Installation and operating instructions for RR501
Wireless remote controls such as the KR19A and HR12A send
wireless Radio Frequency (RF) signals to the RR501 Transceiver.
The RR501 then passes the signals onto your house wiring to
controllightsorappliancesaroundyourhome.Youpluglightsand
appliances into X10 Modules (sold separately).
1. Plug the RR501 Transceiver into any 120V AC outlet. Fully
extend its antenna.
2. UseadimetosettheHousecodedialontheRR501tomatchthe
X10 Modules and remote control you will be using it with.
3. Set the slide switch on the RR501 to the code you want it to
respond to (1 or 9).
4. Plug a lamp or appliance into the outlet on the RR501 (observe
the ratings on the back of the RR501).
5. Press the small button on the RR501 to test that the lamp/
appliance goes on and off.
6. Install4AAA alkaline batteries in the remote control (HR12A,
sold separately).
7. Press 1 (or 9) ON and OFF on the remote control to control the
light/appliance connected to the RR501.
8. Pressthe corresponding ON or OFF button (1-8 or9-16) on the
remote control to turn X10 Modules on/off.
9. You can also turn the light/appliance connected to the RR501
on and off from any X10 plug-in controller. Set the small slide
switchontheRR501to1or9foritto respond to either of those
codes from an X10 controller. RR501-11/02

• Move the equipment away from the radio/TV.
• Plug the equipment into an outlet on a different electrical circuit from the radio/TV
experiencing the interference.
• If necessary, consult your local Dealer for additional suggestions.
NOTE: Modifications to this product will void the user's authority to operate this equipment.
