1. GENERAL
This carton contains a fan/light unit a fan transformer controller and a lighting transformer (LuminAir H models also come complete with a SELV
Ambient Response humidistat). Unpack these items taking care to note the product model reference on the outside of the carton eg. LuminAir T.
The installation details apply to all fan/light units and controllers, but the wiring and functions vary.
2. SAFETY
ONLY CONNECT TOGETHER THE PRODUCTS SUPPLIED FROM LUMINAIR RANGE AS THESE ARE SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO
OPERATE AT 12V AC AND ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER VENT-AXIA CONTROLLERS. DO NOT CONNECT MORE THAN ONE
FAN UNIT TO THE CONTROLLER & DO NOT CONNECT MORE THAN ONE LIGHT TO THE LIGHTING TRANSFORMER.
WARNING: Ensure that the mains supply is disconnected before making any electrical connections. All electrical connections should
be made by a properly qualified electrician. The siting and installation MUST comply with current IEE Regulations, BS7671 (U.K.) or
the appropriate standards in your country.
All regulations and requirements MUST be strictly followed to prevent hazard to life and property, both during and after installation,
and while carrying out any subsequent servicing and maintenance.
3. SITING THE LUMINAIR
3.1 The electrical supply to the LuminAir fan/light is 12V AC SELV from the mains transformer controller and lighting transformer. This allows
the LuminAir fan/light to be installed within reach of a person using a fixed bath or shower ie. in the ceiling above. However, direct water spray
on the LuminAir should be avoided as this could reduce the life of the unit.
3.2 Site away from direct sources of heat. Do not site in areas containing excessive levels of grease. If the LuminAir is installed in a room
containing a fuel burning appliance the installer must ensure that air replacement is adequate for both the fan and the fuel burning appliance.
3.3 Ducting
The LuminAir must be ducted to the outside to extract moisture laden air which could cause damage to property. LuminAir can be used with
either rigid, flat duct or short runs of flexible ducting (less than 2m).
A condensation trap will be required in the exhaust duct where excessive levels of moisture are found in the air.
HORIZONTAL DUCTS SHOULD SLOPE AWAY FROM THE LUMINAIR AND DUCTS PASSING THROUGH AN UNHEATED ROOF VOID
SHOULD BE INSULATED.
4. SITING THE TRANSFORMER CONTROLLER & LIGHTING TRANSFORMER
4.1 THE TRANSFORMER CONTROLLERS MUST NOT BE SITED IN A SHOWER CUBICLE OR WITHIN REACH OF A PERSON USING A
FIXED BATH OR SHOWER. (ARMS REACH = 1.25m).
4.2 Site away from direct sources of heat. The controllers require free air circulation and must not be covered with any insulating
material such as might be in a ceiling or roof void. The Ambient temperature range of both the LuminAir fan/light and transformer
controller is 0 to 40OC.
4.3 Decide where to mount the LuminAir and its controllers and work out the cable runs.
4.4 LuminAir H models
In addition to the above please refer to the fitting and wiring instructions supplied with the SELV12 Ecotronic humidity sensor for appropriate
siting details.
5. FITTING THE LUMINAIR FAN/LIGHT
5.1 Mark and cut a 110mm hole in the ceiling surface where the LuminAir is to be fitted. (Mounting holes 130mmø centres)
5.2 Drill and plug the fixing holes if these are to be used (See 5.4 below).
5.3 Pull the LuminAir Bezel from the main assembly by gripping it firmly around its centre. Do not prise the Bezel from the unit as this may
damage its clip fastenings.
5.4 Loosen the two screws on the Lamp Housing until the Securing Clamps allow sufficient clearance to accomodate the ceiling thickness.
Then reposition the Securing Clamps against the Lamp Housing and fit the LuminAir through the hole in the ceiling before retightening the
screws to clamp the LuminAir into place.
5.5 If required line up the two permanent fixing holes in the Lamp Housing with the pre-drilled and plugged holes in the ceiling and fit the screws
supplied.
N.B. Either one of the above methods of mounting the LuminAir fan/light is sufficient. Choose which ever is most appropriate to the installation.
5.6 Remove the Lamp from its packaging and push it firmly into the Lamp Holder ensuring that the two pins on the Lamp locate in the Lamp
Holder
receptacles.
5.7 Refit the Bezel to the Lamp Housing.
6. FITTING THE TRANSFORMER CONTROLLERS.

NOTE: The controller is supplied with a surface mounting box and this should not be recessed.
