CAUTION: Read this manual carefully before installing, using or servic-
ing this product. Failure to follow the instructions within this manual could
result in explosion, property damage, severe personal injury and/or death.
DANGER: This product is not intended for damage control or to deal
with flooding resulting from hull damage.This product is intended to be
used in Bilge Pumping Systems for small craft with a hull length up to 79
feet (24 meters), as described within the introduction and scope of ISO
15083. Bilge Pumping Systems, as specified in ISO 15083,are limited to
normal amounts of water in an intact boat due to spray, rain,seepage, spill-
age, and occasional small amounts of water shifting from boat movements
in heavy weather.Use of product in any other way could result in flooding,
catastrophic damage to craft,serious personal injury, or death.
WARNING: This pump is designed for use with fresh water and salt
water ONLY. Use with any other hazardous,caustic, or corrosive material
could result in damage to the pump and the surrounding environment,
possible exposure to hazardous substances and injury.
NOTICE: Save this manual for future reference, and keep it
readily available at the location of the unit.
General safety rules
• Always keep work area clean
• Pay attention to the risks presented by gas and vapors in the work area
• Avoid all electrical dangers.
• Pay attention to the risks of electric shock or arc flash hazards
• Always bear in mind the risk of drowning, electrical accidents and burn injuries
Bilge pumps shall be mounted in accordance with the pump manufacturer instruc-
tions, and in an accessible location to permit servicing and cleaning of the intake and/
or screening.
On boats with an enclosed accommodation compartment, an audible alarm shall be
installed indicting that the bilge water is approaching the maximum bilge water level.
Bulkhead penetrations shall be in accordance with the requirements of ABYC H-2,
Ventilation of Boats Using Gasoline, to minimize the potential for migration of carbon
monoxide from machinery compartments containing gasoline engines to adjacent
accommodation compartments.
Potential electrical sources of ignition located in spaces containing gasoline powered
machinery, or gasoline fuel tank(s),or joint fitting(s), or other connection(s) between
components of a gasoline system, shall be ignition protected,unless the component
is isolated from a gasoline fuel source as described in ABYC E-11.5.3.3.

Exception:
1. Boats using diesel fuel as the only fuel source.
2. Outboard engines mounted externally or in compartments open to the atmo-
sphere in accordance with the requirements of ABYC H-2,Ventilation of Boats
Using Gasoline.
The bilge pump inlet shall be located so that excess bilge water can be removed from
the bilge at static floating position, and at maximum conditions created by the boat’s
motion, heel, and trim.
Electrical
Disconnect power before installing or servicing the pump.
Our pump is equipped with silicone blocked,tin coated 16 gauge (1.5 mm²) wire.
Please follow the table below when extending the wires.

All potential sources of ignition located in spaces containing gasoline powered
machinery or gasoline fuel tank(s), or joint fitting(s), or other connection(s), between
components of a gasoline system, shall be ignition protected in accordance with the
requirements of ISO 10133, ABYC E-11, AC and DC Electrical Systems On Boats.
The electrical wiring, connections,and installation shall be in accordance with the
requirements of ISO 10133, ABYC E-11, AC and DC Electrical Systems On Boats.
Rule-Mate Intelligence
Rule-Mate bilge pumps have built-in programming that can sense when the pump is
running but not pumping water to protect the pump,vessel, and the vessel’s batteries.
If debris fouls the sensor or the pump becomes air-bound, the pump will stop running
and begin to “check” for water every 2.5 minutes. Once the debris is removed,the
pump will revert to its normal operation,turning on when the water reaches approxi-
mately 2.5” (63.5 mm) and shutting off at 5/8” (16 mm).
Our Rule-Mate bilge pumps contain a fail-safe back-up program that measures the
amount of work the motor is performing and the length of time the motor is running.
If debris, such as a wet paper towel or leaves,became lodged against the pump, it
could “trick” the pump into thinking water remained in the bilge which could deplete
the vessel’s battery.
If the circuit board senses the motor is running but doing little work (not pumping
water) for longer than fifteen seconds,the pump will enter into a cycling mode in
the same fashion as the computerized pumps.The pump will sense water every
2.5 minutes and if it senses water, it will continue to run until the water has been
removed from the bilge.
After the debris is removed,the pump will automatically revert to the level sensing
mode.
CAUTION: Disconnect power from the system before working on the
unit to avoid personal injury, damage to the surrounding environment
and/or damage to the unit.
CAUTION: Keep all wire connections above the highest water level.
Wires must be joined with butt connectors and a marine grade sealant to
prevent wire corrosion.
CAUTION: Always install proper fuse size to prevent damage to product
should a short occur.Failure to install proper fuse could increase risk of pump
malfunction, potentially resulting in personal injury and/or fire hazard.

