For 220VAC power 220V to 115VAC step-down tr nsformer is required. A sm ll 220V to
115V step-down tr nsformer with two round Europe n pins is v il ble from UV SYSTEMS t
n ddition l ch rge. It is p rt number SB005b.
G. RULE OF THUMB USE AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The rule of thumb is if you use the b ttery until the SuperBright II is notice bly dim or the l mp
will not rest rt, then the b ttery is fully disch rged. The ex ct number of hours of use on fully
ch rged b ttery is dependent on sever l f ctors, such s how long your SuperBright II is on
every time your turn it “on”, how m ny times you turn it “on”, how long between uses (the
b ttery will recover some when not being used), nd the tot l current dr in on the b ttery. The
PSH-1280 F2 or UB1280 b ttery should conserv tively oper te SuperBright II for bout 7
hours on full ch rge.
If the b ttery if fully disch rged, you should plug in the ch rger s soon s you c n nd le ve the
ch rger plugged in for t le st 32 hours (36 hours recommended). Some m y w nt to purch se
n extr B2 b ttery p ck so th t they c n h ve one ch rging while one is being used. Also extr
b tteries re v il ble from UV SYSTEMS. If you only use the b ttery with the SuperBright II
for few hours of intermitted use, then your b ttery m y not need to be rech rged for sever l
d ys. If you do rech rge when it is not fully disch rged, it will not t ke s long to rech rge it.
However, it is import nt th t the b ttery be sto ed fully cha ged. When the b ttery is just
sitting unused, it is recommended th t it should be fully rech rged bout every nine (9) months.
The hotter the mbient stor ge temper ture of the b ttery, the more often it should be rech rged,
s y every five (5) months in very hot we ther or if stored next to he t source such s furn ce.
A le d- cid b ttery will hold its ch rge much better in cold we ther (the cold reduces the self-
disch rge of the b ttery). However, the b ttery should never be llowed to sit for longer th n
twelve (12) months without being ch rged, reg rdless of the b ttery mbient temper ture. These
recommend tions re designed to optimize the life of your b ttery. Shorter ch rging times (less
th n 32 hours for disch rged b ttery) or longer stor ge times (longer th n 1 ye r) between
ch rges could reduce the life of your b ttery, th t is, the number of ch rge/disch rge cycles.
H. COLD TEMPERATURE STORAGE AND CAPACITY
Although the b ttery will hold its ch rge in cold temper ture the cold temper ture, reduces the
c p city of the b ttery. Therefore in very cold temper tures 32˚F (0˚C) the c p city of the
b ttery will be only pproxim tely 70% of wh t it would be t 68˚F (20˚C).
CHARGE THE BATTERY AFTER EVERY COMPLETE DISCHARGE and cha ge the
batte y at least eve y nine (9) months even if you haven't used it.
I. BATTERY LIFE
The PowerSonic PSH-1280 F2 or Univers l UB1280 b ttery should l st from 200 to 500 ch rge/
disch rge cycles depending on ver ge depth of disch rge. End of life is defined s when the
b ttery c n only chieve 80% of it origin l c p city. Repl cement b tteries re v il ble from
UV SYSTEMS. A det iled Power Sonic technic l h ndbook bout se led le d- cid b tteries is
v il ble from the Power Sonic Corpor tion or UV SYSTEMS.
J. TRANSPORTING THE BATTERY ABOARD ANY COMMERCIAL AIRCHAFT
The b ttery m nuf ctured by Power-Sonic or Univers l is of non-spill ble m nuf cture using
st rved electrolyte.
They m y be tr nsported bo rd ny commerci l ircr ft with no restrictions ccording to the
following regul tions.
