Introducon
1 Introducon
1.1 Foreword
This user´s manual provides users and helpers with essenal informaon about the design,
funcons, use and maintenance of the Wolturnus Fatbike for children and adults. The manual
contains the informaon necessary to ensure safe use of any of these bikes. It contains trouble-
shoong informaon with soluons (where/if applicable). The bikes are all easy-propulsion
acve sport bikes made with high-strength aluminum. The bikes are ideal for users who want
to have an acve life, outdoors on and o roads.
The instrucons in this manual are essenal for safe and correct use of the bike. Before using
the bike, read these instrucons carefully - pay special aenon to the safety instrucons.
Furthermore, The informaon provided ensures that the user gets the opmum advantage of
the bikes features and funcons. Keep this user´s manual throughout the lifeme of the bike: it
contains informaon for future quesons and it contains guidelines for adjusng and adapng
the bike.
This user´s manual has been produced in accordance with DS EN82079-1 ’Preparaon of in-
strucons for use - Structuring, content and presentaon’. It is divided into secons. The
heading on each page contains the tle of the overall secon. The footer of each page displays
the page number, year, and site of origin of the user´s manual. It also includes the handbike´s
model.
1.2. Intended Use
The Wolturnus Fatbikes are designed for individual mobility outdoors. It is only suitable for
persons who are unable to walk or have a mobility problem. Only equipment specied in this
user´s manual may be used with the bikes, and vice versa.
Wolturnus A/S does not guarantee this product if it is used with accessories or products from
manufacturers other than those specied as part of the modular system.
Use of the bikes for any purpose other than the aforemenoned will be considered incorrect.
In the event of incorrect use, the user - i.e. not the manufacturer - is liable for resulng damage
to persons or property.
These bikes may only be used by experienced users. For personal protecon and in order to
ensure that the bikes are used safely and correctly, it is a requirement that the user and helpers
receive training and instrucons prior to use of the bikes.
To ensure that the bikes are used correctly it has to be operated exclusively as described in this
user´s manual. The user bears nal responsibility for accident-free use.

The bikes are of modular design and versality makes it suitable for users who have dicules
walking or who have a mobility handicap as a result of:
• Paralysis
• Loss of limbs (leg amputaon)
• Limb defects or deformies
• Damaged or defecve limbs
• Other illnesses
When adapng the bike for the user, the following should be taken into account:
• Body, height and weight (max. load 140 kg.)
• Physical and mental constuon
• Age
• Residenal circumstances
• Surroundings

Wolturnus A/S strives to provide full assistance to its customers in every respect. For Woltur-
nus A/S contact informaon and a list of service locaons - go to secon 13 in this manual.
If the handbike has to be returned for repairs we oer to loan you a temporary
handbike. For further informaon, please contact Wolturnus A/S.
Risk of injury with incorrect use
To avoid the risk of ngers geng caught in the wheel spokes or wheel locks, and to avoid
the risk of the handbike pping, children should not play with the handbike.
WARNING!
Service and repairs to the Wolturnus handbike must only be carried out by authorised personnel trained by
Wolturnus A/S. In the event of problems, please contact the dealer that you bought the handbike from.

1.5 CE Compliance
The bikes meet the requirements of the European Commission Direcve 93/42/EEC for medi-
cal devices. The product is classied as a Class 1 on the basis of the classicaon criteria for
medical devices in accordance with secon lX of the direcve. It follows that Wolturnus A/S has
therefore, as manufacturer with sole liability, made a declaraon of conformity in accordance
with appendix Vll of the direcve.
1.6 Liability
Wolturnus A/S’ warranty only applies if the product is used in accordance with the specied
circumstances, purpose and instrucons. The frame is covered by a 2-year warranty. Other
parts manufactured by Wolturnus are covered by a 2-year warranty. Parts that are designed
and manufactured by a third-party manufacturer and mounted on a Wolturnus handbike are
covered by a Wolturnus A/S warranty that is equal to the warranty provided to Wolturnus A/S
by the third-party manufacturer.
Wolturnus A/S is not liable for injury or damage caused by:
• Components and parts that are not authorised by Wolturnus A/S.
• Alteraon to the original surface treatment.
• Repairs or alteraons to the bike that are not carried out by Wolturnus A/S. All warranty
repairs has to be carried out by Wolturnus A/S.
• Incorrect use of the bike, or loads that exceed the construcon or specied maximum for
the bike (in accordance with direcve 93/42/EEC for medical devices).
• Circumstances in which the handbike is used by any party other than the original owner/
user.
• Circumstances involving bad weather or dangerous situaons, or in general all types of
predictable negligence.
• Lack of maintenance.
• Cleaning with agents that contain acid or alkaline products, with high-pressure equipment
or similar.

