The walimex RD-600 series is particularly suitable or e.g. studio, portrait,
person, nude and product photography.

1. How to un erstan this instruction manual
1.1. Markings on the device
This marking mean, that your device meets the sa ety
requirements o all relevant European Directives.
This marking mean, that your device should be disposed in the
local disposal points.

1.2. Markings in this manual
Marking Meaning
Indicates the handling and consequences o sa ety
notes.
WARNING Indicates a hazardous situation, which, i not avoided,
could result in a serious injury or eath.
CAUTION Indicates a hazardous situation, which, i not avoided,
may result in minor or mo erate injury.

2. Important safety notes
WARNING
Risk of eye injury
The flash light coul affect the retina to blin ness, if a flash is triggere in
the near of persons an animals.
−Don´t flash the evice close to persons an animals.
−Make sure, that persons an animals have at least 2m istance to the
evice. Please avoi persons an animals looking into the flash irectly.
WARNING
Danger of crashing, entrapment an fire through the falling own of the
evice
The weight of the Powerpack is approx. 3,9kg, the weight of the charger
approx. 0,48kg, the weight of the battery approx. 1,3kg, the weight of the
Ring Flash approx. 1,1 kg an the weight of the Flash Light is approx. 1,6 kg.
The mo eling lamp, the flash tube an the reflector can heat up up to
240°C.
−Make sure, that the evice is always positione tilt an ski resistant
an store securely.
−Keep out of reach of chil ren an animals. They coul overturn the
evice.
−Avoi placing cables where they can be trippe over. The evice coul
be overturne .
−Select a tripo of suitable weight an imensions. See Technical
specifications.
WARNING
Danger of electric shock, burn hazar
Please note, that the evice is still connecte with the supply voltage even
if it is switche off. Just after isconnecting the evice from the power
supply through pulling out the power cable, the evice is actually e-
energize .
−Switch off your evice when it is not in use.
−Switch off your evice before mounting an maintenance an
isconnect from power supply.
−Discharge your evice before maintenance.
−Protect your evice against uninten e switching-on.
−Unplug the power cor , if the evice is not in use for a long time.
WARNING
Danger of electric shock, fire through short-circuit
A short-circuit coul be cause through efect cables an through humi ity
or moisture. A short-circuit can warm up the con uctors, so that there
isolation will melt or even melt thoroughly. This coul lea to fire.
−Please just use the original cables, which are inclu e in elivery. They
are aligne for your evice an guarantee the necessary safety for you
an your evice.

−Don´t operate the evice with wet han or feet.
−Please only follow this instruction manual for cleaning the evice.
−Make sure, that cables an con uctors won´t be amage . Damages
coul be cause through heat impact, chemical influence or through
mechanical impacts as rubbing, ben ing, tearing, rolling over or nibbling
animals.
−Prevent your evice against falling own.
In case of falling own, please let an electrician check the evice before
switching on again.
−If your evice shoul be amage or efect or if you notice a burning
smell:
Disconnect the power supply by pulling out the power cor
imme iately. Never operate your evice with amage housing, efect
lamps or amage power cor . Don´t open the evice. Never repair the
evice on your own. The evice shoul only be repaire by electricians.
−Please follow this instruction manual for maintaining your evice.
−Please just use spare parts, which are conform to the require
specifications. See Technical Specifications.
WARNING
Fire anger through overheating
The evice can overheat, when you operate it with mounte protection
cap. The evice itself an easily inflammable materials in close istance
coul catch fire.
−Don´t operate the evice with mounte protection cap.
−Don´t cover the ventilation slots of the evice uring operation.
−Remove easily inflammable materials, which are in close istance to the
evice.
−Please just use spare parts, which are conform to the require
specifications. See Technical Specifications.
WARNING
Fire anger through hot parts
The mo eling lamp an the flash tube can heat up up to 240°C, the reflector
up to 72°C. Easily inflammable materials can catch fire, if they are place
too close beyon a hot part.
−Don´t cover the ventilation slots of the evice uring operation.
−Remove easily inflammable materials.
WARNING
Danger of burning on hot parts
The mo eling lamp an the flash tube can heat up up to 240°C, the reflector
up to 72°C.
−Don´t touch the parts uring operation an cooling own.
−Please cool own your evice approx. 30 minutes before starting any
mounting or maintenance arrangements.
WARNING
Danger of cutting an splitting through breaking mo eling lamp an
breaking or bursting flash tube.
Even small resi ues of skin oil on the flash tube coul lea , ue to the
high heat impact, to the splitting of the flash tube. Broken glass coul
hurt eyes an skin.
−Please han le the mo eling lamp an flash tube with care to avoi
bursting.
−Don´t touch the flash tube with bare han s. Wear cotton gloves or use a
clean cloth.
−Avoi touching the flash tube acci entally when mounting or changing
accessories.