6.1 Break out the desired cable entry opening(s) in the mounting box. Cable entry glands or grommets should be used to ensure that the
enclosure retains its integrity against dust and moisture penetration.
6.2 The mounting box should be fixed to the mounting surface using screws (and possibly masonry plugs) compatible with the surface.
FITTING THE LIGHTING TRANSFORMER.
6.3 The lighting transformer should be fixed to the mounting surface using screws (and possibly masonry plugs) compatible with the surface.
7. WIRING THE LUMINAIR AND TRANSFORMER CONTROLLERS
WARNING: This appliance MUST NOT be earthed. The controllers MUST be connected to a 220-240V 50Hz AC single phase mains
supply. They provide a 12V 50Hz AC Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) output for only one Vent-Axia LuminAir fan/light unit.
7.1 Ensure that the mains supply is switched OFF before starting any wiring.
7.2 Connection of the controller to the mains supply and the SELV wiring between the controller and the LuminAir should be in accordance with
current IEE Regulations, BS7671 (UK) or the appropriate standards in your country.
7.3 The mains supply should be via a switched spur with a 3A fuse (UK). The installation MUST be provided with a double pole isolator switch
with a contact separation of at least 3mm. The switch should be located outside the room if it contains a fixed bath or shower, or in accordance
with mandatory wiring and safety regulations.
7.4 The SELV wiring MUST be with mains voltage rated non-metallic sheathed cable. The SELV wiring should be physically separated and
insulated from any mains supply or other cabling. Cut the outer sheathing back as little as possible so that the insulating sheath almost reaches
the terminal block. 1.5mm2cable is recommended for cable runs up to 8m. Cable runs over 8m are not recommended.
7.5 Make the appropriate electrical connections as shown in fig. 1, 2 and 3. When using surface wiring, that is not contained in conduit, the
cables must be securely clipped to the mounting surface close to the controller.
7.6 The LuminAir fan/light is supplied with flying

leads thus the connections between the controller and the LuminAir should be made in a mains voltage rated junction box or similar.
7.7 Double check the wiring making sure all connections are secure. Fix the controller & lighting transformer covers back on. Do not over-
tighten the screws and take care not to trap any wires when fitting the two pieces together.
8. TIMER ADJUSTMENT
(LuminAir T models only)
The electronic timer fitted to the LuminAir T is triggered automatically when the unit is switched on by means of a remote switch eg. a light
switch. The fan will run for an adjustable preset period (between 3 and 25 minutes) after the lamp is turned off via the remote switch. The timer
is factory preset at approximately 15 minutes.
BEFORE ADJUSTING TIMER ISOLATE TRANSFORMER CONTROLLER FROM MAINS SUPPLY.
8.1 The adjuster is located on the circuit board inside the transformer controller.
8.2 Using a flat bladed Screwdriver turn the adjuster clockwise to increase or anti-clockwise to decrease the over-run period.
N.B. If used in a lighting circuit, for reliable operation, we recommend a tungsten filament lamp. The manufacturers of some flourescent and low
energy lighting systems indicate that these can interfere with electronic timer circuits.
9. CLEANING THE LUMINAIR
BEFORE CLEANING ISOLATE THE SYSTEM FROM MAINS SUPPLY.
Remove the Bezel and wash by hand in warm soapy water. Leave to dry. Wipe the Lamp Housing with a damp cloth before pushing the Bezel
back on to the Lamp Housing.
10. LAMP REPLACEMENT
BEFORE REMOVING OR REPLACING THE LAMP ISOLATE THE SYSTEM FROM MAINS SUPPLY.
The Vent-Axia LuminAir is specially designed for use with the supplied 12V dichroic flood lamp rated at 20W. The lamp is a straight push in/pull
out type. When Removing/Replacing any twisting movement of the lamp should be avoided.
GAMME VENT-AXIA LUMINAIR. INSTRUCTIONS DE MONTAGE ET DE CABLAGE
Veuillez lire attentivement toutes les instructions avant de démarrer l’installation.
1. GENERALITES
Ce carton contient une unité ventilateur/lampe et un transformateur contrôleurs (les modèles LuminAir H sont également dotés d’un humidistat
Ambiant Résponse SELV). Déballez ces éléments en prenant soin de noter la référence du produit portée à l’extérieur du carton (par exemple
LuminAir T). Les instructions de montage sont valables pour tous les lampes/ventilateurs et contrôleurs, mais les câblages et les fonctionnalités
peuvent varier.
