or gas supplier. These instructions are
to be used in conjunction with the main
installation instructions for the above
listed models.
Overview
The 720SWK Sidewall Co-Linear Terminal Kit allows ap-
proved Valor units listed above only to be vented using
approved 3-inch flexible vent liners to penetrate an ex-
isting masonry solid-fuel burning fireplace and connect
to 720SWK horizontal termination rather than a vertical
termination at the top of the chimney.
530 models. 530IN/IP model fireplaces will also require
a 556CLA Co-Linear Adapter. 530 model fireplaces do
not require de-rating. This kit cannot be used with the
530CSK Coal effect fuel bed.
739-72ILN/ILP models. Use of this kit requires the stan-
dard 739-72ILN/ILP fireplace to be modified by remov-
ing the inlet air restrictors only. No derating is necessary
with this model.
RF24JDN/JDP with RA24CL models. Use of this kit
requires a RF24JD firebox with a RA24CL Co-linear Vent
Plate. Note: The vent restrictor plates located within inlet
collar of the co-linear vent plate will need to be adjust-
ed—see RF24JD installation section of this manual.
1000KN/KP models. Use of this kit requires a 1000CLA
Co-Linear Adapter.

Attaching Air Restrictors—
Appliances with more than 5’-0” Vertical Vent Rise Only
No restrictors are required for appliances which that have less than 5’-0” vertical run.
If installing an appliance which has less than 5’-0” vertical vent pipe rise, ignore this
stage.
Two restrictors, like the one shown right, are supplied with each 530 engine unit. The
restrictors cover part of the inlet air openings in the firebox rear wall on each side of
the brick support. Do NOT install the restrictors in the roof of the firebox!
Each restrictor is assembled with an adjustable piece which can be moved to different
positions depending of the vent configuration. See the table below to find out which
position is optimal for each type of installation.
• To fit the restrictors, loosen the two center screws of the left and right inlet ports.
Place the restrictor assembly under the screw heads and tighten the center screws.
• To set the adjustable restrictor piece, loosen the two screws, position the adjustable
piece according to the diagram below and tighten the screws. Adjustable

Modify the appliance (NG and LPG units)
This procedure may be done before or after installing
the appliance into the masonry cavity.
1. Remove the inlet air restrictor discs.
a. Remove rear log support held in place by two
screws at the rear and two on front tags behind
burner rail.
b. Remove air duct held in place by two screws at
the top and one screw on each side.
c. Remove two restrictor discs held in place by
three fixing screws of the six visible (remove
every second screw).
d. Reinstall air duct and log support.

RF24JDN/JDP with RA24CL ONLY
Air Restrictors Position
In vent plate, reset (open-up) air restrictors for
installations where vertical vent rise is between
3 and 5 feet.
For installations over 5 feet, leave restrictors in
supplied position (mid-point).
Release 4 screws and push restrictors outward
to open up vent. Tighten screws.

Apply warning plate supplied with replace
to inside of existing masonry replace
Prepare existing masonry fireplace
A few points must be considered before inserting the
gas fireplace into an existing fireplace cavity. Verify
the structural integrity of the existing fireplace before
installing the gas insert and liners. Components that are
bolted or screwed on such as dampers or baffles may
be removed to accommodate the installation of the gas
fireplace. Check with local authorities if in doubt.
Clean Fireplace and Chimney
Have the chimney swept and the fireplace cavity
including ash dumps and clean-outs cleaned before
installing the gas fireplace and vent liners. Any creosote
or soot residue remaining in the fireplace cavity chimney
or clean-out may cause odors or stains once the gas
fireplace is installed. Consult with chimney sweep for
information on how best to clean.
Existing Dampers
Dampers in masonry fireplaces must be fixed open and
may remain in place.
Gas Line Routing
Plan the routing of the gas line before proceeding.
See Dimensions section of the heater installation
manual for detailed location of gas inlet. Also, take into
consideration whether or not a fan or shut-off valve will
interfere when planning routing of the gas line.
Existing Glass Doors and Wire Screens
Existing glass doors must be permanently removed
prior to installing the gas fireplace.
Combustible Mantels
Combustible mantel clearances must conform to those
required for the original solid-fuel fireplace into which
the gas fireplace is being installed.
Attach Conversion Plate to Existing Fireplace
739-72, RF24JD: supplied loose with appliance;
530: supplied with 556CLA;
1000K: supplied with 1000CLA
Attach the “This fireplace has been converted...” label to
the existing fireplace using screws or other mechanical
means and store any removed parts in back of the
existing fireplace for future use.

Considerations
• Intake and exhaust liners must correspond between
heater and sidewall termination.
• Ensure liners do not sag and are not crimped when
installing.
• Do not bend liners less than 3” radius.
1. Carefully drill or chisel a hole at the appropriate
height into the outside wall of the fireplace using the
diagram shown below as a guide.
Alternately, a standard cast iron chimney clean-out
frame may be used to frame the hole and the cover
or door stored in the fireplace cavity for future.

2. Rough-in approved 3-inch aluminum flex liners
through the existing fireplace damper and leave
enough protruding through the hole in the exterior
masonry to connect terminal.
3. Connect the liners to the sidewall terminal using
minimum 3 sheet metal screws per liner. Note which
liner is the exhaust.
4. Fasten the sidewall terminal to the masonry chimney
using screws and anchors (not supplied). Note the
asymmetrical overlap of the hole for the liners
when mounting the terminal. Seal the flanges of the
terminal to the masonry using silicone sealant.
5. Carefully pull any excess liner down within the
existing fireplace cavity ensuring the liners do not sag
and are not crimped or torn.
6. Connect the liners to the collars on fireplace using 3
screws per liner or gear clamps. Ensure the exhaust
liner is connected to the exhaust collar.

7. 530 & RF24J models. Proceed to step 8.
739-72ILN/ILP models. Once installed, apply the
conversion label provided with this kit to the bottom
floor of the appliance as close as possible to the
rating plate.
8. Continue with the fireplace installation according to
the manual provided with the fireplace.

Concept
La Sortie d’évacuation colinéaire murale 720SWK permet
l’évacuation au mur pour les foyers certifiés indiqués
ci-dessus par raccord à conduits flex de 3 pouces
certifiés, pénétrant un foyer de maçonnerie existant
à combustibles solides et se branchant à la sortie
d’évacuation horizontale 720SWK plutôt qu’une sortie
verticale sur la cheminée.
Foyers 530. Les foyers 530IN/IP exigent également
un Raccord colinéaire 556CLA. La puissance nominale
(deration) n’a pas besoin d’être réduite pour les foyers
530. Notez que la sortie 720SWK ne peut pas être
utilisée sur les foyers utilisant les Charbons 530CSK.
Foyers 739-72ILN/ILP. L’utilisation de cette sortie exige
que le foyer standard 739-72ILN/ILP soit modifié en
enlevant les restricteurs d’air seulement. La puissance
