The purpose of safety rules is to attract your attention to possible
dangers. The safety symbols and the explanations with them,
require your careful attention and understanding. The safety
warnings do not by themselves eliminate any danger. The
instruction or warnings they give are not substitutes for proper
accident prevention measures.
SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL. Indicates caution or
warning. May be used in conjunction with other
symbols or pictures.
WARNING: Failure to obey a safety warning can
result in serious injury to yourself or to others.
Always follow the safety precautions to reduce the
risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury.
WARNING: Do not attempt to operate this tool
until you have read thoroughly and understood
completely, safety rules, etc. contained in this
manual. Failure to comply can result in accidents
involving fire, electric shock or serious personal
injury. Save owners manual and review frequently
for continuing safe operation and instructing
others who may use this tool.
1. Know your power tool. Read owners manual carefully.
Learn its applications and limitations as well as the speci-
fic potential hazards related to this tool.
2. Guard against electrical shock by preventing body
contact with grounded surfaces. For example, pipes,
radiators, ranges, refrigerator enclosures.
3. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and benches invi-
te accidents.
4. Avoid dangerous environment. Don’t use power tools in
damp or wet locations or expose to rain. Keep work area
well lit.
5. Keep children and visitors away. Visitors should wear
safety glasses and be kept a safe distance from work area.

RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION
The operation of any tool can result
in foreign objects being thrown into
your eyes, which can result in seve-
re eye damage. Before beginning
power tool operation, always wear
safety goggles or safety glasses
with side shields and a full face shield when needed. We
recommend Wide Vision Safety Mask for use over eye-
glasses or standard safety glasses with side shields.

1. Keep guards in place and in working order. Never
wedge or tie lower blade guard open. Check operation of
lower blade guard before each use. Do not operate if lower
blade guard does not close briskly over saw blade.
WARNING: If saw is dropped, lower blade guard may
be bent, restricting full return. If lower blade guard
becomes bent or damaged, replace it before use.
2. Don’t abuse cord. Never carry the tool by the cord or pull
it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord away from
heat, oil and sharp edges.
3. Secure work. Use clamp or vice to hold work piece. Use
both hands when operating the tool.
4. Avoid accidental starting. Don’t carry plugged-in tool
with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off when plugging
in.
5. Outdoor use extension cords. When tool is used out-
doors, use only extension cords intended for use outdoors
and so marked.
6. Keep blades clean and sharp. Sharp blades minimise
stalling and kickback.
7. Keep hands away from cutting area. Keep hands away
from blades. Do not reach underneath work while blade is
rotating. Do not attempt to remove cut material when blade
is moving. WARNING: Blades coast after turning off.
8. Inspect tools cords periodically. If damaged, have re-
paired by authorised service centre. Stay constantly aware
of cord location and keep it well away from rotating blade.
9. Use rip fence. Always use a fence or straight edge guide
when ripping.
10. Before making a cut. Be sure the depth and bevel adjust-
ments are tight.
11. Use correct blades. Do not use blades with incorrect size
bores. Never use blade washers or bolts that are defective
or incorrect. The blade capacity of your saw is 190mm.
12. Avoid cutting nails. Inspect and remove all nails from
timber before cutting.
13. Never. Touch the blade or moving parts during use.
14. Never. Start the saw when the blade is in contact with the
work piece.
■Do not use saw blades that are deformed or cracked.
■Do not use saw blades made of high speed steel.
■Do not use saw blades that do not comply with the charac-
teristics specified in this instruction manual.
■Do not stop the saw blade by lateral pressure on the disc.
■Do not lock the movable guard in the open position.
■Ensure that the movable guard operates freely without
jamming.
■Ensure that any retraction mechanism of the guard system
operates correctly.
■Remove plug from the main supply before replacement of
the saw blade, making adjustments or other maintenance
work.

ADJUSTING THE RIVING KNIFE
(FIG. 5)
WARNING!
1. Do not use saw blades the disc of which is thicker or the
set of which is smaller than the thickness of the riving knife.
2. Ensure that the riving knife is adjusted so that: (Fig. 5)
A: The distance between the riving knife and the toothed
rim of the saw blade is not more than 5 mm.
B: The toothed rim does not extend more than 5mm
beyond the lower edge of the riving knife.
3. The riving knife should always be used except when
plunging in the middle of the work piece.
ADJUSTING THE CUTTING
DEPTH (FIG. 6 A, 6 B, 7, 8)
1. To adjust the cutting depth, loosen the depth adjustment
knob. (Fig. 6A)
2. Slide the base plate to the desired depth and retighten the
knob securely. (Fig. 6B)
3. The cutting depth can be determined by the depth scale
and the projection or measuring the distance between the
blade protrusion and the base plate. (Figs. 7 & 8)
ADJUSTING THE CUTTING
BEVEL (FIG. 9 A & 9 B)
1. The true cutting angle may be adjusted to any desired
angle between 0° and 50°. (Fig. 9A)
2. Loosen the knob bolt which are positioned at the front of
the tool and move the base plate to the desired angle
according to the bevel scale. (Fig. 9B)
3. After adjusting the desired angle, be sure to retighten the

SWITCH (FIG. 10)
The tool is started and stopped by squeezing and releasing the
trigger switch. To prevent the tool from being started acciden-
tally, the trigger can only be operated if the safety button is
depressed first. The safety button can be depressed with the
thumb leaving the fingers free to squeeze the trigger switch. It
is not necessary to maintain pressure on the safety button once
the trigger switch has been moved from its starting position.
OPERATION (FIG. 11)
DANGER: Keep hands away from the cutting area.
When operataing the tool keep the cord away from
the cutting area and position it so that it will not be
caught on the work piece during the cutting operation.
It is important to saw with steady and even pressure (DO NOT
FORCE) in order to obtain a uniform cut. Cut at a speed suited
to the work piece. (Work slowly when timber is hard.)
Inspect the saw blade frequently and replace or sharpen if dull,
to avoid overloading the motor.
CUTTING POSITION (FIG. 12 A, 12 B)
Cutting the work piece at 0°, use point “A” of the base plate
line guide and move the saw along the line to be cut. Cutting
at 45°, use point “B”.
This line guide shows an approximate line of cut.
Make a sample cut in scrap timber to verify the actual line of
cut.
CAUTION: The saw guide fence should only touch
the work piece slightly and should not be forced.

9
MAINTENANCE
GENERAL
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics
are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial
solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths
to remove dirt, carbon dust, etc.
EXTENSION CORDS
The use of any extension cord will cause some loss of power.
To keep the loss to a minimum and to prevent tool from over-
heating, follow the recommended cord sizes on the table.
Every 240 volt flexible extension cord shall be of heavy duty
sheathed type to comply with AS3199, Approval and Test
Specification, Cord Extension Stes.
