These operating instructions are
designed for heating system users.
This appliance can also be operated by
children 8 years and older, as well as
by individuals with reduced physical,
sensory or mental faculties or those
lacking in experience and knowledge,
provided such individuals are being
supervised or have been instructed in
the safe use of this appliance and any
risks arising from it.

Danger

If you smell gas
Danger
Escaping gas can lead to explo-
sions which may result in seri-
ous injury.
■ Do not smoke. Prevent naked
flames and sparks. Do not
switch lights or electrical appli-
ances on or off.
■ Close the gas shut-off valve.
■ Open windows and doors.
■ Evacuate any people from the
danger zone.
■ Notify your gas and power
supply utility and your local
heating contractor from out-
side the building.
■ Have the power supply to the
building shut off from a safe
place (outside the building).
If you smell flue gas
Danger
Flue gas can lead to life threat-
ening poisoning.
■ Shut down the heating sys-
tem.
■ Ventilate the installation site.
■ Close all doors in the living
space.
Emergency contact
If you smell gas or detect a gas leak
call the National Gas Emergency serv-
ice on 0800 111 999. Notify your gas or
electricity supplier and your heating
contractor.
■ Shut off the electricity supply to the
building from a safe place (outside
the building).
In case of fire
Danger
Fire presents a risk of burns and
explosion.
■ Shut down the heating sys-
tem.
■ Close the shut-off valves in
the fuel supply lines.
■ Use a tested fire extinguisher,
class ABC.
What to do if the heating system
develops a fault
Danger
Fault messages indicate faults
in the heating system. If faults
are not rectified, they can have
life threatening consequences.
Do not acknowledge fault mes-
sages several times in quick
succession. Inform your heating
contractor so the cause can be
analysed and the fault rectified.

Installation room requirements
Danger
Sealed vents result in a lack of
combustion air. This leads to
incomplete combustion and the
formation of life threatening car-
bon monoxide.
Never cover or close existing
vents.
Do not make any subsequent
modifications to the building
characteristics that could affect
safe operation (e.g. cable/pipe-
work routing, cladding or parti-
tions).
Danger
Easily flammable liquids and
materials (e.g. petrol, solvents,
cleaning agents, paints or
paper) can cause deflagration
and fire.
Never store or use such materi-
als in the installation room or in
direct proximity to the heating
system.
!Please note
Incorrect ambient conditions can
lead to heating system damage
and can put safe operation at
risk.
■ Ensure ambient temperatures
are above 0 °C and below
35 °C.
■ Prevent air contamination by
halogenated hydrocarbons
(e.g. as contained in paints,
solvents or cleaning fluids)
and excessive dust (e.g.
through grinding/polishing
work).
■ Avoid continuously high
humidity levels (e.g. through
continuous drying of washing).
Extractors
The operation of appliances that extract
air to the outside (cooker hoods, extrac-
tors, air conditioning units, etc.) can
create negative pressure. If the boiler is
operated at the same time, this can
lead to reverse flow of the flue gas.
Danger
The simultaneous operation of
the boiler and appliances that
extract air to the outside can
result in life threatening poison-
ing due to reverse flow of the
flue gas.
Take suitable steps to ensure an
adequate supply of combustion
air. If necessary, contact your
heating contractor.

pressing any key and extinguishes
15 seconds after the last key was
pressed.
How to use the controls
Default display
21.5°C
When idle, the display always shows
the current room temperature.
■ Pressing any key takes you to the
operating display.
■ Pressing twice calls up the menu.
■ takes you one step back in the
menu.
■ The menu will automatically close
30 s after the last key was pressed.
The default display will be shown
3 min later.
Any changes are accepted with OK.
Temperature changes made with /
are accepted automatically 5 s later.

Lock out controls
You can lock the control keys of the
Vitotrol 100. To do this, press and
simultaneously for 5 s. To unlock the
keys, again press and simultane-
ously for 5 s.

You can select between the following
operating modes:
■ Heating mode
In this operating mode, there are
3 preset programs available to you
("Prog 1" to "Prog 3") (see next
chapter).
Heating alternates with standard
room temperature ("Comfort") and
2 reduced room temperatures ("Eco"
and "Reduced").
■"Frost pr.": Frost protection mode
(see page 14)
■"Manual": Operation with a constant
room temperature (see page 14)
Heating mode
You can choose between 3 preset time
programs ("Prog 1" to "Prog 3").
Note
You can change the time programs in
accordance with your individual prefer-
ences (see page 15).
In the time programs, you can change
between 3 temperature values:
■"Comfort" (delivered condition:
21 °C)
■"Eco" (delivered condition: 19 °C)
■"Reduced" (delivered condition:
16 °C)
Note
You can change the temperature set-
tings in accordance with your individual
preferences (see page 15).

3. Select the required program with /

Frost protection mode
If you do not want to heat the interior
but would like to have frost protection.
Central heating starts if the room tem-
perature falls below 5 °C.
Note
DHW heating is switched off.

