FCC RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE STATEMENT
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B computing device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial
environment This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is
likely to cause harmful interference in which the user will be required to
correct the interference at his own expense.
Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the
manufacturer could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
The use of non-shielded I/O cables may not guarantee compliance with
FCC RFI limits. This digital apparatus does not exceed the Class B limits
for radio noise emission from digital apparatus set out in the Radio
Interference Regulation of the Canadian Department of Communications.
Le présent appareil numérique n’émet pas de bruits radioélectriques
dépassant les limites applicables aux appareils numériques de classe B
prescrites dans le Règlement sur le brouillage radioélectrique publié par
le ministère des Communications du Canada.

ABOUT THE EIS2-EXTEND-A
The EIS2-EXTEND-A is a Long Reach Ethernet Extender to utilize existing copper cabling
infrastructure (twisted pair), extending Ethernet to up to 1200 meters over VDSL2. Applications
such as IP-based Internet connections, video-on-demand and voice services can benefit from the
EIS2-EXTEND-A VDSL2 extenders. It offers one 10/100Mbps Ethernet port and one VDSL2 port,
and is a PNP, unmanaged device.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
EIS2-EXTEND-A Extenders
The EIS2-EXTEND-A VDSL2 extenders must be set up in pairs for end
to end connectivity. The VDSL2 extender offers DIP Switches (DSW),to
set one as a Master for the CO (Central Office) and one as an RT
(Remote) for the CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). The DSW #1
labeled SNR 9db/SNR 6db must be set as follows:
CO:SNR 6db set to enabled CPE: SNR 9db set to enabled
Figure 1: DSW for enabled/disabled

EIS2-EXTEND-A
3
Once the two devices are set to CO/CPE, the next step is to connect
each of them with CAT 5 Ethernet cabling on the RJ-45 port labeled
LAN. Power the devices with the power supply (included). Next, connect
the two EIS2-EXTEND-A devices with the CAT 3 cabling to each port
labeled VDSL2.
Once the LEDs are established, you can set the other DSW depending
on your application requirements for best functionality.
POWER
The EIS2-EXTEND-A includes an AC to DC power adapter and a
removable terminal block.
DIP SWITCH SETTINGS
The DIP Switches can be set according to whether you need to cover speed
vs. reach, symmetric transmission or asymmetric transmission for data, and
SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) for line (channel) noise. Each EXTENDER must
be set as a CO (Central Office) or RT (Remote).
DSW#1 allows you to set up one extender as a Master (CO) and one as a
Remote (RT) unit.

4
DSW #2 can be set for High Speed Mode or in a Long Reach Mode. This is
based on Profiles 30a and 17a, respectively.
DSW #3 allows you to set upstream/downstream as symmetrical or
asymmetrical.
DSW #4 allows you to select which decibel value that provide the best
protection against line (channel) noise.

ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE PRECAUTIONS
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can cause damage to any product, add-in
modules or stand-alone units, containing electronic components. Always
observe the following precautions when installing or handling these kinds
of products:
Do not remove unit from its protective packaging until ready to install.
Wear an ESD wrist grounding strap before handling any module or
component. If the wrist strap is not available, maintain grounded contact
with the system unit throughout any procedure requiring ESD protection.
Hold the units by the edges; do not touch the electronic components or
gold connectors.
After removal, always place the boards on a grounded, static-free
surface, ESD pad or in a proper ESD bag. Do not slide the modules or
stand-alone units over any surface.
WARNING! Integrated circuits and fiber optic components
are extremely susceptible to electrostatic discharge
damage. Do not handle these components directly unless
you are a qualified service technician and use tools and
techniques that conform to accepted industry practices.
