Advantech warrants to you, the original purchaser, that each of its products will be
free from defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of pur-
chase.
This warranty does not apply to any products which have been repaired or altered by
persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech, or which have been
subject to misuse, abuse, accident or improper installation. Advantech assumes no
liability under the terms of this warranty as a consequence of such events.
Because of Advantech’s high quality-control standards and rigorous testing, most of
our customers never need to use our repair service. If an Advantech product is defec-
tive, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge during the warranty period. For out-
of-warranty repairs, you will be billed according to the cost of replacement materials,
service time and freight. Please consult your dealer for more details.
If you think you have a defective product, follow these steps:
1. Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For example, CPU
speed, Advantech products used, other hardware and software used, etc.) Note
anything abnormal and list any onscreen messages you get when the problem
occurs.
2. Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your manual, product,
and any helpful information readily available.
3. If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain an RMA (return merchandize
authorization) number from your dealer. This allows us to process your return
more quickly.
4. Carefully pack the defective product, a fully-completed Repair and Replacement
Order Card and a photocopy proof of purchase date (such as your sales receipt)
in a shippable container. A product returned without proof of the purchase date
is not eligible for warranty service.
5. Write the RMA number visibly on the outside of the package and ship it prepaid
to your dealer.

Safety Instructions
For your safety, be sure to read and follow all notices and instructions.
1. Do NOT expose this equipment to rain or moisture.
2. Do NOT place anything on top of the unit that might spill or fall into it.
3. Do NOT open the equipment. Opening or removing covers can expose you to
dangerous high voltage or other hazards. ONLY qualified service personnel
should service or disassemble this equipment. Please contact your vendor for
service.
4. Do NOT overload wall outlets or power extension cord.
5. Do NOT cover the openings on the enclosure to avoid overheating.
6. Do make sure the voltage of the power source is correct before connecting the
equipment to the power outlet.
7. Do disconnect equipment from power source to protect it from damaged by tran-

1.1 Introduction
NVS-3510 / NVS-3520 is an industrial-grade, 1 / 2-ch DIN-rail video server with
H.264 / MPEG4 / MJPEG compression technology. NVS-3510 / NVS-3520 supports
up to D1 resolutions and real-time frame rates (30 fps @ NTSC / 25 fps @ PAL) for
live viewing and recording. The serial ports of RS-485 and digital I/O provide the
functions of Camera PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) control and proactive alarm function. To
enhance the security level, NVS-3510 / NVS-3520 supports SD/SDHC Card up to 32
GB as a local backup storage when the network connection is broken. NVS-3510 /
NVS-3520 also supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) functionality and can be used
with PoE Ethernet switches. Information On-Screen provides the ability to show I/O
data on the video frame. This allows users to view real-time status of the monitored
object. With Advantech’s eView NVR network video surveillance software and soft-
ware development kit (SDK), NVS-3510 / NVS-3520 is an ideal solution for industrial
customers to build up a video networking for automation applications or industrial IP-
based video surveillance systems.
In the following sections, IP Video Server NVS-3510 & NVS-3520 are abbreviated to
3510/3520.

2.1 System Requirement
The following are the basic requirement for 3510/3520.
Network: 10/100 Mbps RJ45 LAN port
Browser: Internet Explorer. Version 7.0 or later is recommended.
2.2 Hardware Installation
2.2.1 Fixing Chassis
The design of chassis offers flexible options to construct the system.
Fix to a panel mount
Fix to a DIN-RAIL
Panel/Wall Mounting
The 3510/3520 can be attached to a wall
by the accessory L-shaped metal brack-
ets. Screw the brackets to the chassis
first, and then fix it on the wall.
DIN-RAIL Mounting
Using the accessory DIN-RAIL kit, 3510/3520 can be mounted on a DIN-RAIL. Screw
the kit to the chassis, hang the 3510/3520 to the DIN-RAIL in bevel angle. Then
wedge the kit to DIN-RAIL.

2.2.2 Settle System
After mounted the chassis, it is time to settle the whole system.
Connect to network
Connect Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 jack.
Insert SD card
Insert SD card into the slot. The maximum acceptable storage is 32 GB SDHC.
Connect Audio
Plug in speaker and microphone to Audio Line-In and Line-Out jack.
Connect Video
Plug in BNC jack of video camera to Video Input connector.
Connect Power
Connect 12 to 24 V DC to power terminal block.
The left pin V- connects to ground.
The right pin V+ connects to 12 V / 24 V.
Plug the terminal into chassis.
Connect RS-485 Lines
Two sets of RS-485
D1+, D1- are the first set. Control PTZ camera.
D2+, D2- are the second. Control Modbus device.
Plug the terminal into chassis.
