I itial co figuratio I formatio :
You have a Ope reach modem:
Typically FTTP or older FTTC circuits
The ZyXEL will be posted to you i a 'default' state. It will have a WiFi ame of 'Co ect router to li e'. I most cases,
o ce your service is live a d the ZyXEL has logged i for the first time, it will be co figured i the correct way for your
service – the plastic card o the router will also describe your specific co figuratio a d how it eeds to be co ected.
The co figuratio of the router ca be modified via the Co trol Pages but feel free to talk to staff for further help or
i formatio . U til your service is live, a d the router has co figured itself, the crede tials a d IP details o the card will ot
match. It will have a IP address of 192.168.1.1 a d a admi user with a password of 1234.
As supplied, port 4 is a WAN port a d ot a LAN port. Avoid usi g this port u til the co figuratio has completed.
The details above describe the most commo co figuratio for this router – where you are simply co ecti g the ZyXEL
router to your pho e li e a d usi g its built i wifi a d etwork ports for your I ter et access.
There are situatio s where the ZyXEL is co figured i a differe t way. For example, plugged i to a Ope reach supplied
modem (such as the case of all FTTP li es a d FTTC li es that were i stalled before Ju e 2015). Alter atively, you may
have your ow PPPoE router (eg a FireBrick) a d you wa t to use the ZyXEL as a simple 'modem bridge' betwee your
pho e li e a d your ow router. See below for further i formatio regardi g these two cases:

Whe usi g the DSL socket, the DSL light should be gree If this light is bli ki g or off the the
router is ot i sy c with the excha ge or cabi et equipme t. Here are some checks:
●If your telepho e socket has two sockets a d o e is more square tha recta gle, plug the
router i to the square socket ( o eed for the splitter i this case, as your socket has a built
i splitter)
●If you have multiple pho e sockets for the pho e li e i the buildi g, try usi g your master
socket – the o e earest to where the pho e li e e ters the buildi g
●Test that the pho e li e is worki g by pluggi g i a telepho e
Configuration
Do 't forget that the router will receive its co figuratio o ce it has come o li e for the first time.
This will cause the router to restart. The router should have received its co figuratio a d have
restarted withi about six mi utes of bei g o li e.
Factory Reset
If required, holdi g i the reset butto for about five seco ds, u til all the LEDs light up will
revert the co figuratio to our default setti gs. I this state the router will try to get o li e a d
obtai its ow co figuratio for your li e. The co figuratio setti gs ca be set o our Co trol
Pages. For example, from the Co trol Pages, ca you set the router to be a bridge. There are
other setti gs there too, eg WiFi, passwords a d so o .

WiFi:
U til the automatic co figuratio has completed the WiFi ame (SSID) is ‘co ect router to
li e’, as this is required for it to be co figured! However, o ce the automatic co figuratio has
completed, the WiFi ame a d password will be as pri ted o the plastic card that is i cluded
with the router. This may be cha ged via the Co trol Pages if required.
