Conference system
Description
The AKG CS2 is a fully modular and cascadable, user
operated, push to talk discussion reinforcement system
available in portable tabletop format or as an installed system.
The CS2BU Base Station occupies a single rack space, the
CS2BU features intelligent functions such as automatic NOM
(Number of Open Microphones) limitation, selectable voice
activation, which can be set to automatically open
microphones as soon as they are spoken into. Other functions
include output level controls for global speakers level,
headphones, balanced outputs as well as input control for line,
aux and microphone station input level.
Delegate stations have a push to talk button as well as
individual speaker level control and 3.5 mm headphone jacks.
Chairman Stations differ from delegate stations only in that
they feature a priority button allowing the user to override all
other microphones.
All microphone stations can be customized to the individual
user through bottom panel dipswitches and pots that allow a
variety of functions to be adjusted individually. Those functions
include:
•Voice activation on/off
•Voice activation threshold
•Voice activation hold time
•Microphone auto-mute (after user stops talking)
•Enable/disable NOM limitation
•Priority override exemption
•Voice zoom on/off
•Loudspeaker/headphones level reset or last setting
•Adjustable compression
•Adjustable mic input level
Voice zoom detects and optimizes the signal arriving at each
microphone, acting like a camera’s lens “focusing”on the
sound source. The microphone “zooms in or out“to a person’s
voice, using a combination of leveler, limiter and compressor
helping to equalize different sound levels caused by varying
distances, input angles and/or source strengths.

The conference system shall be a modular, single-cable system
for quick installation. A base station shall control up to 200
microphone stations and provide expansion ports for setting up
systems with more than 200 microphone stations. The system
shall be compatible with most current types of signal sources,
recording devices, sound systems, teleconferencing systems,
etc. The system shall include a chairperson station with a priority
button. Both the chairperson station and the delegate station
shall be available in a desktop version for mobile systems and a
table mount version for fixed installation. Goosenecks in two
different lengths (approx. 12 in./30 cm and approx. 20 in./50 cm)
and five different microphone capsules for optimum voice pickup
shall also be available. All types of microphone stations shall
provide a "Voice Zoom" function and other individually
adjustable functions including voice activation, automatic mute
after prolonged pauses, noise gate, etc. The system shall be the
AKG Acoustics Model CS 2.