2. SECURITE
NE RACCORDEZ ENSEMBLE QUE LES PRODUITS DE LA GAMME LUMINAIR, CES APPAREILS ETANT SPECIALEMENT CONCUS
POUR FONCTIONNER SOUS 12V CA ET N’ETANT PAS COMPATIBLES AVEC D’AUTRES CONTROLEURS VENT-AXIA. NE
RACCORDEZ PAS PLUS D’UNE UNITE VENTILATEUR/LAMPE AU TRANSFORMATEURS.
AVERTISSEMENT : Vérifiez que l’alimentation secteur est bien déconnectée avant de procéder à des raccordements électriques. Tous
les branchements électriques doivent être réalisés par un électricien qualifié. Le choix de l’emplacement et l’installation DOIVENT
satisfaire aux normes correspondantes en vigueur dans le pays d’installation.
Toutes les réglementations et exigences DOIVENT être strictement respectées afin d’éviter tout risque d’accident corporel ou
matériel, à la fois pendant et après l’installation ainsi que pendant toute opération d’entretien ou de maintenance.
3. EMPLACEMENT DU LUMINAIRE
3.1 L’alimentation électrique du ventilateur/lampe LuminAir est fournie par le 12V CA SELV provenant du transformateurs/contrôleur branché
lui-même sur le secteur. Ceci permet au ventilateur/lampe LuminAir d’être installé à portée d’une personne utilisant une baignoire ou une cabine
de douche, par exemple dans le plafond situé au-dessus. Il convient toutefois d’éviter toute projection directe d’eau sur le LuminAir, la durée de
vie de l’appareil pouvant être alors réduite.
3.2 Installer l’appareil à distance des sources directes de chaleur. Ne pas installer dans des zones caractérisées par des présences excessives
de graisses. Si le LuminAir est installé dans une pièce contenant un appareil à brûleur, l’installateur doit s’assurer que le renouvellement d’air
est suffisant pour les deux appareils, le ventilateur et l’appareil à brûleur.
3.3 Gaine
Le LuminAir doit être équipé d’une gaine raccordée à l’extérieur et permettant d’évacuer l’air chargé d’humidité susceptible d’entraîner des
dommages matériels. Le LuminAir peut être utilisé avec une gaine plate ou avec des sections plus courtes de gaine souple (de moins de 2 m de
longueur).
Si les teneurs de l’air en humidité sont excessives, on
installera un piège à condensation dans la gaine d’évacuation.
LES GAINES HORIZONTALES DOIVENT ETRE MONTEES AVEC UNE PENTE DESCENDANTE DEPUIS LE LUMINAIRE, ET LES GAINES
PASSANT PAR UN VIDE DE TOITURE NON CHAUFFE DOIVENT ETRE ISOLEES.
4. EMPLACEMENT DU TRANSFORMATEUR CONTROLEURS
4.1 LE TRANSFORMATEUR CONTROLEUR NE DOIT PAS ETRE PLACE DANS UNE CABINE DE DOUCHE NI A PORTEE D’UNE
PERSONNE UTILISANT UNE BAIGNOIRE OU UNE CABINE DE DOUCHE (Portée du bras d’une personne = 1,25 m).
4.2 Eloignez le transformateur contrôleurs de toute source directe de chaleur. Le régulateur nécessite une libre circulation de l’air et
ne doit pas être recouvert d’un matériau isolant tel qu’on en trouve dans les greniers et les soupentes. La plage des températures
ambiantes acceptables à la fois pour le ventilateur/lampe LuminAir et le transformateur contrôleur va de 0 à 40 °C.
4.3 Choisissez l’emplacement de montage du LuminAir et de son contrôleur et installez les conduits des câbles.
4.4 Modèles LuminAir H
Outre les instructions ci-dessus, reportez-vous aux instructions de montage et de câblage fournies avec l’humidistat Ambiant Résponse SELV
pour les détails de montage appropriés.
5. MONTAGE DU VENTILATEUR/LAMPE LUMINAIR
5.1 Marquez et percez le trou de 110 mm dans la surface du plafond, à l’endroit où le Luminair doit être monté. (Trous de montage 130mm
entre axes)
5.2 Percez et chevillez les trous de fixation, si nécessaire (voir 5.4 ci-dessous).
