The Avocent® Universal
Management Gateway appliance
provides extensive access to
attached devices. Care must be
taken to avoid compromising your
security policies.
The appliance ships with the
following default settings:
•DHCP, SSH v2 and HTTPS are
enabled.
•All autosensing ports are
enabled.
•Ethernet and CLI Setup ports
are enabled.
The following accounts exist by
default:
•admin
•operator
•user
Shell access for admin is enabled.
The first time you access the
appliance, you must log in as admin
and create and confirm a password
for the admin account.
1. Rack mounting
the appliance

2. Connecting
to your network
Connect a UTP cable from the
primary network port to your
network. For redundancy,
connect both network ports.
3. Connecting
external sensors
The appliance supports
environmental sensors
connected to ports labeled TH,
DI, COM or SNSR. DO ports are
physical relays that can be used
to turn on/o a DC powered
device. For a list of the sensors

4. Using autosensing ports
The appliance has autosensing
ports used to connect serial,
power, service processor and
KVM targets (depending on the
model). Autosensing ports are
indicated by a turquoise line.
5. Connecting targets
Using UTP cables and
supported DB9 or DB25
console adaptors, connect
targets to the appliance. For
KVM targets, connect using an
UMIQ module. See the UMIQ
Module Quick Installation Guide
for more instructions.
WARNING: Connected serial
devices should not exceed 13
volts.

NOTE: A patch panel is not
recommended as a connection
point between the appliance
and an IQ module because it
can cause distance, power or
video quality control feature
issues. If the issues are still
present when the patch panel
is removed, contact Technical
Support.
6. Connecting locally or
through the console port
You can configure and
manage the appliance either via
the VGA console or the CLI
Setup port. Use the provided
RJ45 to DB9 cross converter to
connect a terminal or
workstation to the CLI Setup
port. Terminal setting
requirements are: 9600, 8, N
and 1, with no flowcontrol and
ANSI emulation.
7. Connecting USB devices
You can use the USB ports on
the front of the appliance to
connect a keyboard, video and
mouse or other supported USB
devices.
8. Turning on the appliance
For redundancy, the appliance
has dual power supplies. Plug
the power cables into the
appliance and then into a power
source to turn the appliance on.
Then turn on the devices
connected to the appliance.
9. Assigning an IP address
An IP address can be obtained
via DHCP or a static IP can be
assigned using the VGA or CLI
Setup port.
NOTE: If using DHCP, you must
first find the IP address
assigned to the appliance by
looking at the DHCP leases on
the network DHCP server. Then
use a browser at
https://<appliance IP> to
connect to the appliance.
If you are assigning an IP
address using VGA, perform the
following steps:
a. Log in to the appliance’s web
user interface as admin.
b. Under the Administration tab,
click Network Settings.
c. Click the eth0 entry in the
table and use the drop-down
menu to change the method
to Static.
d. Assign the desired IP values
and click Apply.

1. 在机架上安装本装置

2. 连接到网络
使用 UTP 缆线将主要网络端口
连接到您的网络。同时连接两个
网络端口可提供冗余。
3. 连接外部传感器
此装置支持与标有 TH、DI、COM
或SNSR 的端口相连的环境传感
器。DO 端口是可用于打开/关闭
直流供电设备的物理继电器。

4. 使用自动检测端口
本装置配有用于连接串行、电源、
服务处理器和 KVM 目标设备的自
动检测端口（视型号而定）。自动
检测端口标有青绿线。
5. 连接目标设备
使用 UTP 缆线和支持的 DB9 或
DB25 控制台适配器，将目标设备
连接到装置。对于 KVM 目标设
备，可使用 UMIQ 模块连接。有关
更多说明，请参阅《UMIQ 模块快
速安装指南》。
警告： 已连接的串行设备不得超
过13 伏特。

6. 进行本地连接或通过控制台
端口连接
您可以通过 VGA 控制台或 CLI
设 置 端 口 配 置 和 管 理 本 装 置 。使
用提供的 RJ45 至DB9 交叉转
换 器 ，将 终 端 或 工 作 站 连 接 到
CLI 设置端口。终端设置要求
为：9600、8、N 和1，无 流 量 控
制和 ANSI 仿真。
7. 连接 USB 设备
您可以使用本装置前面的 USB 端
口连接键盘、录像机、鼠标或其他
支持的 USB 设备。
8. 打开装置
装 置 配 有 双 电 源 ，可 提 供 冗 余 保
护 。要 打 开 装 置 ，请 先 将 电 源 线 插
入装置，然后再将其插入电源。
最 后 ，打 开 与 装 置 相 连 的 设 备 。
9. 分配 IP 地址
可通过 DHCP 获取 IP 地 址 ，或
可使用 VGA 或CLI 设置端口分
配静态 IP。
注： 如果使用 DHCP，您 必 须 首
先查看网络 DHCP 服务器上的
DHCP 租 约 ，找 到 分 配 到 本 装 置
的IP 地址。然后使用浏览器访问
https://<装置 IP>以连接到本装
置。
如果要使用 VGA 分配 IP 地址，
请执行以下步骤：
a . 以 admin（ 管 理 员 ）身 份 登 录
本装置的 web 用户界面。
b . 单 击 “管理” 选项卡下的 “网络
设 置 ”。
c . 单 击 表 中 的 eth0 条 目 ，然 后 使
用下拉菜单将方式更改为
“ 静 态 ”。
d . 分 配 所 需 的 IP 地址并单击
“ 应 用 ”。
