6. INSTALLATION OF THE PRODUCT
Perform the following steps for the installation of the Product.
Outside every room where Far UV-C light is used, there must be information signs in clear line of
sight.
Installation must be done according to the local regulations by a qualified installer.
6.1. Choose the appropriate location
Choosing the appropriate location is important for the proper functioning and safe use of the
Product.
A DIALux simulation can help choosing the right position for optimal disinfection.
Install the Product in a protected area where the temperature does not fall below -10° C (14° F)
and the humidity remains within the Product's specifications. The Product functions ideally in a
temperature range from -10° to +50° C (14° to 122° F).
Select a Product mounting location that is close to surface/area that you want to disinfect.
6.2. Unboxing and inspection
Read and save all notices, warnings, and safety instructions received with the Product.
Open the box and carefully take the unit out of the box. Take the unit out of the plastic bag. Do
not remove the protection label on the front of the Product. The protection label is intended to

on the
unit
until
installed by a qualified installer!
CAUTION: Do not touch the glass of
the lamp without gloves. Doing so may result in damage to the
lamp. Oil from fingerprints will permanently etch the glass of the lamp and
weaken the structure.
6.3. Product installation
The unit must be attached to a surface by means of at least 4 mounting pins, near electrical
wires with grounding.
The mounting pins and surface must be strong enough to hold 4 times the weight of the unit.

CONSTRUCTION

UV222 Industrial Technical & Installation Manual
Take out the nut and M10 bolt that keeps the mounting plate attached to the unit.
The mounting plate can be now installed to the surface with 4 mm screws or M4 bolts:
6.4. Change of the power cable
Far UV-C lamps must be operated continuously from a separate, dedicated, 85-305 V 50/60Hz
power lead.
Standard wiring: Phase / Hot + (brown) (black) Neutral / Cold –
(blue) (white)
Earth (green/yellow) (green)
How to wire the Product
1) Remove all screws and take off the back plate. A
2) Unscrew 2x ph1 (cable blockage). B
3) Unscrew nuts for cable connections. C 4) Rewire the connector correctly.
5) Put cable trough service plate and screw back the cable blockage.
6) Screw the backplate in place.
6.5. Understanding the unit’s operation
The maximum permissible UV-C exposure shall not exceed the ACGIH TLV and NIOSH REL of 22.0
mJ/cm² for an 8 h day, 40 h work week exposure to UV radiation at 222 nm. (UV Medico A/S
expects positive changes into the ACGIH that will result in a higher exposure than allowed at this
moment. If this changes, UV Medico A/S will update the software of the unit to align with the
new threshold of exposure).

UV222 Industrial Technical & Installation Manual
To achieve the correct radiation within these limits, following information will be programmed
into the Product before the beginning of this installation.
6.6. Setting up the Product
The installer will need a Microsoft Windows computer with the UV Medico application installed.
Contact your distributor to get access to the latest software and firmware for the Product.
To launch the app, go to the installed folder and open the file: UV
Medico Configuration App.exe
The app includes two different set up modes: simple and advanced.
For the simple mode, follow the instructions that will appear on the screen.
For the advanced mode, see below:
Remove the cap on the bottom
of the unit to access the USB-C
connection D and connect to a
computer with a USB cable.
When you connect your
computer to the unit, it will
show up automatically on the
application.
Once the app is launched,
follow the next steps:
1) If the Product was already installed, you can recover its settings by pressing “Get”. All
settings will then be shown in the application. A
2) Check if firmware version is the latest. If not, press “Update FW”. B
10 11

UV222 Industrial Technical & Installation Manual
Select the correct firmware version Cand press “Open” to upload.
When the app asks to confirm, click on "Yes".
When finished installing, the firmware should be up to date.
The date and hour are now the same as your computer.
4) Define the timing of the use (duty cycle) of the room where the Product is installed:
“On time”: Time from which the room will be occupied by people. E
“Off time”: Time from which the room will not be occupied. F
5) Add the “Maximum Occupant Time”: how long the room is occupied during the duty cycle.
A
12 13

UV222 Industrial Technical & Installation Manual
7) Change the intensity of the LED signal to the desired output. C
8) Select mode. D
•"Normal": The Product will follow the settings as provided.
•"Only on when movement”: The Product only will turn on when the radar detects
movement. The “Pir active time” option allows to set how many minutes the cycle will run
after movement is detected.
•"Always on, only 'Safety off distance' is enabled": The Product will only turn off when
something gets closer than the selected safety off distance.
9) Add 3 distances:
a. “Distance to eye height”: Closest distance from the unit to the eye of a human, taking
into account the use of the room and people walking around. A
b. “Safety off distance”: Closest distance people are allowed to get to the lamp before
it turns itself off. The unit will turn itself back on after 10 sec. when/if the safety distance
is regained. B
c. “Primary surface distance”: Distance from the unit to the main surface to disinfect. If
there are multiple surfaces, take the one closest to the lamp. C
All measurements are in centimetres.
14 15

UV222 Industrial Technical & Installation Manual
If movement in the room is detected during the pre or post disinfection cycle, the unit will start its duty cycle
again, and will resume its pre or post disinfection cycle after no more movement is detected.
If during the duty cycle, something/someone comes closer to the unit than the programmed safety off distance,
the Product will automatically stop, and it will resume the activity 10 sec. after the security distance is cleared.
If the information programmed into the Product when installed is different than the use/occupancy of the room,
UV Medico A/S cannot be held liable for any injuries or misuse of these units.
If there are changes in the use, occupancy or any other altenrations that has an influence on the risks of
exposure, the installer needs to be contacted so the Product is reprogrammed.
12) Testing the Product.
Right click on the photo of the Product Aand a pop up of the test mode will show up. Here you can quickly light
up the Product and test the signal LED.
When you activate the 222 LightSource B , it will turn on the Product with no safety. This is only to test the
source, (the box “Enable“ will be automatically ticked).
Once this information is saved and programmed into the unit, it is ready to test/start up.
The unit will
calculate the radiation automatically to stay within the limits of the ACGIH like the example below:
16 17

When you go to LED Mode you have 3 options:
•“Normal Mode”: Work as the Product is programmed.
•“LED Off”: Turns the LED off.
•“LED RGBW Off”: LED test cycle.
When you untick the “Enable” box it goes back to normal configuration/use.
When configuration is done, disconnect the USB cable and screw the cap on gently, withtout force.
