The automatic calibration mode is in operation when the Easyshade base unit is attached to
a power supply:

perpendicular to the calibration block (as shown).
4.2 Gently push the entire handpiece down onto the calibration block. This initiates the
calibration process. DO NOT PRESS THE MEASUREMENT BUTTON.
4.3 After hearing three audible beeps, remove the handpiece from the base unit.
DO NOT REMOVE THE HANDPIECE BEFORE THE THREE AUDIBLE BEEPS.
Manual Calibration
The manual calibration mode applies only when the Easyshade base unit is NOT attached
to a power supply:
4.4 Position the handpiece probe into the calibration dock so that the probe tip is flush with and
perpendicular to the calibration block.
4.5 Depress the Measurement Button to commence calibration.
4.6 Remove the handpiece from the base unit after three audible beeps.

instructions when operating Manual Calibration.
5. Shade Measurement
5.1 The “Single Tooth” (default) measurement mode is highlighted on the display. This mode is
used for single point shade measurement of a single tooth.
5.2 Position the Easyshade handpiece probe tip directly to the middle-third area of the tooth.
The probe tip must be placed as flat as possible on the tooth surface.
TO PREVENT INACCURATE SHADE RESULTS, THE PROBE TIP MUST NOT EXTEND BEYOND
THE INCISAL EDGE OR OUTSIDE THE SURROUNDING TOOTH SURFACES.
5.3 Depress and hold the Easyshade handpiece “Measurement Button” while holding it steadily
on the tooth surface until three audible beeps have ended.
5.4 The shade is instantly reported on the Easyshade display screen.
Additional menus such as “Tooth Areas” and “Verify” are explained in the VITA
Easyshade Compact Operating Instruction manual.