The display shows and redisplays
the current room temperature.
"Manual" (operation with constant room temperature)
Central heating operates continuously
with the selected temperature.
1. Open the flap.
2. Press twice.
3. With / select "Manual".
4. Confirm 2 times with OK.

At this point, you can also start or
stop DHW heating during this oper-
ating mode (see chapter "DHW
heating").
5. Use / to set the required room
temperature (min. 10 °C).
6. Confirm with OK.

Setting an individual time program
Setting time phases
In the preset time programs "Prog 1"
to "Prog 3", the day is split into 6 time
phases.
However, you can also split the day into
less than six time phases:
■ For time phase 1, always select
"Time ph. 1".
and
■ For the last time phase, always select
"Time ph. 6".
Example:
In "Prog. 3", you only want to enable 3
time phases. "Comfort" from 06:00 h
to 10:00 h; "Eco" from 10:00 h to 22:00
h; and "Reduced" from 22:00 h to
06:00 h.
Select "Time ph. 1", "Time ph. 2" and
"Time ph. 6".
Time phases 3, 4 and 5 are automati-
cally disabled.
For every enabled time phase, the fol-
lowing must be entered:
■ Start time
■ Stop time
■ Temperature ("Comfort", "Eco",
"Reduced")

You can select time phases for several
days (day groups) or for individual
days:
■"MO–SU" for the same time phases
every day of the week
■"MO–FR" for the same time phases
Monday to Friday
■"SA–SU" for the same time phases
Saturday and Sunday
■"SINGLE DAY" different time phases
for individual days
Note
Settings for individual days take prior-
ity over settings for several days.

19. Proceed as described in points 15
to 18 to set further time phases.
Note
Should gaps be created between
the time phases, these are closed
automatically by extending the pre-
vious time phase.
Disabling time phases
To disable a time phase, set the same
value for the start and stop times.
Copying a time program
You can copy time programs, for exam-
ple to make a new time program from
another where only minor changes are
required.

Changing the room temperature for a few days only
Setting the holiday program
For when you are away, the following
energy saving options are available:
■ You can shut central heating down
completely by selecting frost protec-
tion mode "Frost pr." (see page 14).
or
■ You can set the central heating to
minimum energy consumption (e.g.
to prevent your house plants from
being damaged by the cold). For this,
select the holiday program "j".
When the holiday program is ena-
bled, the rooms are heated with the
reduced room temperature
("Reduced").
During the holiday program, you can
change the reduced room tempera-
ture to suit your requirements (see
page 15).

Terminating the holiday program
■ The holiday program terminates auto-
matically when the end time has
been reached.
■ If you want to delete the holiday pro-
gram early:
1. Open the flap.
2. Press twice.
3. With / select "Holiday".
4. Confirm with OK.
5. With / select "OFF".
Changing the room temperature for a few hours only
You can change the room temperature
for a few hours without permanently
altering the settings.
The modified temperature remains ena-
bled until the next changeover within a
program or until the next program
change.
If you want an unscheduled increase in
room temperature:
■ In programs "Prog 1" to "Prog 3"
and "Manual", increase the room
temperature with (see next chap-
ter).
or
■Press g to select party mode (only
in programs "Prog 1" to "Prog 3";
see page 19).
If you want an unscheduled reduction
in room temperature:
■ In programs "Prog 1" to "Prog 3"
and "Manual", reduce the room tem-
perature with (see next chapter).
or
■Press û to select economy mode
(only in programs "Prog 1" to
"Prog 3"; see page 19).

The current set temperature will be
displayed.
2. Set the required temperature
with / .
3. The value is accepted automatically
after approx. 5 s.
Setting party mode
In party mode, the room temperature is
increased automatically to 21 °C.
During party mode, you can change the
room temperature to suit your require-
ments.
Note
DHW heating is ON.
1. Press g for approx. 5 s.
The display shows Þ.
2. You can change the temperature
with / .
3. The value is accepted automatically
after approx. 5 s.
Cancelling Party mode
■ Party mode ends automatically the
next time the program changes over.
■Press g again for approx. 5 s if you
want to terminate party mode early.
Setting economy mode
In economy mode, the current room
temperature is reduced automatically
by 2 °C.
You can also set economy mode during
reduced mode "Eco" and "Reduced".
The lowest room temperature in econ-
omy mode is 10 °C.
Note
DHW heating is switched off.
1. Press û for approx. 5 s.
The display shows û.
2. You can also change the tempera-
ture with / .
3. The value is accepted automatically
after approx. 5 s.
Cancelling economy mode
■ Economy mode ends automatically
the next time the heating program
changes over.
■Press û again for approx. 5 s if you
want to terminate economy mode
early.

You can choose between 3 preset time
programs. They are saved in the pro-
grams "Prog 1" to "Prog 3" (see
page 12).
In the time programs, there is a
changeover between operating modes
"Enable" and "Block".
Note
You can change the time programs in
accordance with your individual prefer-
ences (see page 22).
