Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the VTech®Royal Learning Piano!
Through four engaging modes of play your child will love learning
instruments, objects, animals and more. Turn the pages and press the
buttons to hear cute stories, fun phrases, music and sounds. Move the
mouse to hear short tunes and princess manners. With flashing lights
and Princess Sofia’s real voice you can play and learn the royal way!

WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic
sheets, packaging locks and tags are not part
of this toy, and should be discarded for your
child’s safety.
NOTE: Please keep the user’s manual as it contains important
information.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the
unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the
screw.
3. Install 3 new “AA” (LR6/AM-3) batteries
following the diagram inside the battery
box. (The use of new, alkaline batteries is
recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the
screw to secure.

Unlock the packaging locks:
Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees
anti-clockwise.
Pull out the packaging locks.

Disposal of batteries and product
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and
batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they
must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain
substances that can be damaging to the environment and
human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate
that the battery contains more than the specied value of
mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in Battery
Directive (2006/66/EC).
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the
market after 13th August, 2005.

Slide the ON/OFF SWITCH from the OFF ( )
position to the ON ( ) position to turn the unit on.
Slide the ON/OFF SWITCH from the ON ( )
position to the OFF ( ) position to turn the unit off.

Press the MODE BUTTONS to choose one of the
four modes of play.
3. 6 PAGE STORY BOOK
Turn the pages to change the theme and story in each
mode.
4. 5 LIGHT-UP MUSIC NOTE BUTTONS
Press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC NOTE BUTTONS to
hear stories, learn instruments, objects and animals,
hearmusicandsoundsortoanswerquestions.
5. 8 PIANO KEYS
Press the PIANO KEYS to play the piano.
6. DRUM BUTTON
Press the DRUM BUTTON to hear a story, a new
questionorfundrumsounds.
7. 4 DIRECTION MOUSE
Move the 4 DIRECTION MOUSE to hear short
tunes followed by princess manners.

8. VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
Slide the VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to select
from low, medium or high volume.
9. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Royal Learning Piano will
automatically turn off after several minutes without input. The unit can
be turned on again by pressing any button or piano key.
ACTIVITIES
MODE 1: STORY TIME
Press the DRUM BUTTON to hear a story or press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC
NOTE BUTTONS to play the story one sentence at a time. Turn the page
for another different story.
MODE 2: MUSIC FUN
Press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC NOTE BUTTONS to hear instrument sounds
and melodies. When you turn to pages 5 and 6, press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC
NOTE BUTTONS while a melody is playing to add animal sounds to the
music. Press the DRUM BUTTON to hear fun drum sounds.
MODE 3: QUESTION TIME
Whenyouenterthismodeyouwillbeaskedaquestionrelatedtothepage
shown. Press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC NOTE BUTTONS to answer the
questions.PresstheDRUM BUTTONtohearanewquestion.
MODE 4: LIFE AT THE CASTLE
Press the LIGHT-UP MUSIC NOTE BUTTONS to learn instruments and
their sounds, objects and animals. Press the DRUM BUTTON to hear fun
drum sounds.

Care & Maintenance / Troubleshooting
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period
of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to
moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions,
pleasefollowthesesteps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
