Introduction
Thank you for selecting the Wahlberg Motion Design Manipulator. A DMX controlled linear rail for
moving objects: Lamps, loud speaker, smoke machines or any other prop, in any direction.
Up and down, left and right, back and forth. The manipulator will make your stage or
installation more dynamic and create unique and noticeable effects for your audience.
Your moving object can also be powered and DMX controlled making the Manipulator a natural
extension of your existent inventory.
It is simple to install and use, and for most purposes, only use four DMX channels to control the
manipulator. Channel 1 and 2 set the 16-bit position high and low, respectively, with 0% position
being near the motor box. Channel 3 sets the maximum speed and channel 4 is a security
channel which must be between 50-55% for the manipulator to run. The available range of
motion can be easily adjusted to fit all venues.

Installation guide
The manipulator can be installed in many ways. We have supplied slim couplers for standard
truss and tube mounting. For other rigging options please contact [email protected].
Mounting the manipulator horizontally
The manipulator can be mounted horizontally by attaching the included brackets and
slim couplers to the T-slots of the aluminium profile. Please see picture below.
For under 3 meters use a minimum of two brackets. For longer manipulators use a
minimum of three brackets.
Mounting the manipulator vertically
The manipulator can be mounted in the vertical position by attaching a single included
bracket to either end of the manipulator. Please see picture below.
Mounting the load
The load can be mounted on the sliding wagon. Be aware of the load capacities and
avoid stick out that will cause either of the limit switches to be unreachable.
Connecting power
The manipulator takes input power through Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 NAC3PX (F/M).
Input voltage range is 100VAC to 240VAC drawing up to 300W of power.
The through connection also takes input power through Neutrik powerCON TRUE1
NAC3PX (F/M). Input voltage range is up to 10A/240VAC.
Connecting DMX
The manipulator uses DMX as a control signal. It uses the standard DMX 512
1990+DMX512A through the 5 pole XLR plug where the pin 1 = shield, pin 2 = (-), and
pin 3 = (+). Pin 4 and 5 are not connected.
The through connection control signal is tested for the same DMX standard with same
pin configuration. Note that due to the standard the signal must be daisy-chained from
the wagon. It cannot be daisy-chained from the motor box hence the signal should be
terminated at the wagon.
For controlling multiple manipulators a DMX splitter is advised.
The maximum rating for other signals are 1A/48V.

Usage
The manipulator, although advanced, is simple to use. Before first use please demount any load
and secure the area.
Start up guide
1. Connect power and DMX to the manipulator. Wait for the intro screen to pass.
2. Set channel 4 between 50% and 55%. This enables the manipulator to run.
3. Set channel 1 and 2 to the desired position. 0% is closest to the motor box and 100%
is furthest away from the motor box. Set channel 3 to the desired speed and the
wagon will go there.
4. To limit the range available use channel 5 and 6. Channel 5 shifts the 100% position
away from the top and channel 6 shifts the 0% position away from the bottom. Note
that the two channels must add up to less than 100%.
For smooth synchronous movement fading of 16-bit position should be used.

Any other value will disable the motor.
5 Shift TOP
limit
Shift the top limit down (100% position, furthest away from the motor
box). Setting this to 20% will mean only 0%-80% of the range is available.
6 Shift BOTTOM
limit
Shit the bottom limit up (0% position, closest to the motor box). Setting
this to 30% while channel 5 is at 20% means only 30%-80% range is
available.
LED indicators
DMX LED: ON means DMX is received.
BLINKING means DMX I missing. Check your connection.
ERROR LED: ON means the manipulator is disabled or an error has occurred.
OFF means the manipulator is enabled
Info screen information
By holding the down or up arrow different information screens are available. The
initial info screen only displays the current DMX start channel. Subsequent displays
have more information.