Plumbing
This bilge pump has been designed to be used with flexible hose.Rigid piping or
tubing may damage the pump or the pump’s discharge.
Factors that reduce the flow of a bilge pump may include but are not limited to the
following:
• The length of discharge piping (longer runs reduce flow)
• The number or radius of bends
• The roughness of the interior surfaces of piping and fittings (smooth bore hose
is best)
• The reduction (hose restriction) in cross-sectional area of discharge system
components such as check valves and thru-hulls
Attach the discharge hose to the hose barb using stainless steel hose clamps.
The thru-hull discharge fitting should be mounted at least 8” (20.3 cm) above the
heeled water line to prevent water siphoning in from outside the vessel or the
discharge may be located below the maximum heeled waterline if the discharge line
is provided with both of the following:
• A seacock installed in accordance with the requirements of ABYC H-27, Seacocks,
Thru-Hull Connections,and Drain Plugs, and
• A vented loop or other means to prevent siphoning into the boat.A check valve
shall not be used for this purpose
If the discharges of several pumps are manifolded to discharge through a single
thru-hull fitting,the system shall be designed so that the operation of one pump will
not back feed another pump,and the simultaneous operation of each pump will not
diminish the pumping capacity of the system. Acheck valve shall not be used in the
discharge manifold system.
A check valve may be used only when necessary to prevent an automatic bilge pump
from cycling on and off due to back flow from the discharge line.
Hose connections shall be secured with a non-corrosive type of clamp, or be
mechanically fastened with permanently-attached end fittings,such as swaged sleeve.
Threaded inserts shall be attached with corrosion resistant metallic clamps.

During the winterization of a vessel, it’s recommended that you remove the check
valve (if equipped) and drain any residual water from the plumbing.
Periodically remove, clean and inspect bilge pump,check valve and its surroundings
for damage or debris that may reduce the performance of the pump.
Installation
Push tabs on either side of the pump to remove pump from the base.
We recommend using #8 stainless steel flathead screws of an adequate length as
to secure the pump but not penetrate the entire thickness of the hull. Use a flexible
sealant in the screw holes to prevent water from penetrating the screw holes.
Insert the pump into the base and push down until an audible “click” is heard.

Toutes les sources potentielles d’incendie situées dans des espaces contenant des
machines à essence, un ou plusieurs réservoirs d’essence, un ou plusieurs raccords ou
d’autres branchements entre les composants d’un système à essence seront protégées
contre l’incendie conformément aux exigences de la norme ABYC E-11, Circuits élec-

