Anwendung
- Die Pumpen der Baureihe DDC werden zur Zirkulation von Kühlwasser in
Computerkühlsystemen eingesetzt.
Ausführung
- Bei den DDC Pumpen handelt es sich um Kugelmotorpumpen, die sich
durch eine besondere Laufruhe und lange Lebensdauer auszeichnen.
- Der Motor wird elektronisch kommutiert, weshalb die Pumpen einen hohen
Wirkungsgrad aufweisen.
- Die elektronische Kommutierung erzeugt einen sinusförmigen Spannungs-
verlauf,wodurchKommutierungsgeräuschepraktischvollkommenentfallen.
- Die DDC Pumpe wird mit seitlich angebrachten Befestigungslaschen
geliefert.
- Alle DDC Pumpen verfügen über 3/8“ Schlauchanschlüsse.
- DDC-1: Pumpe mit Anschlusslitzen für Plus und Minus, ohne Stecker
- DDC-1P:Pumpe mit Festplatten-Buchse
- DDC-1T:Pumpe mit Festplatten-Buchse für die Stromversorgung und
zusätzlichem Stecker für die Drehzahlanzeige im Bios. Dazu wird dieser
Stecker auf dem Motherboard anstelle eines Lüfters eingesteckt. Die dann
im Bios angezeigte Drehzahl entspricht der Pumpendrehzahl.

- Der Einbau der Pumpe

Dies ist deshalb sinn-
voll damit dieAbwärme
der Pumpe nicht vor,
sondern nach dem zu
kühlenden Prozessor
dem Medium zugeführt
wird.
- Vor der Pumpe muss

muss so dimensioniert
sein, dass sich immer
genug Flüssigkeit im
System bendet.

Einbau
- Der Einbau der Pumpe erfolgt in
den Kühlkreislauf vor dem luftge-
kühlten Wärmetauscher. Dies ist
deshalb sinnvoll damit die Abwär-
me der Pumpe nicht vor, sondern
nach dem zu kühlenden Prozessor
dem Medium zugeführt wird.
- Vor der Pumpe muss ein Ausdeh-
nungsgefäß ange-bracht sein.
Dies muss so dimensioniert sein,
dass sich immer genug Flüssigkeit
im System bendet.
- Die Pumpe muss auf jeden Fall
niedriger angebracht werden als
das Ausdehnungsgefäß.
- Vorzugsweise sollte die Pumpe am tiefsten Punkt des Systems angebracht
werden.
- Die Pumpe wird auf eine ebene Fläche aufgeschraubt. Ein Verspannen der
Pumpe durch die Befestigungsschrauben ist auf jeden Fall zu vermeiden.
Einbaulage
- Die Pumpe kann entweder an der seitlichen Wand oder auf dem Boden des
Computers befestigt werden. Ein Fördern nach unten oder eine Montage
auf dem Kopf stehend ist nicht zulässig.

Elektrischer Anschluss
- Die DDC Pumpe braucht zum Betrieb 12V Gleichstrom. Beim Anschluß
ist auf die richtige Polung zu achten (gelbe Litze Pluspol, schwarze Litze
Minuspol)
- Die DDC-1P und DDC-1T sind bereits mit einem Stecker für die Strom-
versorgung ausgerüstet.
-Bei der DDC-1T kann zudem noch der Stecker, der nur mit einer Litze
ausgerüstet ist, in einen Lüfteranschluss am Motherboard eingesteckt
werden. Dann erfolgt im Bios die Anzeige der Pumpendrehzahl.
Inbetriebnahme
- Der Kühlkreislauf muss vor der Inbetriebnahme des Computers funk-
tionieren, da sonst selbst in kurzer Zeit die CPU überhitzen und Schaden
nehmen kann.
- Vor Inbetriebnahme der Pumpe ist sicher zu stellen, dass das System
vollständig gefüllt ist.
- Danach kann die Pumpe eingeschaltet werden.
- Hörbare Strömungsgeräusche weisen darauf hin, dass sich in der Pumpe
noch Luft bendet. Durch mehrmaliges Ein- und Ausschalten wird die Ent-
lüftung beschleunigt. Dies geschieht am besten dadurch, dass man den
Stecker der Pumpe etwa 2 Sekunden auszieht und dann wieder einsteckt.
- Bei dem Entlüftungsvorgang ist sicherzustellen, dass sich immer genügend
Flüssigkeit im Ausdehnungsgefäss bendet, da sonst über das Ausdeh-
nungsgefäß wieder neue Luft eingesaugt wird.
- Ist die Luft nach mehreren Minuten immer noch nicht aus der Pumpe
entwichen, ist das System erneut zu befüllen.
- In jedem Fall ist zu vermeiden, dass die Pumpe längere Zeit trocken läuft,
da sonst das Lager Schaden nimmt.

