Gathering Information
Step 1 From a computer connected to the router with a cable, go to Start, Run, type command (for
Windows 95/98/ME) or cmd (for Windows 2000/XP) and click OK.
Step 2Typeipconfig andpressEnter.Your network settings will be displayed.
Step 3 Write down the values for the IPAddress, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway on a piece of
paper.
Step 4 Ifyou want to set theAP431Wtoamodeotherthan anAccess Point, write down the following
valuesfor your existing wirelessrouterorAP:
1. SSID (Network Name)
2. Channel Number
3. Wireless Security Settings
TheAP431Wneedstousethe same wireless settings in order for it to work properly.Youmaygatherthis
informationfrom thewebconfiguration utility ofyourwireless router.
Step 5 Refer tothe IPAddress you’ve written down from Step 3.
Ifthe first three numbers ofyourIPAddress are192.168.1,then you do notneedtoconfigure your
computer’s IPAddress.Pleasecontinuetothe next page.
Ifthefirstthree numbers of your IPAddress arenot192.168.1,(Ex.192.168.2),thenplease refer to
Section 4 of the User’s Manualin the provided CD for instructions on how to change the IPAddress of
theAccessPoint.
