Introducon
1 Introducon
1.1 Foreword
This user´ manual provides users and helpers with essenal informaon about the design, funcons, use and
maintenance of the Wolturnus Buzzard for children and adults. The manual contains the informaon necessary
to ensure safe use of any of these bikes. It contains troubleshoong informaon with soluons (where/if ap-
plicable). The bikes are all easy-propulsion acve sport bikes made with high-strength aluminum. The bikes are
ideal for users who want to have an acve life, outdoors on and o roads.
The instrucons in this manual are essenal for safe and correct use of the bike. Before using the bike, read
these instrucons carefully - pay special aenon to the safety instrucons. Furthermore, The informaon pro-
vided ensures that the user gets the opmum advantage of the bikes features and funcons. Keep this user´s
manual throughout the lifeme of the bike: it contains informaon for future quesons and it contains guide-
lines for adjusng and adapng the bike.
This user´s manual has been produced in accordance with DS EN82079-1 ’Preparaon of instrucons for use -
Structuring, content and presentaon’. It is divided into secons. The heading on each page contains the tle
of the overall secon. The footer of each page displays the page number, year, and site of origin of the user´s
manual. It also includes the handbike´s model.
1.2 Intended Use
The Wolturnus Buzzard are designed for individual mobility outdoors. It is only suitable for persons who are un-
able to walk or have a mobility problem. Only equipment specied in this user´s manual may be used with the
bikes, and vice versa.
Wolturnus A/S does not guarantee this product if it is used with accessories or products from manufacturers
other than those specied as part of the modular system.
Use of the bikes for any purpose other than the aforemenoned will be considered incorrect. In the event of
incorrect use, the user - i.e. not the manufacturer - is liable for resulng damage to persons or property.
These bikes may only be used by experienced users. For personal protecon and in order to ensure that the
bikes are used safely and correctly, it is a requirement that the user and helpers receive training and instrucons
prior to use of the bikes.
To ensure that the bikes are used correctly it has to be operated exclusively as described in this user´s manual.
The user bears nal responsibility for accident-free use.

1.3 Usage
The bikes are of modular design and versality makes it suitable for users who have dicules walking or who
have a mobility handicap as a result of:
• Paralysis
• Loss of limbs (leg amputaon)
• Limb defects or deformies
• Damaged or defecve limbs
• Other illnesses
When adapng the bike for the user, the following should be taken into account:
• Body, height and weight (max. load 120 kg.)
• Physical and mental constuon
• Age
• Residenal circumstances
• Surroundings

1.5 CE Compliance
The bikes meet the requirements of the European Commission Direcve 93/42/EEC for medical devices. The
product is classied as a Class 1 on the basis of the classicaon criteria for medical devices in accordance with
secon lX of the direcve. It follows that Wolturnus A/S has therefore, as manufacturer with sole liability, made
a declaraon of conformity in accordance with appendix Vll of the direcve.
1.6 Liability
Wolturnus A/S’ warranty only applies if the product is used in accordance with the specied circumstances,
purpose and instrucons. The frame is covered by a 2-year warranty. Other parts manufactured by Wolturnus
are covered by a 2-year warranty. Parts that are designed and manufactured by a third-party manufacturer and
mounted on a Wolturnus handbike are covered by a Wolturnus A/S warranty that is equal to the warranty pro-
vided to Wolturnus A/S by the third-party manufacturer.
Risk of injury with incorrect use
To avoid the risk of ngers geng caught in the
wheel spokes or wheel locks, and to avoid the
risk of the handbike pping, children should not
play with the handbike.

problems, please contact the dealer that you
bought the handbike from.

Wolturnus A/S is not liable for injury or damage caused by:
• Components and parts that are not authorised by Wolturnus A/S.
• Alteraon to the original surface treatment.
• Repairs or alteraons to the bike that are not carried out by Wolturnus A/S. All warranty repairs has to be
carried out by Wolturnus A/S.
• Incorrect use of the bike, or loads that exceed the construcon or specied maximum for the bike (in ac-
cordance with direcve 93/42/EEC for medical devices).
• Circumstances in which the handbike is used by any party other than the original owner/user.
• Circumstances involving bad weather or dangerous situaons, or in general all types of predictable negli-
gence.
• Lack of maintenance.
• Cleaning with agents that contain acid or alkaline products, with high-pressure equipment or similar.

1.7 Returns
In the event that the bike has to be returned to the supplier or to Wolturnus A/S, e.g. for repairs, it must be
transported in its original packaging for opmum protecon. It follows that Wolturnus A/S recommends that the
original packaging is retained throughout the lifeme of the bike.

