Intended Use
The Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion by Winncare, is an inatable liing device which is designed solely for
use as an aid for healthcare workers to li a person in the supine posion from the oor. When inated,
the Rhino lis the paent to the height of a bed or stretcher.
The Rhino is powered by a Mangar Duo Compressor.

WARNINGS
• This equipment MUST only be used by persons competent in its use.
• The medical state of a person needing to be raised MUST be assessed before commencing a li.
• An individual risk assessment should always be performed for each paent before use.
• Ensure that the surface on which the Rhino is to be placed is free from sharp objects. NOTE: Place a
blanket, groundsheet, towel or similar under the Rhino if using it on a rough surface.
• If a slide sheet has been used to transfer the paent onto the Rhino it must be removed from under
the paent before commencing a li.
• The 4 secons MUST always be fully inated in sequence from the boom up, in order to maintain
stability. Always deate the secons from top to boom whilst in use.
• Never leave a paent unaended on the Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion whilst it is inated.
• The Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion must only be inated using the Mangar Airo Duo. Do not aempt
to inate with other air supplies.
• Always ensure the paent is centered on the Mangar Rhino before and during inaon using the white
markings and safety straps as guidance.
• Ensure the Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion is the correct way up before inaon, with the white
markings showing on the top layer facing upwards and the inaon valves showing 1 at the boom
(closest to the ground) and 4 at the top (furthest from the ground).
• If using the Rhino with the Swi Transfer Slide, always ensure safety straps are disconnected from the
Swi once the lateral transfer is complete, and reconnected to the Rhino before performing a li.
Ensure that you read and understand this instrucon manual before using
this product. Failure to follow the instrucons and safety precauons in
this manual can result in damage and/or serious injury.

Posioning the paent on the Rhino - g.

• Posion the Rhino at the side of the paent
so that the paent’s shoulders are level with
the top arrows (A). NOTE: Place a blanket,
groundsheet, towel or similar under the Rhino
if using it on a rough surface.
Note: Before inang the Rhino, check that all
valves are in the INFLATE posion. (g.3) Valves
can be switched between INFLATE and DEFLATE
by pushing the grip inwards and twisng.
• Transfer the paent onto the Rhino. This can be
achieved by rst transferring the paent onto
the Mangar Swi, and then performing a lateral
transfer onto the Rhino.
WARNING: Always refer to the seperate
Mangar Swi User Instrucons before
operang .
• Before inaon of the Mangar Rhino, ensure
the paent is lying centrally on the Rhino, and
then secure the safety straps across the paent
(g.4), ensuring each side is connected to the
connectors on the Rhino Liing Cushion.
WARNING: The safety straps will become ghter
across the paent as the Rhino is inated, so do
not ghten fully before performing the li. Always
check throughout the li that the straps are not
becoming too ght around the paent.

• Connect the hose to the Airo Duo
compressor. (A)
• Place the Rhino liing cushion so it is at on the
ground with the paent outline facing upwards
and the numbered valves starng with number
1 at the boom. Ensure the air valves are facing
towards the foot end of the paent.
• Posion the Airo Duo compressor so that it
will not be in the way while posioning the
paent.
• The Airo Duo can be used with either mains
power or baery power. The pump will
automacally switch between mains or baery
power.

• To switch on, press the ‘Power’ buon (A g.6).
The baery state indicator (B g.6) will show
the baery capacity at the start of operaon.
• To switch o, press and hold the ‘Power’ buon
for 2 seconds. The indicator lights will go out.

Note: Always ensure all straps on the Rhino
are not caught under any objects before
performing the li.
WARNING: If a slide sheet has been used to
transfer the paent onto the Rhino it must
be removed from under the paent before
commencing a li.
• Switch the Airo Duo to ‘On’. Connect the hose
to the valve on the boom secon numbered 1
on the Rhino Liing Cushion to inate. (g.7)
• Push the hose onto valve 1 and ensure fully
connected. Once connected, the hose does not
require someone holding it during inaon.
• Once the rst secon is fully inated, this will
be indicated by the baery indicator lights
ashing green (g.8) on the Airo Duo display,
as well as an audible change in tone.
• Then disconnect the hose from valve 1 and
connect to valve 2 to inate the second secon
(g.9)
• Connue to connect the hose to valves 3 and
4 in sequence unl inaon is complete and
then disconnect the hose from the Rhino
(g.10)
WARNING: In order to maintain stability, secons
must always be fully inated from the boom up,
in sequence. Never deate the secons out of
order whilst a paent is on the Rhino.
• The paent is now in a posion to transfer
from the Rhino.
• If performing a transfer to a bed from the
Rhino using the Swi Transfer Slide, adjust the
bed to a slightly lower height than the Rhino
and always check that the brakes are applied to
the bed or receiving surface before performing
the transfer.

