Tellus 5 and Tellus 5 Intelligaze Quick Start Guide
Place the Tellus 5 on a flat surface using the built in stand or mount to a wheelchair. If you are using
the Tellus 5 Intelligaze please attach the device to the mount.
To Turn ON:
Turn ON the Tellus 5 using the button located on the right side of the
device.
Once Windows has loaded you will see on the desktop will be the icons
for Mind Express 5 and The Grid
Open your preferred communication software. If you are setting up for a
new user, you can connect an external keyboard and mouse if desired for
editing. Follow The Grid or Mind Express manuals for further use and
programming instructions.
To Charge:
Use the charger socket on the back of the device (See the Tellus 5 guide for further information).
To Turn OFF:
Shut down the computer from the Windows START button as you would a laptop or computer and
shut down or sleep as required. If you are using communication software you can also program a cell
to shut down the device.

Using an external Switch to Turn On:
It is possible to set up the Tellus 5 so that an external switch can be used to turn the device on.
Please see additional guides on how to configure these settings.
3G Sim Card:
The Tellus 5 has an internal SIM card slot that enables you to send SMS using either The Grid 2 or
Mind Express 5. The SIM card modem can also be set up for 3G data for internet access on the
move. Further instruction on setting up the SIM card can be found on additional instruction sheets.
Switches:
You can plug up to 2 switches into the
Tellus 5 switch jacks that are on the back of
the device. These can be set up to provide
various types of scanning input to both
Mind Express and The Grid 2. For further
information please refer to the Grid 2 or
Mind Express manual.
If you are using The Grid 2 there is also the option to set the user programmable buttons on the back
of the Tellus 5 as switches.
