Section 1
Connecting theAccess Point
Step 1 Connect oneendofa networkcable tothe Ethernet portof the access point and connect the
otherend ofthe cableto the LAN port of a router orswitch.
Step 2 Power on the accesspoint byconnecting one end of thesupplied power adapter to thepower
jackof the accesspoint and connectingthe other endto an electricaloutlet.
Step 3Make sure the Power and LAN lights on theAccess point are lit, and the WLAN light is blinking.
Ifnot,verify the cablesarefunctionaland trytheabovesteps again.
This Quick Installation Guide only provides the basic instructions. For more
detailed information, please refer to the user’s manual on the supplied CD.

Section 2
Establishing Wireless Connection
Restartyourcomputer after establishingasignalstrength/link qualitywiththeaccess point.
SSID:default
OperatingMode: Infrastructure
Authentication:Open System
Encryption:disabled
Belowarethe defaultwirelesssettings of theaccess point.Youmustconfigure yourwirelessnetwork
adapterto thesame settingsin orderto establish a wireless connectionwith theaccess point.Please
refertoyour wirelessnetworkadapter’smanualforinstructionson configuring thesesettings.
Configuring theAccess Point (Optional)
Section 3
Bydefault, theAccess Pointis set tofunction inAPMode, which connects thewireless clientstothe
wiredpartof your network.
Besidesthe APMode,therearefour othermodes youcan set theAccessPoint to functionin:
1.PtP Bridge: Thismode allows you to connectoneAccess Pointto anotherAccessPoint of the same
model,bridging twowirelessLANs together.
2.PtMP Bridge:Thismodeallows youto connect theAccessPoint with multipleAccessPoints ofthe
samemodel, bridgingseveral wireless LANstogether.
3.AP Repeater:Thismode allowsyou torepeat thewireless signalof anotherAccessPointor Wireless
Router, extendingtherange oftherootAccess Point orWirelessRouter.
4.APClient:This modetransforms theAccess Pointinto a wirelessadapter.AnyIEEE 802.3Ethernet
device(e.g., a computer,game console, etc.)will beableto communicatewirelesslywith theexisting
wirednetwork viatheAccess Pointset tothis mode.Youmust haveanotherAccessPoint that’s
physicallyconnected to thewired or wirelessnetworkserving as therootAccessPoint.
Note: Ifyou needto set theAccessPoint toany of thefour modeslisted above,or ifyou want toenable
encryption,you’llneed toconfiguretheAccessPoint throughitswebconfigurationutility. For detailed
informationabout howto configure these settings, please refer to the user’s manual included in the
provided CD.
ToaccesstheAccessPoint’sweb configuration utility, you’llneed toassign astaticIP address of
10.0.0.x (wherex is anynumberbetween2 - 254) toyourcomputer.Pleasefollowthestepson the next
page to assign a static IP address.

Step 3 Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
Step 1 Right-click on My Network Places from your desktop and click on Properties. (For Windows
98, right-click on Network Neighborhood and click on Properties).
Step 2 Right-click on either Wireless Network Connection (if you’re using a wireless card to connect
totheAP), orLocalArea Connection (ifyou’reusing anEthernet cardto connect to theAP)and click
Properties.

Step 6Open the web browser and type in 10.0.0.1 in the address field andpress Enter.
Step 7Atthe loginscreen, enteradminforboth theuser nameand password, andclick OK.
Step 4 Select Use the following IP address and enter an IP address of 10.0.0.x (where x is any
numberbetween 2 - 254).Alsoenter 255.0.0.0 forthe Subnet mask and 10.0.0.1 forthe Default
gateway and click OK.
Step 5 Click Close.

Step 10 Select to enable or disable WEP encryption and click Next. If you already have WEP
encryptionenabledforyour existing wirelessnetwork,youmust enter theidenticalencryptionsettings
here.Please refer to the User’s Manual in the providedCD fordetailsabout theWEPsettings.
Step 9 ThedefaultSSIDis default andthedefault channelnumberis6.Youmayenter any SSIDand
channelnumbertomatch your currentwirelessnetwork.ClickNext.
Step 8 To setup SSID and WEP encryption, click on the Setup Wizard link and click Next.

Step 11 Click Reboot to save and apply the settings.
Note: Onceyouhave configuredthesettings, you’llneedto changetheTCP/IP settings backto dynamic
IP. Follow steps 1 - 3 of this section and change theTCP/IP properties back to “Obtain an IP address
automatically”and “Obtain DNS server address automatically.” Restartyour computerafterwards.
