ThankyouforpurchasingVTech®MagicPaws™learningtoy! Thisproduct
is one of a family of high quality electronic learning toys. We at VTech®
are committed to providing the best possible products to entertain and

The VTech®Magic Paws™ is a soft and cuddly plush bear designed for
infants from ages birth and up. This friendly bear has four interactive
sensors that trigger friendly phrases, lights, sound effects, and music.
The VTech®Magic Paws™ will act as a companion throughout baby’s
early years of development.

WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire
ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be
discarded for your child’s safety.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned off.
2. Open the velcro opening located on the
back of the unit. Locate the battery cover
onthe back ofthe unit. Use ascrewdriver
to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 new “AA” (UM-3/LR6) batteries
following the diagram inside the battery
box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is
recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replacethebatterycoverandtightenthescrewtosecurethebatterycover.
BATTERYNOTICE
• Installbatteriescorrectlyobservingthepolarity(+,-)signstoavoidleakage.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not use batteries of different types.
• Remove batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used
for an extended period of time.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
• Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are
to be used.

NOTE: Iffor any reason the program/activitystopsworking,pleasefollow
these steps:
1. Turn the unitOFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Lettheunitstandforafewminutes,thenreplacethebatteries.
4. Turn the unitON.The unitshould now beready toplay again.

CRIB ATTACHMENT
To attach The VTech®Magic Paws™ to the crib,
unfasten the velcro bow tie and attach to the side
of the crib.
TO BEGIN PLAY
1. Slide the PLAYTIME/OFF/SOOTHING
MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the
PLAYTIME MODE ( ) or SOOTHING
MODE ( ) position to turn the unit ON.
You will hear a short tune. The LIGHT-UP
PAWS will flash with the sound.
2. To adjust the volume, slide the HIGH / LOW
VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the ( )
position for HIGH VOLUME or the ( )
positionforLOW VOLUME.

3. Slide the PLAYTIME/OFF/SOOTHING
MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the OFF ( )
position to turn the unit OFF.
Note: The VTech®Magic Paws™learning toy
will automatically turn off after about 30
seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by
pressinganybutton,shakingthebear,oractivatingthesoundsensor.
ACTIVITIES
PLAYTIME MODE
1. Turn on the unit by sliding the PLAYTIME/
OFF/SOOTHING MODE SELECTOR
SWITCHtothe PLAYTIME MODE position
( ). You will hear a short tune. The
LIGHT-UPPAWS will flashwiththesound.
2. Wave your hand in front of the bow tie to
activatetheproximitysensor. Youwill hear
“Peek-a-boo” and a giggle sound effect.
TheLIGHT-UPPAWSwillflashwiththesound.
3. Press one of thePAW PRESS BUTTONS
tohear “Patty-Cake, Patty-Cake”followed
by a short tune.The LIGHT-UP PAWS will
flash from paw to paw.

4. PressoneoftheFOOTPRESSBUTTONS
to hear either “Koochy coo” or a giggle
sound effect. The LIGHT-UP PAWS will
flashaccordingtowhichfoot waspressed.
5. Gently shake the bear to hear “Weee!” or
random melodies. The LIGHT-UP PAWS
will flash with the sound.
6. Gently shake the bear while a melody is
playing to hear “Weee!” play on top of the
melody.
7. The VTech®Magic Paws™ will automatically shut-off after several
seconds without input. The unit can be re-activated by the sound
sensor. Whenany background noiseisdetected,youwillhear "Grrr!",
"Bear Hug!" The LIGHT-UP PAWS will flash with the sound.
SOOTHING MODE
1. Turn on the unit by sliding the PLAYTIME/
OFF/SOOTHING MODE SELECTOR
SWITCH to the SOOTHIING MODE ( ).
You will hear “Shhhh, be beary beary
quiet!” followed by a short tune. The
LIGHT-UPPAWS will flash with thesound.

to hear either “Koochy coo!” or a giggle
sound. The LIGHT-UP PAWS will flash
according to which foot was pressed.
5. PressoneoftheFOOTPRESSBUTTONS
while a melody is playing to hear “Koochy
coo!” or a giggle sound play on top of the
melody.
6. Gently shake the bear to hear "Shhhh" or
akisssoundeffect.TheLIGHT-UPPAWS
will flash with the sound.

7. Gently shake the bear while a melody is
playing to hear “Shhhh” or kiss sound play
on top of the melody.
8. The VTech®Magic Paws™ will automatically shut-off after several
seconds without input. The unit can be re-activated by the sound
sensor. Whenanybackgroundnoiseisdetected,youwillhear"Shhhh,
be beary quiet!" and random melodies. The LIGHT-UP PAWS will
flash with the sound.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit away from direct sunlight and heat source.

3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended
period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to
moisture or water.
