CD-47 Desktop Charger
This Desktop Charger enables charging of Ni-Cd and Ni-MH Battery Pack* for Vertex Standard
transceivers. This Desktop Charger requires the optional PA-43C/U AC Adapter.
Operation
1. Referring to Figure 1, insert the DC plug from the optional PA-43C/U
AC Adapter into the DC jack on the rear panel of the CD-47 Desktop
Charger, and then wind the DC cable of the PA-43C/U AC Adapter into
the slit of the CD-47 Desktop Charger to prevent the DC plug from
disconnecting.
2. Plug the PA-43C/U AC Adapter into the AC line outlet.

Insert the battery pack into the CD-47 Desktop Charger while aligning
the slots of the battery pack with the guides in the nest of the CD-47
(refer to Figure 2 for details on proper positioning of the pack). Ifcharg
ing with the transceiver attached, turn the transceiver off. The antenna
jack should be at the left side when viewing the charger from the front.
Ifthe battery
pack is inserted correctly, the LED indicator willglow red.
Afully-discharged
pack will charge completely in 1.5 - 3.5 hours (de
pending on
the battery being charged).
When charging is completed, the LED indicator will change to green.
Even ifthe charging is completed, the LED indicator will sometimes
change to red for trickle charging.
Disconnect the pack from the CD-47 Desktop Charger and unplug
the PA-43 AC Adapter from the AC line outlet.

Important Notes!
O Use only the optional Vertex Standard PA-43C/U AC Adapter. Do not
connect an improper AC Adapter.
O This desktop Charger is designed for charging only the Vertex Stan
dard designated batteries.
O Do not charge an improper battery (one not specifically designed ^fc**.S£5£** ?"*!?!£"£*
for use in the CD-47 Desktop Charger).
O Disconnect the pack from the CD-47 Desktop Charger and un
plug the PA-43C/U AC Adapter from the AC line outlet when
charging is completed.
O The CD-47 Desktop Charger and/or PA-43C/U AC
Adapter will generate a moderate amount of heat dur
ing the charging process. This is a normal condition.
O This Desktop Charger is designed for charging only and
is not
designed for operation (transmit/receive) of the
transceiver.
O If the LED blinks red, please insert the battery again. If LED continues blinking red, a CD-47
Desktop Charger or a battery may be defective. Please contact your Vertex Standard dealer.
OPeriodically wipe the charging terminals in the nest in the CD-47 Desktop Charger using a dry
cloth to ensure good connections between the charger and battery.
^Caution!!
O When charging a battery pack alone (not attached to the transceiver), do not allow any metal
object to short the terminals of the pack.
O Do not allow any metal objects to short the terminals in the nest of the charger stand, as ashort-
circuit could cause overheating of the charger circuitry and electrical hazard.
Wind the DC cable into
the slit of the CD-47
Desktop Charger.