2.1 Symbols
2.2 Standards and Direcves
All safety informaon in this user´s manual is based on applicable naonal laws and regulaons in the EU. For
other countries, a declaraon of conformity with applicable laws and naonal regulaons is required.
In addion to the safety instrucons contained in this user´s manual, the user must be familiar with and must
comply with applicable regulaons from professional associaons, concerning accident prevenon and regard-
ing environmental protecon. All informaon contained in this user´s manual must be complied at all mes
without limitaons. The bikes are constructed in accordance with applicable regulaons. The bikes safety level is
approved by CE cercaon and a declaraon of conformity.
2.3 General Safety Instrucons
• The bike may p over.
• The bike must only be used according to instrucon in this manual.
• The bike must only be used by trained users and must not be used by any other person than the user.
• The bike must only be used to transport one person at a me.
• All safety instrucons in this user´s manual and all other relevant documentaon must be kept and com-
plied with throughout the lifeme of the bike. The user´s manual must always be available to the user.
• The back and seat upholstery is re-resistent, but can be ignited. Therefore extreme care must be taken
when in vicinity of ammable items and re i.e. lit cigarees.
• To avoid discomfort when using the bike, damaged back or seat upholstery should be replaced as soon as
possible.
• Do not force the bike over obstacles when using it on slopes.
• The bike must not be used on stairs.
• Avoid geng in or out of the bike while on slopes.
• Do not park on slopes that exceed 7°, even when the brake pads are acvitated.
2.4 Safety Requirements for Transport, Assembly and Storage
• Only suitable liing mechanisms must be used when transporng the handbike.
• When adjusng and adapng the bike, all aachment features - such as screws and nuts - must be fastened
according to the instrucons in this manual.
• The bike is not intended to be used as a seat when in a motor vehicle.

2.5 Safety Requirements in Usage
• The user and helpers must always ensure that the bike and its safety features are in a proper and safe con-
dion before using the bike.
• The bike must be inspected by a Wolturnus-authorised specialist at least once a year in order to ensure that
the bike is in proper working order and safe to use.
• The bike must immediately cease to be used if any feature is defecve or not operaonal or if any other
circumstance arises which could lead to injury.
• Before starng to use the bike, all mechanical adjustments (posioning the seat, accessories, etc.) must
be carried out in accordance with the user’s individual preferences, prerequirements and abilies. These
adjustments may only be carried out by by specialists authorized by Wolturnus.
• 120 kg is the maximum load for the bike. It must not be exceeded.
• The bike res must be inspected visually before use to ensure that there is sucient tread depth and cor-
rect re pressure. The correct pressure is printed on the re.
• When used on public roads, the user must obey applicable trac rules.
• The bike should not be used on slippery surfaces (e.g. ice) or on very rough terrain (e.g. on gravel or small
stones).
• When geng in and out of the bike, the user’s full weight should not be placed on the steering wheel. These
cannot bear full body weight.
• Change direcon at reduced speed only.
• The bike must only be lied by gripping the frame parts. Do not grip the steering components or gears to
li the bike.
• The bike must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, to high humidity or to environments with chlorine
(e.g. in saunas or at swimming pools).
• The bike’s surface temperature can raise if it is exposed to extreme heat, e.g. in strong sunlight for an ex-
tended period of me. There is also a risk of very low surface temperature in the event of extremely cold
weather.
• Never place ngers between the wheel spokes or between the rear wheel and the wheel locks. Cauon is
advised when travelling through narrow passages.
2.6 User requirements
• Before starng to use the bike, the user and any helpers must read the user´s manual thoroughly and be
familiar with its contents.
• The bike must only be used by trained users. To ensure this, the user and any helpers has to receive instruc-
on in use of the chair from Wolturnus-authorised specialists.

3 Product Descripon
Buzzard:
The Buzzard handbike is an excellent rst bike to experience the joy of handcycling. The Buzzard is a one size ts
all handbike with a standard brake and gearing setup, perfect for users whom does not yet have a preference in
how the bike should be tailored.
The Buzzard comes with several adjustable features such as the back, which can be chosen as a touring backrest
with Bodypoint strapping or a sports backrest as on the Antaras, and an adjustable crank. These allow the user
to setup the handbike to their liking, without comming to a specic set of measurements.
As on all the Wolturnus handbikes, the frame is heat-treated 7020 aluminium and the frame is powder-coated to
guarentee maximum durability. The frame construcon ensure fantasc road grip and handling.
The Buzzard can also be acuried with an electric engine, which can be ideal for long trips or the people that just
need that extra support.

