Brooks Battery Powered Smoke Alarm with SID
SID is fitted inside the ‘Brooks Extended Base’ that connects to one of two Lithium Battery Powered
Brooks Smoke Alarms ( E1B650i series). These Brooks smoke alarms feature a high performance
photoelectric chamber, 10 year lithium battery, large test /hush button, and optional wireless
interconnections to sound other smoke alarms within the premises.
When the smoke alarm detects smoke, SID will activate the base unit, which pre-alarms and sends
a fire alert to monitoring.

EIB650iCRF Photoelectric 10-year Lithium Battery Smoke Alarm with RadioLINK™ and AudioLINK™
Radio
Frequency
869Mhz in New Zealand, 916MHz in Australia. Transceiver provides two-way communication
between pendant and base unit, so the signal is confirmed.
Range 300m+ typical in open air.
Battery
SID has a non-rechargeable, service replaceable battery. SID battery life calculations
use (1 activation every 30 days) indicates a battery life of 9-10 years.
SID reports when its battery is at 20% capacity and will need to be replaced. It does not monitor
the smoke alarm battery it is connected to; hence regular testing of the connected device is
suggested to ensure its functionality.
Testing SID communicates with the base unit every seven hours, and a failed to test report will be sent
to the monitoring centre if the base unit has not received multiple signals over a few days
(typically set between 3-5 days).
Certification AS 3786:2014 + A1:2015

It is important to test the smoke alarm regularly by pressing and holding the ‘TEST’ button until the alarm sounds.
Cleaning your Alarm
Clean your Alarm regularly. Use the flat open end of your vacuum cleaner to remove dust and cobwebs from the side slots
where the smoke enters. To clean the cover, wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
WARNING: Do not paint your Alarm.
Other than the maintenance and cleaning described in this leaflet, no other customer servicing of this product is required.
Repairs, when needed, must be performed by the manufacturer.
Smoke Alarm Automatic Self-Test
The smoke chamber in the Smoke Alarms automatically tests itself every 16 seconds.
Fire Safety Hints
Store petrol and other flammable materials in proper containers. Discard oily or flammable rags. Always use a metal fireplace
screen and have chimneys cleaned regularly. Replace worn or damaged sockets, switches, home wiring and cracked or frayed
electrical cords and plugs. Do not overload electrical circuits. Keep matches away from children. Never smoke in bed. In rooms
where you do smoke, always check under cushions for smouldering cigarettes and ashes. Service central heating systems
regularly. Be sure all electrical appliances and tools have a recognised approval label.
The smoke alarm should be cleaned regularly, particularly in dusty areas to help keep the unit working efficiently.
To do so, use the narrow nozzle attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust, insects and cobwebs from the
the side and cover slots where smoke enters.
