire.

2. Getting Started
This section describes how to et started by char in the
internal battery in the MK350D and then takin a quick
measurement. Note that some of the references to buttons
and li hts are described in the Product Description section.
1. Remove the MK350D
unit and the USB
Char er supplied in
the packa in and
connect one end of
the Char er cable to
the MK350D and the
other end into a wall
socket with the
appropriate volta e. The indicator li ht will illuminate
oran e indicatin that it is char in . The li ht will turn
reen when fully char ed. For first time use, char e the
battery for at least 6 hours.
Taking a measurement
While your unit is char in , you can start takin
measurements with the power adaptor plu ed in or you can
wait until the unit is fully char ed.

2. First slide the “Sensor Cover” over the sensor lens.
3. Then turn on the MK350D by pressin the On/Off button
on the side of the unit. The indicator li ht will illuminate
reen and a UPRtek splash screen will display.
Note: If you are usin a USB Char er, the MK350D will
automatically turn itself on.

After the splash screen, a Dark Calibration label will
display indicatin that a Dark Calibration is in pro ress.
When Dark Calibration is complete, the screen will
indicate so – Dark Calibration usually takes about 10-11
seconds.

4. Slide the Sensor Cover so that the Sensor is visible a ain.
The first screen will display the Date & Time, Optic
Number and Version Number. The battery level indicator
is on the ri ht. If the unit is char in , a li htnin bolt will
appear over the battery symbol.

5. Hold the MK350D as shown with the Sensor facin toward
the front, in the direction of a li ht source and press the
“Measure” button
at the top of
MK350D. It will
take about 3
seconds to measure
the li ht source,
after which it will
respond with a
beep to indicate
completion.
(Note: you may et a messa e that the SD Card is not
installed – disre ard this messa e for now)
The screen will display CCT, CRI, LUX and LambdaP.
Press the On/Off button once to o to the next screen.

6. The next screen shows the Wavelen th Spectrum.
Press the On/Off button once to o to the next screen.
7. The next screen shows the CIE 1931 x, y coordinates and
the CIE 1976 u’, v’ coordinates.
Press the On/Off button once to o to the next screen.

8. This next screen shows the R9 value, LUX value, FC (foot
candle) value and the Flicker Percenta e.
9. Finally, to turn off the MK350D, press the On/Off button
and keep it depressed for at least 3 seconds.

Product egistration
1. At this point, please register your product at our website
to ensure maximum warranty and service benefits.
2. When you
initially turn on
the MK350D, it
will display the
Optic number
(OPT:).
3. Write down the Optic number and, usin a PC, access
http://www.uprtek.com/en lish/Re ister_00.asp, and o
to “Contact Us-> MK350 Product Re ister”.
Follow the directions on the screen to complete the
re istration – a successful re istration will provide you
with a license file, which you can place on a MicroSD card.
After the card is inserted into your MK350D, the license
will be auto-applied to the MK350D and the Version
Number (below the Opt number) will show “-CCS”.

3. Additional Setup and Notes
3.1 Micro SDCard
This unit can write LED
measurement data onto
a Micro SD Card
(supports up to 1 GB).
Simply insert the card
into the card reader slot.
All data that is captured
is written to excel files
(.xls).
Even without an SDCard, the MK350D is able to capture data
and keep the current measurement in memory.
You can review the
SDCard data by accessin
it throu h a PC by usin
the USB cable provided
in the packa in . After
cable connection, the
SDCard will display on
your PC as a new drive
letter.
You can find the data on the SDCard under the “Data”
directory. There will be subdirectories marked with a
sequential number “e. . 0001”. Each directory can hold up to
100 capture files, after which the next sequential subdirectory
will be created (e. . 0002).

Each capture will be contained in its own Excel file with a
namin convention of ESPD_XXXX, where XXXX is a sequential
number (e. . 0001, 0002). Additional data such as Inte ration
Time, R1-R9, LambdaPV and all of the intensity data for each
wavelen th in the Wavelen th Spectrum are all available in
the file.

3.2 Setting the Date/Time on your MK350D
By plu in your MK350D into your PC usin the USB cable
supplied, the MK350D will automatically sync up its Date/Time
to the PC. The Date/Time will also sync from a smart device if
you use the smart device to make a Bluetooth connection to
the MK350D (note that this Bluetooth connection is also used
to interface with Smart Devices for remote control).
3.3 Lanyard strap
You can attach a lanyard
(neck strap) onto the rin
at the bottom of the
MK350D.
3.4 More about Dark Calibration
Dark Calibration is performed by the MK350D to clear static
char e from its Sensor (CMOS). This static char e can obscure
measurement data if not occasionally cleared.
If the Sensor Cover is coverin the Sensor while you power on,
a Dark Calibration is performed – otherwise Dark Calibration is
not performed.
It is ood practice to perform a dark calibration every time
you turn on the MK350D, when you move to a different

temperature environment (hot to cold or cold to hot), or
when you move to a different li ht intensity environment
(li ht to dark or dark to li ht).
With Dark Calibration, the unit will take about 10-11 seconds
to initialize, otherwise it will take 5-6 seconds.

4. Miscellaneous
4.1 Tripod attachment
If you detach the
lanyard screw on the
bottom of the MK350D,
it will expose a screw
hole where you can
attach a tripod for
hands-free LED
measurements.
4.2 System eset
If for any reason you
need to perform a
system reset, you can
use a pointer to press
into the Reset Hole as
shown ri ht.

4.3 uSPECT UM PC/Smart Device software
The MK350D can also interface with a PC usin the
uSPECTRUM PC Software, which provides a much richer
functional and visual environment.
The MK350D can also be remote controlled by an Apple IOS or
Android smart device, usin a Bluetooth connection.