Delivery and preparaon for use
4 Delivery and Preparaons before Usage
4.1 Delivery
The delivery covers:
• The bike with main components
• User manual
• Selected accessories (Accessories range: see secon 7)
Wolturnus A/S delivers the Buzzard ready for use. All conguraons that are part of the order have been made
or will be set up upon delivery by the supplier or a consultant. The Buzzard is adapted to meet the user’s per-
sonal preferences and requirements. The handbike’s funcons can be tested by following the instrucons in
secon 6 in this manual.
Troubleshoong: see secon 9.
4.2 Preparaon before Usage
Before starng to use the bike, it must be inspected to ensure that it is complete (Image 3) and that all func-
ons and features are in proper working order. Wolturnus A/S delivers the bike ready for use.

Transport and storage
5 Transport and Storage
5.1 Transport
For transport or storage, the rear wheels can be removed. This makes it easy to handle and saves space. While
in storage keep the bike in a clean and dry environment.
5.2 Transfer
The method of transfer between chair and bike is individually selected reecng the preferences of the user.
The most common method is transferring from the side.
The following descripon is based on transfer without third-party help and from a wheelchair to the handbike.
Geng into the bike (Image 4-5):
• Park the wheelchair next to the bike in a slight angle.
• Tip one leg over the bikes seang area, while keeping your balance. Use the bike frame and wheelchair as
support for the transfer.
• Slowly slide down into the bike seat, and place leg(s) into the footrest(s).
Geng out of the bike (Image 4-5):
• Park the wheelchair next to the bike, with the wheelchairs’ front towards the side of the bike.
• Take your leg(s) out of the footrest, and place them in an angle.
• Pull yourself towards an upright possion in the bike.
• Use the bike frame and the wheelchair to li yourself up onto the wheelchair.
Risk of damage due to overload.
When geng in and out of the chair, the user must not place full body weight on the footrests.

Transport and storage
5.3 Storage
When dissembling the handbike for either storage or transport do the following procedure.
Disassembling front- wheel and fork (Note this may change depending on model)(Image 6):
• Disconnect cables for engine and rear disc brakes
• Unscrew the front wheel and remove it.
• Unscrew the compensator.
• Unscrew the stem.
• Remove the topcap and the steering tube.
• Now take o the front fork (make sure frame and fork are completely disconnected before disassembling
the handbike).
Reassembling the front- wheel and fork (Image 7):
• Put in the steering tube and ghten the topcap.
• Carefully ghten the top clamp, so it is not too ght.
• Screw top bolt, so that the fork is ed perfectly on the frame.
• Put front wheel back on.
• Tighten all bolts and nuts.
Disassembling the rear wheel:
• Screw o the locking bolt.
• If the model has rear disc brakes, dismount the disc brake caliber before removing the wheel.
• Remove the rear wheel
The operaon temperature is between 0°C & 45°C and storage temperature -20°C & 45°C, to avoid damage.

6 Adjustments and Setup
6.1 Adjustable Features
The handbike can be adjusted in various ways.
When delivered, the height, width and angle of the seat and the back have been posioned in accordance with
the customer’s order as received by Wolturnus A/S.
The following can be adjusted by the user:
• The back angle.
• The seat depth.
• The footrest’s length.
6.2 Tools
The following tools (Image 8) are necessary for adjustments
and sengs described in this secon:
• A 4 mm Allen key (1)
• A 5 mm Allen key (1)
• A 8 mm Allen key (1)
• A 10 mm single-head wrench (2)
• A 13 mm single-head wrench (2)
• A torque wrench (3)
• A measuring tape, a foot rule or a ruler (4)
• A bubble level (5)
Risk of accident due to loose screws
Aer loosening any threaded screws, they must be replaced with new screws or secured once more with a
medium-strength thread paste (e.g. EuroLock A24.20). Aer making adjustments to the handbike, all screws
and nuts must be ghtened correctly.

6.3 Adjustment of the Footrest
The footrest is adjusted by loosening the clamp. Aer loosening the clamp, adjust the footrest forward or back-
wards, depending on the customers requirements. Depending on the model, you can also adjust angle or rem-
ove a footrest (Image 9).
The straps that ensures the leg(s) will not come out of the footrest while biking. Wolturnus always suggests
strapping down the legs, for a more safe ride (Image 10).
6.4 Adjustment of Seat
The seat is adjusted by ghtening or loosening the
straps (Image 11).

6.5 Adjustment of Back
The backrest can be adjusted to t the users current needs or wishes. These adjustments can be done as the
user pleases, though not while biking.
• Unscrew bolt at the boom of the back rest (Image 13).
• Now you can slide the underside of the seat back- and forwards.
• Loosen the clamp on the pole behind the backrest (Image 14).
• Adjust the length of the pole, to change the angle of the seat.
• Reghten all screws and bolts.
6.6 Adjustment of Compensator
The compensator helps realigning the bikes direcon aer making a corner or change of direcon. The compen-
sator can be adjusted to t the needs of the user. The compensator can help users who have more strength in
one side or another. Adjust the compensator by doing the following:
• Loosen the bolt on top of the compensator (Image 15).
• Slide the bolt into the desired posion.
• Tighten the bolt.
Ensure that the back angle is adjusted equally
on both sides, so that aer adjustment, the back
locks correctly into place both when upright posi-
on and folded posion.
WARNING!
Make sure aer all types of adjustments, that all
screws and bolts are ghtened and in place, to
avoid any type of accident.