WARNING
The RD-600 inclu es a rechargeable NI-MH battery. Please follow the
safety notes in the manual an on the battery.
−Keep Battery Pack away from chil ren.
−Only use the charger or the power supply for charging the battery.
−The i eal ambient temperature is between 0°C an 40°C.
−The battery can get hot. Let it cool own before charging.
−Protect against moisture an humi ity.
−To guarantee an optimal lifetime, charge the battery every 3 months
even if it is unuse .
−Take out the battery from the charger as soon as the charging
proce ure is finishe .
−Dispose the battery at your local isposal point or sen it back to the
manufacturer.
−Only use the battery for the Battery Pack RD-600.

ADVICE:
The detailed instru tion for the following operations an be found in the
respe tive hapters in this instru tion manual.
Keep the sequen es of the following operation steps when using the devi e
for the first time to avoid damages.
WARNING
Please note the safety notes in the respective chapters throughout
operation.
1. Demount protection cap.
2. Mount re lector.
3. Insert modeling lamp.
4. Mount re lex umbrella (optional).
5. Connect the device to the power supply/insert battery.
6. Switch on device.
7. Adjust modeling lamp.
8. Adjust lash output.
9. Adjust audio operating display.
10. Prepare lash trigger.
11. Mount the device on a tripod (optional).

6.1. Charge battery

•Open the battery compartment.
•Pull the battery out o the Battery Pack.
•Connect the power supply unit to the electric power supply and connect
the adapter.
Advi e: Compare the local power supply with the connected load o the
device. I the values di er, please contact info@foto-walser.de or tel. +49

•Put the battery on the adapter.
•The battery will be charged.
•Once the battery is charged, the LED will change rom red to green.
•You can also charge the battery inside the Battery pack. For this purpose,
you have to connect the Battery Pack with the power supply unit.
6.2. Flash Light RD-600
Mount and demount protection cap/re lector:
WARNING
Posterior anger of bursting of flash tube
Make sure not to touch the flash tube with bare han s acci entally.
WARNING! Danger of burning on reflector, mo eling lamp an flash tube.
Let the evice cool own for approx. 30 minutes.

•Push back unlocking lever and keep pressed.
•Plug the re lector into the three openings, so that the opening or the
re lex umbrella (optional) aces downwards.
•Turn the re lector clockwise and listen or the re lector to snap into place.
•Release the unlocking lever.
•Stick the sa ety cap onto the unlocking lever.
Demount protection cap/re lector:
•Push back unlocking lever and keep pressed.

•Turn the re lector anticlockwise as ar as it will go and take o rom the
device.

•Adjust the desired height.

•Open the appropriate astening screw or adjusting the depth.

•For mounting the device on a tripod and on your camera, open the
appropriate astening screw.
•Take your tripod or camera and tighten the astening screw.
•I you would like to use the di usor, you can put it on the Ring Flash.
WARNING Select a tripo of suitable weight an imensions. See
Technical Specifications.
WARNING Make sure, that your camera is mounte stur ily an securely
before every use. Check all fastening screws.

•Insert the connection cable o the device and screw it on.
8. Switch the evice on an off
•When the protection cap is mounted on the Flash Light:
Remove protection cap. See Demount and mount prote tion ap.
WARNING! Danger of fire through heat accumulation. Never use the
evice with mounte protection cap.
•Switch on device:
Set main switch on I (ON).
•The display lights up and shows READY when the adjusted lash output is
reached.
•Switch o device:
Set main switch on O (OFF).
•All displays will go out.
9. A justments
9.1. Adjust lash output
You can adjust the lash output rom 1/1 ull output to 1/8.

9.2. Prepare and adjust lash trigger
Prepare flash trigger through camera
ADVICE:
Please note the user information from the amera manufa turer on erning
flash syn hronization.
1. Insert the snyc cord into the connection socket on the device.
2. Insert the other end o the sync cord into the X socket o your camera.
Prepare flash trigger through ra io receiver (optional)
ADVICE:
Please note the user information from the radio re eiver manufa turer.
Insert the cable o the radio receiver into the connection socket 3,5mm on
the device.
Put the radio transmitter on the hot shoe o your camera.
10. Trigger flash
•Switch on device. See Swit h devi e on and off.
•For checking the device, trigger a lash with the test button (at Battery Pack
or radio remote release).
•Trigger a lash according to the prepared type o lash triggering.
See Prepare and adjust flashes.
11. Transportation an storage
•Switch o device.
See Swit h the devi e on and off.

•Let the device cool down completely.

•Put the device and all demounted elements into the original styro oam box
and store them according to the requirements in the technical

13. Maintenance
13.1. Continuous inspections
What you shoul o? Before every
operation
Check all cables and plugs or damages. In case o
damage: WARNING! Danger o electric shock and ire
through short-circuit. The device/charger should be
repaired by an electrician immediately.

13.3. Change micro- use
WARNING

A micro-fuse, which is not conform with the require specifications, oesn´t
protect against the overloa ing of the evice.
Please just use a micro-fuse, which is conform with the require
specifications. See Technical Specifications.

•Disconnect rom power supply:
Unplug power supply unit/battery.
•Open use holder:
Use a small screwdriver to li t up the use holder care ully and slightly.
A Fuse holder
•Pull out the use holder completely out o the slot.
•Take out the old micro- use.
•Slide the new micro- use care ully into the slot and turn it with a
screwdriver clockwise.
