
3. Electrical supply
a. Plug in all electrical aquarium appliances into a G.F.C.I. electrical outlet only.
b. Do not plug into a extension cord.
c. Always disconnect the power to all aquarium devices prior to maintenance.
d. Do not plug in the pump until the aquarium is full of water.
4. Filtration
a. Fit together both parts of the undergravel ltration system.
b. Place the complete undergravel lter onto the bottom of the aquarium.
c. Place the intake of the pump on to the standpipe on the left side of the undergravel
lter. The Intake of the pump slides directly into the standpipe. The intake of the
pump is on the opposite side of the power cord.
d. Next insert the discharge tubing into the top of the pump. Adjust the height of the
discharge so that it is approximately 2 inches from the rim of the aquarium.
e. Add gravel to the aquarium insuring that the undergravel is at and gravel will not
get under the plates. Note failure to do so will cause permanent damage to the
pump and/or impeller.
f. Use the tracking on the left side of the aquarium to insert the power cord.
5. Lighting
a. Verify the bulbs are properly seated into the end caps.
b. Attach the xture stands to the light hood using a Philips screwdriver.
c. The at surface of the light xture stand goes on the outside of the aquarium.
d. Place the assembled light xture onto the aquarium and snap onto the molding.
e. Place the ballast in a well-ventilated area where the ballast will not come in
contact with water. If you are to place the ballast above the aquarium or above the
receptacle a drip loop must be arranged.
6. Fill with water and plug in the pump into a GFCI electrical outlet.
7. When keeping Tropical sh or a saltwater aquarium a ViaAqua® heater is
recommended. Please consult your local tropical sh store or pet supply store for the
proper wattage heater.
LV418 and LV418W: 50-75 watt ViaAqua® preset heater
LV680 and LV780: 75-100 watt ViaAqua® preset heater
LV37T: 150 watt ViaAqua® preset heater
8. Place a thermometer on the opposite side of the heater.
9. Install the heater according to the manufactures guidelines.
a. Wait 15 min. for the heater to acclimate to the water temperature in the aquarium
prior to plugging the heater into a GFCI electrical outlet.
b. Place the heater where there is good water circulation
10. Due to varying water conditions water supplements may be necessary, consult with
your local tropical sh store or pet supply store for the required water conditioners for
your area.
11. Now, your are ready for some sh and plants.
Helpful Hints:
The light xture must remain free of water and/or salt creep at all times failure to do so will cause
permanent damage to the light xture, cause electrical arching and/or start a re.
Do not add all the sh and plants at one time. See your local tropical sh store and pet supply store
for proper new tank setup. An additional life support system is recommended.