6.7 Adjustment of Crank
The Crank can be adjusted to t the individual user. When delivered the crank will be in its fully extended posi-
on. It is recommended to try the bike as delivered for a couple of trips before adjusng.
If a user wants to adjust the crank, be aware that the chain has to be adjusted and shortened as well, otherwise
the handbike will not funcon properly, as the chain can become loose and potenally cause damage.
If a user chooses to adjust the crank by for example - 4 cm, the chain has to be shortened by approximately - 4
cm as well. A tutorial to shorten the chain can be seen further below (6.8).
• Unscrew the two bolts at the top tube (Image 16).
• Pull in to reach the desired length (Image 17)
• Tighten the two bolts (Image 18)
6.8 Shortening of chain
If the Crank has been adjusted, the chain will have to be shortened accordingly. For example, if a user has adju-
sted the crank by - 4 cm, the chain has to be shortened by approximately - 4 cm as well.
The following tools are required to shorten the chain:
1. Chain tool
2. Masterlink pliers
• Locate the masterlink chain link (Image 19).
• Use the masterlink pliers to undo the chain (Image 20)
• Use the chain tool to shorten the chain to t the new crank length (Image 21)
• Reaach the chain back with the masterlink and masterlink pliers (Image 22)

6.9 Set-up Display and Controller
The Buzzard can be equipped with an electric Bafang motor and baery, which is an oponal extra that is possi-
ble to choose when ordering a Buzzard. The electric Bafang motor is not possible to t on an already constructed
Buzzard, it has to be born with it.
If the Buzzard handbike is ordered with a Bafang engine, an Intelligent HMI display from Bafang, which controls
the engine and monitors the baery, will be mounted on the Buzzard handbike.
To Turn On/O:
To turn on your display press and hold the ”Switch Buon” for 2 seconds, in order for power up the display.
To turn o the display press and hold the ”Switch Buon” for 2 seconds. If the bike have not been used aer 5
minutes, the display will automac turn o.
Assist Mode Selecon:
Change the desired electric support by pressing the up- or down buon. Switch between 5 levels of power as-
sistance. Or use gas pedel to overwrite Power Level Assist.
Make sure not to turn on any electronic compo-
nents on, unl driver is all the way in the seat,
failure to do so can course the bike to start wit-
hout a driver and course harm to driver and by-
standers.

6.10 Baery
The baery for the Bafang engine is mounted on the rear of the handbike, behind the seat.
The Baery has a charge me at approximately 4 hours, and should be charged every two weeks.
The baery should be charged every two weeks,
even though it is not used, to extend baery life.

7 Accessories and Equipment
A wide range of accessories and equipment are available for Wolturnus acve handbikes. The most popular
accessories are described in this secon. To see the full range of accessories and order informaon go to www.

7.1 Electric Bafang motor
The Buzzard is available with an electric motor which can assist the user at various levels.
7.2 Wireless computer
All the Wolturnus bikes can be delivered with bike computers, to monitor me, speed, power etc.
7.3 Bolecage
The bole cage is mounted on the frame, next to or behind the seat. It is easily accessible while in a seated po-
sion, and can hold dierent types of boles.
7.4 Cushion for seat
The bike can be delivered with a 30mm thick cushion for extra comfort.
7.5 Flag
Geng a ag for your handbike ensure visibility and thereby increases your safety while on public roads, as this
will help both motor vehicles, pedestrians and other bikes to spot you in the trac.
7.6 Mirror
A rear view mirror enables the rider to be informed about the surroundings with lile to no eort.

8 Cleaning and Maintenance
8.1 Maintenance
Each me the handbike is used, operaonal parts, and parcularly wheel locks, should be checked to ensure that
they are in proper working order. Aer being loosened 2-3 mes when making adjustments or changing parts,
self-locking nuts should be replaced.

Wolturnus A/S recommends that the handbike is serviced at least once a year by the supplier or Wolturnus A/S.
8.2 Cleaning and Disinfecon
The bike should be cleaned regularly according to how oen it is used and how dirty it is.
Clean the frame, plasc parts and wheels with a mild cleaning agent. Aer cleaning, dry all parts with a dry cloth.
Clean cushions and upholstery with warm water and washing-up liquid. Remove stains with a sponge or a so
brush. Rinse aerwards with clean water and allow the parts to dry before mounng and using.
To disinfect, use water-based agents and follow the manufacturer’s instrucons.