Wartung
- Die Pumpe bedarf keiner Wartung. Es gibt keine Verschleißteile, die vom
Benutzer gewechselt werden können.
- Wichtig für einen sicheren Betrieb ist, dass die Pumpe immer genug
Wasser hat, da ein Betrieb mit Luft dem Pumpenlager schadet und die
Fördermenge sinken lässt.
- Bendet sich Luft im System, so ist dies durch ein deutliches Rauschen
erkennbar.
- Sollten sich grobe Verunreinigungen oder Ablagerungen im System benden,
so gehen Sie bitte vor wie im Kapitel Betriebsstörungen beschrieben.
Betriebsstörungen
- Wenn die Pumpe nicht läuft,
ist zunächst zu überprüfen,
ob Spannung an der Pumpe
anliegt.
- Läuft die Pumpe trotzdem
noch nicht, stecken Sie sie
mehrmals ein und aus.
- Läuft die Pumpe dann immer
noch nicht, so ist sie vermutlich
durch im System bendliche
grobe Verunreinigungen oder
Ablagerungen blockiert
- Entleeren Sie in diesem Fall
das System und nehmen Sie
die Pumpe aus dem Computer
heraus.
- Öffnen Sie dann die Pumpe,
indem Sie die 4 Gehäuse-
schrauben auf der Unterseite
der Pumpe öffnen.
- Nehmen Sie das Pumpen-
gehäuse ab und ziehen Sie
von Hand den Rotor aus dem
Stator.
- Reinigen Sie den Rotor und
den Stator miteinem trockenen
Tuch und entfernen Sie allen
Schmutz in der Pumpe.

- Nach dem Wiedereinsetzen des Rotors in den Stator muss überprüft werden
ob sich der Rotor dreht, wenn die Pumpe eingeschaltet wird. Achtung: um
einen Kurzschluss zu vermeiden, muss die Pumpe zum Funktionstest
vollständig trocken sein!
- Wenn der Rotor sich dreht, muss als Nächstes der Dichtring aus dem
Stator genommen und sorgfältig gereinigt werden.
- Danach wird der Dichtring wieder in den Stator eingelegt und das Pum-
pengehäuse mit den vier Befestigungsschrauben angeschraubt.
- Sollte die Pumpe immer noch nicht funktionieren oder wenn sich der Rotor
bei der Funktionskontrolle nicht dreht, so ist die Pumpe auszutauschen.

Application
The Laing DDC series pumps are primarily used for the circulation of cooling
liquid in liquid cooled computers.
Construction
- The Laing DDC pumps are spherical motor pumps, which provide very
quiet operation and long life.
- The motor is electronically commutated and the pumps consequently
have a high efciency.
- The electronic commutation creates a sine wave voltage, practically
eliminating commutation noises.
- The DDC pump is supplied with mounting feet and either 3/8“ hose barb
(models DDC-1, DDC-1 P and DDC1- T)or 1/4’“ male thread connections
(models DDC-1 R, DDC-1 RP and DDC1- RT)
- DDC-1: Pump with lead wire, no connector.
- DDC-1P: Pump with hard disk power connector.
- DDC-1T: Pump with hard disk power connector for power and an
additional fan connector for the tacho output. If this connector is plugged
into a fan receptacle on the motherboard, the rpm of the pump can be
monitored in the BIOS.

stalled in the cooling loop
before the air cooled heat
exchanger. In this way, the
waste heat of the pump
itself is added to the
cooling loop downstream
of the CPU
- An expansion tank needs
to be mounted on the
suction side of the pump. The expansion tank must be sized such that
there is always sufcient liquid in the system.

below the level of an open
expansion tank.
- Ideally the pump should be
placed at the lowest
point of the system.
- The pump is mounted on a
at surface. Avoid bending the
pump by over tightening of
the screws.
Installation position
The pump can be mounted either to a wall or on the bottom of the computer.
The pump must not be mounted with the motor pointing up and it must not
be installed pumping downwards.

Electrical connection
− The DDC pump runs on 12 Volt DC. If you install a pump without
connector, make sure to observe the correct polarity.
− DDC-1P and DDC-1T are equipped with a connector for the power
supply.
− The fan connector of the DDC-1T can be plugged into a fan receptacle
on the motherboard to enable monitoring of the pump rpm.
Start-up
− The cooling loop must be fully operational before starting the computer
because the CPU otherwise can overheat in a very short time and can
suffer damage.
− Before starting up the pump make sure that the loop is completely lled.
− Start the pump
− If you can hear an audible noise, air is left in the pump. Switching the
pump on and off several times can accelerate the purging of
this air.
Disconnect the power plug and reconnect it after approx. 2 seconds.
− While purging the air observe the liquid level in the expansion tank. If
the liquid in the expansion tank is exhausted, air will be sucked back
into the loop continuously.
− If the system does not run quiet after several minutes of purging stop
the pump and re-ll the system.
− Avoid running the pump dry for prolonged periods since this will damage
the bearing.
Maintenance
− The pump does not require any maintenance. There are no user
replaceable parts in the pump.
− It is important for trouble free operation of the pump that there is always
enough liquid in the pump, since dry run damages the bearing and leads
to reduced ow or interruption of the pumping operation.
− Air in the system will cause audible noise and therefore can be easily
detected.
− If there are foreign particles or deposits in the system, please follow the
instructions listed in the troubleshooting section.

Troubleshooting
− If the pump does not operate,
please check rst whether the
power supply is operating
correctly.
− If this does not resolve the
problem please unplug the
pump several times.
− If this still does not result in
the pump starting, it is
probably blocked by particles
or deposits in the system.
− Drain the system and remove
the pump.
− Open the pump by removing
the four housing screws at
the bottom.
− Remove the pump housing and
pull out the rotor.
− Clean the rotor and the stator
with a clean cloth and purge
all dirt from the pump housing.
− After reinserting the rotor into the stator perform a brief run test to make
sure that the rotor is spinning up. Caution: To avoid the introduction of
water into the electronics the pump should be completely dry before this
test is done.
− If the rotor is spinning in the above test, remove the o-ring from its seat
and clean it carefully.
− Re-insert the seal ring, place the pump housing on top of the motor and
screw it in place using the four screws.
− If the pump still won’t work or if the rotor does not run during the run test
the pump needs to be replaced.
