1. Introduction

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of
the device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not
dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it
should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device
should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling

install or use it and contact your dealer.
2. Safety Instructions
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children shall be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
Do not crimp the power cord and protect it against damage.
Warning! If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced
by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid any hazard.
Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed the
voltage stated in the specifications of this manual.
Plug the power cord into a suitable, earthed mains outlet.
Risk of electroshock when opening the cover. Touching live
wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks. Do not
disassemble or open the housing yourself. Have the device
repaired by qualified personnel.
Do not operate the device with wet hands.

Always disconnect mains power when the device is not in use
or when servicing or maintenance activities are performed.
Handle the power cord by the plug only.
Caution! After switching off, leave the power cord plugged
in for a few minutes. When you switch off the unit, the
automatic cooling function blows cooling air through the heater
pipe for a short period. This protects the heater from damage
and extends its lifetime. Do not disconnect the mains plug
during this cooling process.
Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain, moisture,
splashing and dripping liquids. Never put objects filled with
liquids on top of or close to the device.
Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive
atmospheres. Heat can cause fire to inflammable products
even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly
ventilated rooms.
Incorrect use may cause fire.
Do not touch the shafts, tips, or hot air gun as this can cause
serious burns. Keep the tips and hot air away from the body,
clothes, or other flammable material. Do not aim the hot air
gun at the eyes. Use gloves and/or heat-resistant tools to pick
up the PCB assembly to prevent burns. Always return the irons
and gun to their stands between uses; always let the device
cool down after use and before storage.
Place the device on a level, stable, and fire resistant working
surface.
Do not inhale solder fumes. The vapours that are released
during soldering are harmful. Therefore, you shall only use the
soldering station in well-ventilated areas or under an exhaust
hood (solder fume extractor). Dispose of fume filters and
solder residue in accordance with local regulations.
Never use the device on live electronic circuits. Make sure
power to the work piece is cut and capacitors are discharged.
Do not block the hot air gun nozzle. This may cause heat
reflection and may damage the heating element.
Warning! This tool must be placed on its stand when not in
use; do not leave the tool unattended when switched on.
Use the soldering iron on a heatproof workbench.
Place the soldering iron in its holder after use.

Let a hot soldering iron cool down naturally and do not immerse in water.
3. General Guidelines
Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages
of this manual.
Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when
operating the device.
Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and dripping
liquids.
Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually
using it.
All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage
caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the
warranty.
Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an
unauthorised way will void the warranty.
Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not
covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for
any ensuing defects or problems.
Nor Velleman nor its dealers can be held responsible for any damage
(extraordinary, incidental or indirect) –of any nature (financial,
physical…) arising from the possession, use or failure of this product.

6. Operation
1. Carefully unpack the soldering station [5] and check all parts. Do not
use if the soldering station or any other part is visibly damaged.
2. Mount the iron holder [3] onto the station and put the soldering
iron [6] in its holder. Lightly moisten the sponge [4] with some tap
water.

3. Mount the appropriate soldering tip according to the soldering job (see
below Replacing the Tip).
4. Place the station onto a heatproof, flat and solid surface. Connect the
soldering station to the mains and switch on with the on-off
switch [1].
5. Turn the temperature-setting knob [2] and select the desired
temperature setting according to the colour codes:
yellow:
± 150 °C
orange:
± 150 °C to 270 °C
red:
± 150 °C to 500 °C
6. Wait 2 to 3 minutes until the soldering tip has reached the selected
temperature. Test the tip temperature by touching it with solder. The
tip is hot enough when the solder melts away easily.
7. Tin the hot tip with solder and wipe any excess solder by brushing the
tip slightly onto the moist sponge.
8. Heat up the soldering point with the solder-covered tip and add some
solder. Let the soldering point cool down.
9. Clean the soldering tip on the sponge after each soldering. Place the
soldering iron back in its holder, switch off and unplug from the mains
after use. Let the soldering iron cool down, store away in a dry place
and in its original packaging.
7. Replacing the Tip
1. Switch off the soldering station and disconnect from the mains. Let the
soldering iron and tip cool down and come to room temperature before
handling.
2. Unscrew the knurled nut barrel assembly. Pull out the tip from the iron
and remove any oxide that may have formed on the barrel. Be careful
to avoid getting dust in your eyes.
3. Replace the tip with another tip and screw the knurled nut barrel
assembly onto the iron using only hand pressure to tighten. Do not
apply excessive pressure to avoid damage.
4. Only use pliers to retighten slightly if the tip is loosening with a hot
iron.
8. Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean the housing with a damp cloth and some mild detergent if
necessary. Never submerge the soldering station in liquid or allow any
liquid enter the housing. Do not use solvents.

