Working on the system
■Isolate the system from the power supply (e.g. by
removing the separate fuse or by means of a mains
isolator) and check that it is no longer live.
■Safeguard the system against reconnection.
■Wear protective clothing.

trostatic discharge.
Prior to commencing any work, touch earthed
objects such as heating or water pipes to dis-
charge static loads.
Danger
Hot surfaces can cause burns.
■Before maintenance and service work, switch
OFF the appliance and let it cool down.
■Never touch the hot surfaces of uninsulated
pipes and fittings.

Floors which are wet, damp or covered in fluids
containing glycol present a risk of injury through

Intended use
The appliance is only intended to be installed and
operated in sealed unvented systems that comply with
EN 12828 / DIN 1988, or solar thermal systems that
comply with EN 12977, with due attention paid to the
associated installation, service and operating instruc-
tions. DHW cylinders are only designed to store and
heat water of potable water quality. Heating water buf-
fer cylinders are only designed to hold fill water of pot-
able water quality. Only operate solar collectors with
the heat transfer medium approved by the manufac-
turer.
Intended use presupposes that a fixed installation in
conjunction with permissible, system-specific compo-
nents has been carried out.
Commercial or industrial usage for a purpose other
than heating the building or DHW shall be deemed
inappropriate.
Any usage beyond this must be approved by the man-
ufacturer for the individual case.

Incorrect usage or operation of the appliance (e.g. the
appliance being opened by the system user) is prohibi-
ted and results in an exclusion of liability.
Incorrect usage also occurs if the components in the
system are modified from their intended use (e.g.
through direct DHW heating in the collector).
Adhere to statutory regulations, especially concerning
the hygiene of potable water.

Vitocell 100-B and Vitocell 100-W, type CVBA
Enamelled DHW cylinder with internal indirect coil for
DHW heating in conjunction with solar thermal sys-
tems, as well as floorstanding and wall mounted boil-
ers in dual mode operation.

Before installation
To prevent damage to the thermal insulation and the
Solar-Divicon, both can be removed prior to transpor-
tation to the installation site.
Note
Ensure that no fleece remnants enter the DHW cylin-
der through the cylinder connections.

!Please note
The thermal insulation must not be able to come
into contact with naked flames.
Exercise caution when welding and soldering.
!Please note
To prevent material losses, site the DHW cylin-
der in a room free from the risk of frost and
draughts.
When not in use, the DHW cylinder must be
drained if there is a risk of frost.
■Provide adequate clearance from the wall for operat-
ing the Vitosolic 100 (if installed).
Note
To facilitate access to the connections on the solar
side, the Vitosolic 100 can be moved to the right or
left.
■Use the adjustable feet to level the DHW cylinder.
Note
Never extend the adjustable feet beyond a total
length of 35 mm.

Maintain the minimum clearance.

The unheated length of any threaded immersion
heater installed on site must be at least 100 mm.
The threaded immersion heater must be suitable
for installation in enamelled DHW cylinders.

Connect the power supply only after the solar control
unit has been connected (see page 15).

ASensor well for cylinder temperature controller
■Never wrap insulating tape around sensors.
■Secure the cylinder temperature sensor to the out-
side of the contact spring of the sensor retainer (not
in the groove) so that it is flush with the front of the
spring.
■Insert the sensor retainer together with the sensor
into sensor well A as far as it will go.
Connecting the solar control unit
Solar control unit:
■Vitosolic 100, type SD1,
or
■SDIO/SM1A electronics module
The following cables/leads are already connected to
the Vitosolic 100 or the SDIO/SM1A electronics mod-
ule:
■Cylinder temperature sensor
■Pump connecting cable
■On versions equipped with high efficiency circulation
pump: PWM cable, solar circuit pump
Note
If not yet connected, push the pump connecting cable
plug into the circulation pump.

The following cables/leads have yet to be connected to
the Vitosolic 100 or the SDIO/SM1A electronics mod-
ule:
■Power supply
■Collector temperature sensor
■Connection to Vitotronic boiler control units (KM-
BUS) or PlusBus
!Please note
Routing 230 V cables immediately adjacent to
extra low voltage (ELV) leads may lead to data
being corrupted during transmission.
Route extra low voltage (ELV) leads < 42 V and
cables ≥ 230 V~ separately underneath the
cover of the DHW cylinder.

■Connect all pipework with detachable fittings.
■Seal connections that are not required with caps.
■Adjust the high limit safety cut-out so that the DHW
temperature in the DHW cylinder does not exceed
95 °C.

1. Install the heat supply control unit.
2. Check connections A and B for leaks and tighten
if required.
Torque: 45 to 50 Nm
3. When using copper pipes:
Insert support sleeves C supplied.
Torque for both union nuts: 30 Nm
4. Install the flow line with a rise and fit an air vent
valve at the highest point.
5. Only for heating water flow temperatures above
110 °C:
Install a type-tested high limit safety cut-out, if one
has not yet been installed in the system (see
pages 17 and 20). For this, use a temperature
limiter and a high limit safety cut-out.
Connections on the DHW side
■For connecting the DHW side, observe DIN 1988
and DIN 4753 (CH: SVGW regulations)
■Connect all pipework with detachable fittings.
■Seal any connections that are not required with red
brass caps.
■Equip the DHW circulation pipe with a DHW circula-
tion pump and a check valve.
■Connection of the DHW circulation pump:
–Connection to the boiler control unit, provided this
is equipped with a DHW circulation pump connec-
tion.
–Connection with a time switch, if there is no DHW
circulation pump connection on the boiler control
unit.
Permissible temperature: 95 °C
Permissible operating pressure: 10 bar
(1.0 MPa)
Test pressure: 16 bar

Safety valve
The system must be equipped with a type-tested dia-
phragm safety valve as protection against overpres-
sure.
Permissible operating pressure: 10 bar (1 MPa).
The safety valve must have the following connection
diameter:
R ¾ (DN 20), max. heat input 150 kW.
If the heat input of the DHW cylinder exceeds 150 kW,
select an appropriately rated safety valve for the heat
input (see E-DIN 1988-200).
Install the safety valve in the cold water line. Ensure it
cannot be shut off from the DHW cylinder. There must
be no constrictions in the pipework between the safety
valve and the DHW cylinder.
Never seal off the safety valve discharge pipe. Ensure
that any expelled water is safely and visibly drained
into a drainage system. Position a sign close to the
safety valve discharge pipe, or ideally on the safety
valve itself, with the following inscription: "For safety
reasons, water may be discharged from the discharge
pipe during heating. Never seal."
Install the safety valve above the top edge of the DHW
cylinder.

!Please note
Damaged sensor leads (capillary tubes) result in
incorrect sensor functions.
Never route the connecting lead and the capilla-
ries near hot components.
Do not kink the capillary tubes.

1. Seal in the sensor well.

as far as it will go.

Never wrap insulating tape around sensors.
3. Secure the retaining bracket at the selected posi-
tion.

Observe the length of the capillary tube.
4. Slide casing onto retaining bracket.
5. Secure the casing by bending up the tabs.
Electrical connections
Earth the appliance with the earth conductor at the
"PE" terminal. This cable must have at least the same
cross-section as the power cable. Never loop earth
cables, i.e. never route them from one appliance to
another.