Intelligence Rule-Mate
Grâce à leur programmation intégrée,les pompes de cale Rule-Mate peuvent détecter
quand la pompe fonctionne mais qu’elle ne pompe pas d’eau, pour protéger la
pompe, le bateau et les batteries du bateau. Si des débris bloquent le détecteur ou
désamorcent la pompe, cette dernière s’arrête et entame le cycle de «vérification de
l’eau »toutes les 2.5 minutes. Dès que les débris ont été enlevés,la pompe revient
au mode de fonctionnement normal en se mettant en marche quand l’eau atteint
environ 63.5 mm (2,5 po.) et en s’arrêtant à 16 mm (5/8 po.).
Nos pompes de cale Rule-Mate intègrent un programme de sauvegarde de sécurité
qui évalue la quantité de travail du moteur et la durée de fonctionnement du moteur.
Si des débris, comme une serviette en papier sèche ou des feuilles, viennent se loger
contre la pompe, celle-ci pourrait penser que de l’eau est restée dans la cale, ce qui
pourrait vider la batterie du bateau.
Si la carte à circuit imprimé détecte que le moteur fonctionne, mais à faible rende-
ment (aucune eau n’est pompée) pendant plus de quinze secondes, la pompe passera
en mode de vérification de la même manière que les pompes informatisées. La
pompe détectera l’eau toutes les 2.5 minutes et si elle détecte de l’eau, elle continuera
à fonctionner jusqu’au vidage total de la cale.
Après élimination des débris, la pompe reviendra automatiquement au mode de
détection du niveau d’eau.

ATTENTION : Pour éviter de se blesser ou d’endommager la zone
environnante et/ou la machine, débrancher l’alimentation électrique du
système avant de travailler sur la machine.
ATTENTION : Maintenir tous les fils de raccordement au-dessus du
niveau d’eau le plus élevé. Les fils doivent être reliés par des connecteurs
bout-à-bout et un produit d’étanchéité de classe marine doit être utilisé
pour éviter la corrosion des fils.
ATTENTION : Pour éviter d’endommager le produit en cas de
court-circuit, toujours poser un fusible de taille appropriée. Le non-respect
de cette consigne pourrait augmenter le risque de mauvais fonctionnement
de la pompe, ce qui pourrait être à l’origine de dommages corporels et/ou
d’incendie.

Cette pompe d’assèchement a été conçue pour être utilisée avec un tuyau flexible.
Toute tuyauterie rigide peut endommager la pompe ou le dispositif de refoulement
de la pompe.
Les facteurs pouvant réduire le débit d’une pompe d’assèchement peuvent être les
suivants, sans que ce soit toutefois les seuls facteurs :
• La longueur de la tuyauterie de refoulement (une tuyauterie longue réduira le
débit)
• Le nombre de rayons de courbure
• La rugosité de la surface intérieure de la tuyauterie et des raccords (les tuyaux à
paroi interne lisse sont préférables)
• La réduction (obstruction de tuyau) de la superficie de la section transversale des
composants du système de refoulement, par exemple les clapets anti-retour et les
composants passant à travers la coque.
Attacher le tuyau de refoulement au raccord cannelé à l’aide de colliers de durite en
acier inoxydable.
Le raccord de refoulement passant à travers la coque doit être monté au minimum à 8
po (20,3 cm) au-dessus de la ligne de flottaison en conditions de gîte pour éviter que
l’eau soit siphonnée depuis l’extérieur du bateau.Le raccord de refoulement peut être
également situé au-dessous de la ligne de flottaison en conditions de gîte extrêmes si
la conduite de refoulement est équipée de ce qui suit :
• Une vanne installée conformément aux exigences de la norme ABYC H-27,
Vannes,raccords passant à travers la coque et bouchons de vidange.
• Une boucle ventilée ou tout autre moyen pour empêcher le siphonnement dans
le bateau. Il n’est pas question d’utiliser un clapet anti-retour à cette fin.

