INSTALLATION
Before you install the EMS-830T, inspect the shipping carton for the components listed below. Notify the carrier
immediately if damages are found. Your shipment should consist of:
•One EMS-830T shelf
•One Installation Kit (part number 130-1049-01A)

MOUNTING
Beforeyoucan use an EMS-830T shelf, you should mount it intoa 19-inch or 600 mm rack. The EMS-830T shelf
ships with the mounting brackets in place for mounting in a 19-inch rack. If you need to mount the EMS-830T in
a 600 mm rack, you must remove the mounting brackets and reverse their position on the EMS-830T chassis. The
screws required to mount the EMS-830T on a rack are contained in the Installation Kit included in the shipping
carton.
In rack-mounted installations, leave an unobstructed gap of a minimum of 44.5mm (1.75
inch, 1U rack height) on top and bottom of shelves to maintain the required air flow for
cooling.
Be careful when installing or modifying telephone lines. Dangerous voltages can be
present.
It is unsafe to install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Always disconnect all telephone lines and power connections before servicing or
disassembling this equipment.
For performance and safety reasons, only power supplies listed for use with telephone
equipment by a locallyrecognized organization should be used withWorldDSL equipment.
All wiring external to the product should follow the local wiring codes. This unit operates
with hazardous voltages. Caution should be exercised during installation and removal of
the cards. Prevent hands and other objects from going inside the slots since dangerous
voltages can be present internally. Any empty slots should be covered with blank slot
faceplates.
If a problem has been isolated to this unit, do not attempt to repair it. The unit's components
are not user serviceable and, therefore, must not be replaced. Please return the unit to ADC
for repairs.