1.7 Returns
In the event that the bike has to be returned to the supplier or to Wolturnus A/S, e.g. for re-
pairs, it must be transported in its original packaging for opmum protecon. It follows that
Wolturnus A/S recommends that the original packaging is retained throughout the lifeme of
the bike.

2.1 Symbols
2.2 Standards and Direcves
All safety informaon in this user´s manual is based on applicable naonal laws and regulaons
in the EU. For other countries, a declaraon of conformity with applicable laws and naonal
regulaons is required.
In addion to the safety instrucons contained in this user´s manual, the user must be fami-
liar with and must comply with applicable regulaons from professional associaons, concer-
ning accident prevenon and regarding environmental protecon. All informaon contained
in this user´s manual must be complied at all mes without limitaons. The bikes are con-
structed in accordance with applicable regulaons. The bikes safety level is
approved by CE cercaon and a declaraon of conformity.

2.3 General Safety Instrucons
• The bike may p over.
• The bike must only be used according to instrucon in this manual.
• The bike must only be used by trained users and must not be used by any other person
than the user.
• The bike must only be used to transport one person at a me.
• All safety instrucons in this user´s manual and all other relevant documentaon must be
kept and complied with throughout the lifeme of the bike. The user´s manual must always
be available to the user.
• The back and seat upholstery is re-resistent, but can be ignited. Therefore extreme care
must be taken when in vicinity of ammable items and re i.e. lit cigarees.
• To avoid discomfort when using the bike, damaged back or seat upholstery should be
replaced as soon as possible.
• Do not force the bike over obstacles when using it on slopes.
• The bike must not be used on stairs.
• Avoid geng in or out of the bike while on slopes.
• Do not park on slopes that exceed 7°, even when the brake pads are acvitated.
2.4 Safety Requirements for Transport, Assembly and Storage
• Only suitable liing mechanisms must be used when transporng the handbike.
• When adjusng and adapng the bike, all aachment features - such as screws and nuts
- must be fastened according to the instrucons in this manual.
• The bike is not intended to be used as a seat when in a motor vehicle.
2.5 Safety Requirements in Usage
• The user and helpers must always ensure that the bike and its safety features are in a
proper and safe condion before using the bike.
• The bike must be inspected by a Wolturnus-authorised specialist at least once a year in
order to ensure that the bike is in proper working order and safe to use.
• The bike must immediately cease to be used if any feature is defecve or not operaonal
or if any other circumstance arises which could lead to injury.
• Before starng to use the bike, all mechanical adjustments (posioning the seat, acces-
sories, etc.) must be carried out in accordance with the user’s individual preferences, pre-
requirements and abilies. These adjustments may only be carried out by by specialists
authorized by Wolturnus.
• 120 kg is the maximum load for the bike. It must not be exceeded.
• The bike res must be inspected visually before use to ensure that there is sucient tread
depth and correct re pressure. The correct pressure is printed on the re.

