Before using the scale, carefully read, understand and follow the “Safety Instructions” described in this manual. Observe the advice given
in the “Operations” section to ensure proper operation. Keep this operation manual handy for reference.
1) This scale is not an explosion-proof model. Do not use the scale in an atmosphere containing flammable gases or explosive fumes. A
fire or an explosion can result.
2) Do not operate the scale if there is smoke or a burned smell coming from the scale. Unplug the scale immediately. After making sure that
there is no danger, consult your dealer. Never try to repair the scale by yourself.
3) Never step on or sit on the scale. Not only will the scale be damaged, but you may also be injured.
4) Place the item to be weighed in the center of the platform. Items placed on the edge of the platform may fall off and cause injury.
5) When weighing a heavy, large or unbalanced item, make sure the item is stable on the platform, otherwise, an accident may occur.
6) When carrying or moving the scale, be sure to hold it by the bottom of the base with both hands. If you hold it by the platform, the plat-
form or the platform support may become detached causing the scale to fall. This will damage the scale. The platform is designed for
easy removal and cleanup.
7) Do not insert your finger into the gaps or holes in the scale. You may be injured.

I Introduction
The PB-200 displays units of pounds and ounces, continuous pounds, continuous ounces, and grams.
Any of these units can be disabled in the System Parameter mode (see section II.A.) The specific-
ations for each unit are in the following table.
The PB-200 contains a 6-AA rechargable battery pack good for up to eight hours of continuous use. It
takes about fourteen hours to recharge the battery pack with the AC adaptor. The scale may be
operated while the batteries are recharging. Use only the AC adaptor supplied or an adaptor of the
same output characteristics.
While operating the PB-200 on batteries, an automatic-off feature is enabled. It will turn off the scale af-
ter two, three, four or five minutes of non-use, unless the feature is disabled. The time delay for the
automatic-off, including full disable, is set in the System Parameter mode (see section II.A.) Use of
an AC adaptor disables the automatic-off feature.

1. With the scale on, press and hold the key until the display
shows “Set”.
2. Release the key. The display will now show “Unit”.
3. To disable operation of the scale in any of the four units press the
key.
4. Pressing the key will advance the display through gram
mode, pound-ounce mode, pound mode, ounce mode and back
to “Unit”. Advance to the desired unit.
5. Press the key to set the selected unit.

System parameter mode is used to select which units (g, lb-oz, lb or oz) can be chosen by the scale
operator, and to disable or select the length of the automatic-off feature. While in system parameter
mode, the key is used as a “Enter” key and the key is used as a “Select” key.

6. Toggle between on and off to enable or disable the selected unit
mode by pressing the key.
7. When the desired state is displayed, press the key to return
to the unit mode selection display.
8. Continue to advance through the unit modes by pressing the
key until all desired changes have been made.
9. Press the key until the display reads “Unit”.
10. Press the key once to proceed to automatic-off setting (see
section II.A.2 for details.)
11. To return to normal operating mode and save any changes, press
the key twice. The display will read “End”. Press the
key.
12. To exit the system parameter mode without saving any changes,
press the key.

1. With the scale on, press and hold the key until the display
shows “Set”.
2. Release the key. The display will now show “Unit”.
3. Press the key once. The display will read “A,OFF”.
4. Press the key once to enter Automatic-off adjustment mode.
5. Pressing the key will advance the display through 120, 180,
240, 300 and OFF.
6. Select the desired setting by pressing the key.
7. To return to normal operating mode and save any changes, press
the key. The display will read “End”. Press the key.
8. To exit the system parameter mode without saving any changes,
press the key.

1. With the scale off, hold down the key while pressing the
key three times. Release the key. The scale should be
displaying the internal counts.
2. Press the key to zero the counts.
3. Select either pounds or grams by pressing the key.
4. Place either 10 pounds or 5 kilograms on the scale platform. The
counts should read 5000 to 9000 for pounds or 5000 to 10,000 for
grams.
5. Press the key. The display will read “Cal” for about four sec-
onds.
6. The scale should return to normal operating mode and display the
calibration weight.
7. Remove the weight from the scale platform. The display should
indicate zero pounds or grams.

III Troubleshooting
Problem
The scale will not power on.
The display continues to display
four eights after the scale is
turned on.
“Err” appears upon power up.
“ErrL” appears upon power up.
The displayed weight fluctuates
excessively.
Possible Cause
Batteries dead or incorrectly
installed.
AC adapter loose or malfunc-
tioning.
CPU board malfunction.
Vibration or an unstable po-
sition or platform.
Platform weight too high.
Platform weight too low.
Material between the platform
and the scale body.
Weighing assembly in contact
with wires or case.
Load cell connector loose or
damaged.

Solution
Test batteries. Reinstall if
needed.
Reseat adapter. Replace if
needed.
Replace CPU board.
Remove source of vibra-
tion or place scale on stable
platform.
Clear platform and restart.
Remove platform, clear
away any debris and rein-
stall platform.
Remove material.
Reposition wires, case or
platform.
Reconnect or replace the
load cell connector.
Replace power board.
Replace CPU board.