Si les conduites de refoulement de plusieurs pompes sont raccordées à une
tuyauterie d’évacuation pour que l’eau refoulée passe à travers un passe-coque
unique, le système devra être conçu de telle sorte que le refoulement d’une seule
pompe ne retourne pas dans une autre pompe et que l’utilisation simultanée de
plusieurs pompes ne vienne pas diminuer la capacité de pompage du système. Il
n’est pas question d’utiliser un clapet anti-retour dans le système de raccordement de
tuyauterie d’évacuation.
On peut utiliser un clapet anti-retour uniquement s’il s’avère nécessaire d’empêcher
une pompe d’assèchement automatique de s’arrêter et de se réenclencher en raison
du refoulement d’eau de la conduite de refoulement.
Les raccords de tuyau souple seront attachés à l’aide de colliers non corrosifs, ou
mécaniquement attachés à l’aide d’un embout fixé de façon permanente,par exemple
un manchon embouti. Les garnitures intérieures seront attachées à l’aide de colliers
métalliques résistants à la corrosion.

Pour l’hivérisation d’un bateau, il est recommandé de déposer le clapet anti-retour (si
le système en est équipé) et de vidanger toute l’eau restant dans les canalisations.
Enlever,nettoyer et inspecter périodiquement la pompe d’assèchement, le clapet
antiretour et la zone environnante pour être certain qu’il n’y ait aucun dommage ou
débris pouvant réduire le rendement de la pompe.

Installation
Pousser les languettes des deux côtés de la pompe pour l’enlever de la base.
Nous recommandons l’utilisation de vis n° 8 en acier inoxydable d’une longueur
adéquate pour pouvoir attacher la pompe sans toutefois pénétrer dans l’épaisseur
entière de la coque. Utiliser un enduit d’étanchéité flexible dans les trous de vis pour
empêcher l’eau d’y pénétrer.
Insérer la pompe dans la base et pousser vers le bas jusqu’à ce qu’un «clic » se
fasse entendre.

Lenzpumpensystemen für kleine Wasserfahrzeuge mit max. 24 Meter
Rumpflänge (gemäß Einführung und Geltungsbereich ISO 15083)
spezifiziert. Für Lenzpumpen im Sinne von ISO 15083 gilt eine
Begrenzung auf normale Wassermengen in einem intakten
Wasserfahrzeug,entstanden aufgrund von Gischt, Regen, Lecks,
verschütteter Flüssigkeit und kleiner Wasseransammlungen im Rahmen
der Bootsbewegung bei rauer See. Die nicht bestimmungsgemäße
Nutzung des Produkts kann Überschwemmung,starke Beschädigungen

in Gewässern mit Süß- oder Salzwasser ausgelegt. Die Verwendung
zusammen mit Gefahrstoffen, ätzenden oder korrosiven Substanzen kann
zur Beschädigung der Pumpe wie auch anderer Gegenstände am Einsatzort
führen. Dabei kann es neben der Freisetzung gefährlicher Substanzen auch
zu Verletzungen kommen.
Bilgenpumpen sind in Übereinstimmung mit den Anleitungen des Pumpenher-
stellers an einem zugänglichen Ort zu befestigen, so dass dieWartung und die
Reinigung des Einlasses und/oder Siebes möglich ist.
Auf Booten mit einem abgeschlossenen Unterkunftsabteil ist ein akustischer Alarm zu
installieren, der anzeigt,dass sich das Bilgenwasser seinem Maximalstand nähert.
Durchdringungen der Schottwände müssen denAnforderungen in ABYC H-2 „Venti-
lation of Boats Using Gasoline“ (Belüftung von Booten mit Benzinmotoren) entspre-
chen, um das Risiko des Eindringens von Kohlenmonoxid aus Maschinenräumen mit
Benzinmotoren in benachbarte Unterkunftsräume zu minimieren.
Potenzielle elektrische Zündquellen, die sich in Räumen mit benzinbetriebenen
Maschinen befinden, oder Benzintanks,Verbindungsstücke bzw.andere Verbind-
ungen zwischen Komponenten einer Benzinanlage müssen mit Zündschutz versehen
sein, außer die Komponente ist entsprechend der Beschreibung in ABYC E-11.5.3.3
von der Benzinquelle getrennt.
Ausnahme:
1. Boote, die Dieselkraftstoff als einzige Kraftstoffquelle verwenden.
2. Außenbordmotoren, die außen oder in zur Atmosphäre hin offenen Räumen
gemäß den Anforderungen inABYC H-2 „Ventilation of Boats Using Gasoline“
(Belüftung von Booten mit Benzinmotoren) montiert sind.
Der Bilgenpumpeneinlass muss so angeordnet werden,dass überschüssiges
Bilgenwasser aus dem Kielraum bei statischer Schwimmposition und bei extremen
Bedingungen, die durch die Bewegung,Krängung und Trimmung des Bootes
verursacht werden, entfernt werden kann.
Elektrik
Vor der Installation oder Wartung der Pumpe ist die Spannungsversorgung zu
trennen.
Die Pumpe ist mit einer verzinnten Leitung mit Silikonisolierung und einem
Querschnitt von 1,5 mm² ausgestattet.Für die Verlängerung der Leitungen ist die
nachstehende Tabelle zu beachten.