• When used on public roads, the user must obey applicable trac rules.
• The bike should not be used on slippery surfaces (e.g. ice) or on very rough terrain (e.g. on
gravel or small stones).
• When geng in and out of the bike, the user’s full weight should not be placed on the ste-
ering wheel. These cannot bear full body weight.
• Change direcon at reduced speed only.
• The bike must only be lied by gripping the frame parts. Do not grip the steering compo-
nents or gears to li the bike.
• The bike must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, to high humidity or to
environments with chlorine (e.g. in saunas or at swimming pools).
• The bike’s surface temperature can raise if it is exposed to extreme heat, e.g. in strong sun-
light for an extended period of me. There is also a risk of very low surface temperature
in the event of extremely cold weather.
• Never place ngers between the wheel spokes or between the rear wheel and the wheel
locks. Cauon is advised when travelling through narrow passages.
2.6 User requirements
• Before starng to use the bike, the user and any helpers must read the user´s manual
thoroughly and be familiar with its contents.
• The bike must only be used by trained users. To ensure this, the user and any helpers has
to receive instrucon in use of the chair from Wolturnus-authorised specialists.

2.7 Type Labels
A type label is aached to the handbike. The type label includes the following informaon:
Manufacturer and producon site
The handbikes year of producon
The Model or the type name of handbike
The serial number of the handbike
The maximum allowed weight of the user
The handbike is not intended to be used as a seat in a motor vehicle
The handbike is intended to be used as seat in a motor vehicle
Read the user´s manual before using the handbike
The type label is placed on the cross tube under the seat facing forward as shown on Fig. 1
(page 16)

3 Product Descripon
With the Fatbike, handbike enthusiasts get new opportunies for unfolding on all kinds of sur-
faces and no maer what the weather what forecast says. This handbike has extra large res
that are ideal for driving on unstable surfaces like snow, gravel, sand or mud. Fatbike is there-
fore designed for o-road driving
The Fatbike has an adjustable seat and back, making it easy to customize to the rider’s indivi-
dual needs. To ensure a comfortable and healthy seang posion, Fatbike is also equipped with
Wing Back ILSA, Wolturnus patented backrest system, which is both mul-ducle, lightweight
and provides the opmumal support while driving on uneven terrain.
Fatbike has both hand pedals and a support engine to make the uno driving more enjoyable.
Fatbike is equipped with a 250W engine that can drive up to 60km on one charge and adds
about 8kg to the total weight of the handbike.
Fatbike has an increased clearance height of 20 cm (compared to the racebikes) and 26 ”front
wheel and 20” drive wheel. The handbrake is manufactured in 7020 aluminum, making it both
extremely solid and easy.
Fatbike has powerful disc brakes both front and rear as well as a 11 gear gear system. This
makes Fatbike perfect for praconers of all levels.

4 Delivery and Preparaons before Usage
4.1 Delivery
The delivery covers:
• The bike with main components
• The user´s manual
• Selected accessories (Accessories range. Go to secon 7 in this manual)
Wolturnus A/S delivers the Fatbike ready for use. All conguraons that are part of the order
have been made or will be set up upon delivery by the supplier or a consultant. The Fatbike is
adapted to meet the user’s personal preferences and requirements. The handbike’s funcons
can be tested by following the instrucons in secon 6 in this manual.

4.2 Preparaon before Usage
Before starng to use the bike, it must be inspected to ensure that it is complete (Fig. 3) and
that all funcons and features are in proper working order. Wolturnus A/S delivers the bike
ready for use.

Transport and storage
5 Transport and Storage
5.1 Transport
For transport or storage, the rear wheels can be removed. This makes it easy to handle and
saves space. While in storage keep the bike in a clean and dry environment.
5.2 Transfer
The method of transfer between chair and bike is individually selected reecng the preferen-
ces of the user. The most common method is transferring from the side.
The following descripon is based on transfer without third-party help and from one
handbike to the bike.
Geng into the bike (Fig. 4-5)
• Park the handbike next to the bike in a slight angle.
• Tip one leg over the bikes seang area, while keeping your balance. Use the bike frame and
handbike as support for the transfer.
• slowly slide down into the bike seat, and place leg(s) into the footrest(s).
Geng out of the bike (Fig. 4-5)
• Park the handbike next to the bike, with the handbikes front towards the side of the bike.
• Take your leg(s) out of the footrest, and place them in an angle.
• Pull yourself towards an upright possion in the bike.
• Use the bike frame and the handbike to li yourself up onto the handbike.