Note: To achieve the desired height, you may
use the liing cushion without inang all four
secons. Each inated secon must be fully
inated, and secons must never be inated/
deated out of sequence.
Note: To transfer a paent from the Rhino across
to another surface, a paent transfer board
should be considered based on an individual risk
assessment.
Emergency deaon for CPR:
• If a paent is on an inated Rhino and requires
CPR to be performed, the Rhino can be
deated to the required height that is suitable
for the person performing CPR.
• To deate the Rhino for CPR, always ensure
you deate the secons in order, from top to
boom to maintain stability.
• Push and turn both valves at the foot end of
the top secon (g.11) numbered 4 to the
DEFLATE posion to release the air. (g.12)
• If height is sll unsuitable, push and turn both
valves at the foot end of secon 3 to release
air. Connue with remaining two secons in
sequence if required.
Note: Aer emergency deaon, if re-inaon is
required to li paent, remember to turn valves
to the INFLATE posion before connecng the
pump. Open valves will prevent full inaon of the
secons.

Aer Use
• To deate once the device is no longer in use,
open all valves on secons 1-4 by pushing in
valve and twisng clockwise to the DEFLATE
posion. (g.13)
Note: While the Rhino is deang, the
user may start to roll up the Rhino to assist
deaon, however this is not necessary as the
product will deate unassisted.
• To pack away, fold up the Rhino beginning with
the head-end of the product. Ensure valves are
turned to the INFLATE posion and caps are
replaced aer use.
Roune Cleaning
Note: Always wipe clean any dirt or spills as soon
as they occur.
To clean, fully inate all secons of the Rhino,
sponge clean with a non abrasive proprietary liquid
cleaner or disinfectant. Clinell Universal wipes or
similar can be used. Dry thoroughly. Do not dry
using hot air.
Disinfecng
The Rhino should be fully inated and pre-cleaned
by washing with detergent and water, thoroughly
rinsed and then disinfected using a 1:10 soluon
of household liquid bleach and water (1 part
bleach to 10 parts cold water). Leave the soluon
on the Rhino for approximately 10 minutes before
thoroughly rinsing o with clean cold water. Allow
to air dry before storage. Do not dry using hot air.
Maintenance
Other than roune cleaning, the Rhino is
maintenance free.
Winncare recommends that your Rhino is
inspected annually by either your supplier or other
suitably qualied person.

inspecon within an annual service contract

Transportaon / Storage
Disconnect the Airo Duo compressor from the Rhino before transporng so as to avoid accidental
inaon of the cushion.
Ensure that the Rhino is clean and thoroughly dry before storing to prevent product damage. Store
in a dry environment.
Winncare recommends you ensure the Airo Duo is fully charged before storing. To maintain the
Airo Duo baery when being stored for long periods, ensure it is fully charged every 3 months.
Disposal / Recycling
When the Rhino has reached the end of its working life, dispose of it using your organisaon’s
recycling/disposal system.
When the Airo Duo has reached the end of it’s working life, remove the baery for safe disposal
and dispose of the Airo Duo using your organisaon’s recycling/disposal system.

The warranty is given against defects in material and workmanship and comprises piece, parts and labour.
The warranty is not valid in the case of fair wear and tear, wilful damage, common neglect, misuse or
unauthorised alteraon or repair by unqualied persons.
The following statements do not aect the consumer’s statutory rights. This product is sold on the
understanding that in the event of any defect of manufacture or material appearing within the warranty
period, the defect will be reced free of charge providing that:
(a) Reasonable evidence is provided (e.g. purchase invoice, delivery note) that the claim is being made
within the warranty period.
(b) The defect is not aributable to accidental damage (either in transit or otherwise), misuse or
unauthorised repair.