Rule-Mate Intelligence
In Bilgepumpen der Serie Rule-Mate ist ein Algorithmus integriert.Dieser kann
mithilfe von Sensoren prüfen, ob die Pumpe läuft, ohneWasser zu pumpen. Dies
schützt die Pumpe,das Wasserfahrzeug als Ganzes und dessen Batterien.Wenn

VORSICHT: Vor Arbeiten am Gerät ist die Stromversorgung zum Gerät
zu trennen, umVerletzungen, Schäden am Gerät bzw. Umweltschäden zu
vermeiden.
VORSICHT: Um Schäden am Gerät im Fall eines Kurzschlusses zu ver-
meiden, muss stets eine Sicherung mit der richtigen Bemessung eingebaut
werden.Wird keine richtig bemessene Sicherung eingebaut, erhöht dies das
Risiko einer Pumpenfehlfunktion,was möglichweise zu Personenschäden
und/oder Brandgefahr führt.
Schmutz den Sensor verunreinigt oder die Pumpe nur noch Luft vorfindet, hört sie auf
zu laufen und prüft ab dann alle 2.5 Minuten,ob Wasser vorhanden ist. Sobald die
Verunreinigung beseitigt ist,wechselt die Pumpe in den Normalbetrieb zurück. Sie
schaltet sich also ein, wenn einWasserstand von ca. 2.5” (63,5 mm) erreicht wird,und
wieder aus, wenn der Füllstand auf 5/8” (16 mm) absinkt.
In unsere Bilgepumpen der Serie Rule-Mate ist ein Algorithmus zurAusfallabsi-
cherung integriert. Dieser ermittelt, wie viel Arbeit der Motor leistet und wie lange
er läuft.Wenn Verschmutzungen wie z.B. ein nasses Papierhandtuch oder Laub sich
an der Pumpe anlagern,könnte die Pumpe fälschlicherweise feststellen,dass noch
Wasser in der Bilge vorhanden ist.Dies könnte die Batterie des Wasserfahrzeugs
erschöpfen.
Wenn die Platine feststellt,dass der Motor läuft, jedoch für mehr als 15 Sekunden nur
wenig Leistung bringt (d.h. kein Wasser pumpt),wechselt die Pumpe in einen Zyklus-
betrieb.Dieser entspricht einem computergesteuerten Pumpenbetrieb. Die Pumpe
überprüft das Vorhandensein von Wasser alle zweieinhalb Minuten per Sensor. Wenn
festgestellt wird, dass Wasser vorhanden ist, läuft sie so lange weiter,bis das Wasser
aus der Bilge abgepumpt ist.
Sobald die Verunreinigung beseitigt ist, wechselt die Pumpe automatisch in den
Modus zum Abtasten des Füllstands zurück.
VORSICHT: Alle Leitungsanschlüsse sind über dem höchsten
Wasserstand zu halten.Leitungen müssen mit Stoßverbindern und einem
marinetauglichen Dichtmittel verbunden werden,um Leitungskorrosion
zu vermeiden.
