Description
The major components of high-pressure pump
model 8550-C5 consists of a(n):
• reciprocating air motor
• double-acting pump tube
• lubricant return system (pump portion)
•cover
Pump Assembly
This high-pressure (50:1 ratio) pump is designed
to deliver a range of greases [up to NLGI # 3] and
operate directly from its original 120-pound container.
Lubricant Return System
Vented lubricant from the distribution system is
returned to the pump’s follower tube.
The follower tube allows the lubricant to return to
the container below the optional follower plate.

Assembly
NOTE: Refer to Figure 2 for component identi-
fication on all assembly procedures.
CAUTION
Select a clean environment for all assembly proce-
dures. Prevent contamination from foreign mate-
rial. Damage to components can occur.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to remove the pro-
tective cover from the inlet of Pump Assem-
bly (1).
1. Remove the ’’knock-out’’from Cover (10) that allows
access for lubricant return Tube (6).
IMPORTANT: Do not apply thread sealant
to the first two (2) threads of any connection.
Contamination can occur.
2. Screw the compression connector assembly [with
thread sealant] into the pump’s follower tube.
• Tighten the Connector securely.
• Make sure to orient the connector’s tube in the
required direction while tightening.
3. Install Pump Assembly (1) into Cover (10).
4. Secure the Pump Assembly to the Cover with
Washers (11), Lock Washers (12), and Cap Screws
(13).
• Tighten the Capscrews securely.
5. Install the Follower Tube onto the Pump.
• Make sure to align the Tube with the hole in the
Cover.
6. Tighten the setscrew that secures the follower tube to
the pump’s adapter.
7. Guide the pump’s follower tube into the optional
follower plate and fit the Cover onto the container.
8. Secure the Cover to the container with Thumb Screws
(14).
9. Test/Prime the Pump assembly.