1. Inleiding

Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product
Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het
na zijn levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan
toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele
batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij
een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet
dit toestel naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt
brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.
Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten
betreffende de verwijdering.
Dank u voor uw aankoop! Lees deze handleiding grondig voor u het toestel
in gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het transport,

2. Veiligheidsinstructies
Dit toestel is niet geschikt voor gebruik door personen
(kinderen inbegrepen) met verminderde fysieke, zintuiglijke of
geestelijke capaciteiten of gebrek aan ervaring en kennis,
tenzij zij onder toezicht staan of instructie hebben gekregen
over het gebruik van het toestel van een persoon die
verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid.
Houd toezicht op kinderen om te voorkomen dat ze met het
toestel spelen.
De voedingskabel mag niet beschadigd zijn of ingekort worden.
Waarschuwing! Indien de voedingskabel beschadigd is, dan
moet deze door de fabrikant, diens servicedienst, of een
gelijkwaardig bekwaam persoon vervangen worden om gevaar
te voorkomen.
De beschikbare netspanning mag niet hoger zijn dan de
spanning in de specificaties achteraan de handleiding.
Steek de stekker in een geschikt, geaard stopcontact.
Elektrocutiegevaar bij het openen van het toestel. Raak geen
kabels aan die onder stroom staan om dodelijke elektrische
schokken te vermijden. Open de behuizing niet zelf. Laat het
onderhoud van het toestel over aan een geschoolde vakman.
Bedien het toestel nooit met natte handen.

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer het toestel niet in
gebruik is of voordat u het toestel reinigt. Houd de
voedingskabel altijd vast bij de stekker en niet bij de kabel.
Opgelet! Laat na het uitschakelen de voedingskabel
aangesloten gedurende enkele minuten. Bij het uitschakelen,
blaast de automatische koelfunctie kortstondig koude lucht
door het verwarmingselement. Dit beschermt het toestel tegen
materiële schade en wordt de levensduur verlengd. Ontkoppel
het toestel niet tijdens het afkoelingsproces.
Gebruik het toestel enkel binnenshuis. Bescherm dit
toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende vloeistoffen.
Plaats nooit objecten gevuld met vloeistof op of naast het
toestel.
Vermijd gebruik in de buurt van brandbare producten of
explosieve gassen. Hitte kan brandbare stoffen doen
ontbranden, ook al zijn deze stoffen niet zichtbaar. Gebruik
enkel in een goed geventileerde ruimte.
Bij verkeerd gebruik ontstaat brandgevaar.
Raak de schacht, de stift of het heteluchtpistool nooit aan; u
kunt ernstige brandwonden oplopen. Houd de stift en warme
lucht uit de buurt van het lichaam, kleding of ander brandbaar
materiaal. Richt het heteluchtpistool niet op de ogen. Gebruik
handschoenen en/of hittebestendig gereedschap om de PCB-
assemblage vast te nemen; zo voorkomt u brandwonden.
Plaats na gebruik de bout en het luchtpistool altijd terug in de
houder en laat afkoelen alvorens op te bergen.
Plaats het toestel op een vlak, stabiel en hittebestendig
oppervlak.
Adem de vrijgekomen dampen nooit in. De gassen die tijdens
het solderen ontstaan zijn schadelijk. Daarom mag u enkel
solderen in goed geventileerde ruimtes of onder een geschikte
afzuiging. Gooi rookfilters en soldeerresidu weg volgens de
plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.
Gebruik dit toestel nooit op een elektronisch circuit onder
spanning. Schakel eerst de voeding van het circuit uit en
ontlaad alle condensatoren.
Zorg ervoor dat het mondstuk van het heteluchtpistool niet
wordt geblokkeerd. Dit kan warmtereflectie veroorzaken en het
verwarmingselement beschadigen.

Waarschuwing! Dit gereedschap moet in de houder geplaatst
worden indien het niet gebruikt wordt; laat het niet onbeheerd
achter wanneer het ingeschakeld is.
Gebruik de soldeerbout op een hittebestendig oppervlak.
Plaats de soldeerbout na gebruik in de houder.
Laat de soldeerbout op een natuurlijke wijze afkoelen en dompel de
soldeerbout nooit in water.
3. Algemene richtlijnen
Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze
handleiding.
Bescherm het toestel tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de
bediening.
Bescherm dit toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende
vloeistoffen.
Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat
gebruiken.
Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het
toestel. Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan
het toestel, valt niet onder de garantie.
Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt
automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.
De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde
richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid
afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.
Noch Velleman nv noch zijn verdelers kunnen aansprakelijk gesteld
worden voor schade (buitengewoon, incidenteel of onrechtstreeks) –
van welke aard dan ook (financieel, fysisch…) voortvloeiend uit het
bezit, gebruik of falen van dit product.
