1 Safety Information
Please read this operating instruction
manual thoroughly.
Intended use
The telephone is suitable for telephoning
within a public telephone network system.
Any other use is considered unintended use.
Unauthorised modification or reconstruction
is not permitted. Under no circumstances
open the device or complete any repair work
yourself.
Installation location
Prevent excessive exposure to smoke, dust,
vibration, chemicals, moisture, heat and
direct sunlight.
Power supply
Caution: Only use the power adapter plugs
supplied because other power supplies
could damage the product. Ensure access
to the power adapter plug is not obstructed
by furniture or such.
Power failure
Only the telephone base can be used when
there is a power failure. See page 22.
Rechargeable batteries
Do not throw the batteries into a fire or
immerse them in water.
Hearing aid compatibility
The telephone is compatible with most
popular hearing aids on the market.
However, due to the wide range of hearing
aids available, there is no guarantee that the
telephone will function ‘problem free’ with
every model.
Caution: This telephone is capable of
producing very high volume levels when
the ‘Boost’ is switched on and the volume
control is set to maximum. Extreme caution
should be taken if the handset is to be
shared between users with normal hearing
and those with hearing impairment.
Medical equipment
DO NOT use your telephone near
emergency/intensive care medical
equipment; if you have a pacemaker fitted or
during an electrical storm.

Connecting the charger base
Connect the charger base as illustrated in
the diagram. For reasons of safety, ONLY
USE the power adaptor plug supplied.
Mains power outlet
Inserting the batteries
Insert the 2 x AAA 1.2V 800mAh NiMH
rechargeable batteries supplied, into the
handset battery compartment. Take care to
note the ‘+’ and ‘-’ markings and position the
batteries the correct way around. Close the
battery compartment cover.
Caution: ONLY USE the rechargeable
800mAh NiMH batteries supplied. Under
no circumstances should Alkaline battieres
ever be used.
Charging the batteries
Place the handset in the base to charge for
a minimum of 15 hours before first use.
Private branch exchanges
The information on Page 53 explains how
to install your telephone on a private branch
exchange.
Connecting and charging your wrist shaker
1. Plug the wrist shaker charger base into the
mains power socket and switch on. Please
make sure that:
- the base is on a flat and stable surface
- the mains power cable reaches the socket
easily and is not a trip hazard
- the base is at least 1 metre away from
other electrical appliances to avoid
interference
- it is not in a damp or very humid place,
such as a bathroom.

For safety reasons, ONLY USE the power
adaptor plug supplied.
2. Your wrist shaker has an internal
rechargeable battery, which must be fully
charged for 10 hours before you attempt to
register it to your PowerTel Telephone.
Place the wrist shaker in the charger base,
with the two little connection points in the
side facing downwards.
If the wrist shaker is the correct way around
in the charger base, a red light above the
battery symbol will turn on. Your wrist
shaker is now charging.
Rechargeable battery
On a full charge the battery in your wrist
shaker should last for 5 days in normal use.
When the battery is low the larger red led will
turn on and flash slowly.
Place your wrist shaker in the charger base
for at least 10 hours to recharge the battery.
SOS Motor
You will need to turn on the ‘SOS Motor’
feature on your telephone for your wrist
shaker to vibrate when you receive an
incoming call.
1. At the telephone press the left hand menu
button under the display .
2. Press up on the large central round
button, to move to ‘SOS Motor’. Press the
menu button again.
3. Use the and down buttons to scroll to
‘On’ and press the menu button again to
select. ‘Saved’ is displayed.
Your wrist shaker is now ready for use.

Adjusting the Handsfree volume, cordless

There are 5 handsfree volume levels
available. The ‘35dB’ feature is not available

Everyone’s hearing is different and some
people can hear higher frequencies more
clearly that others. Press the button to
adjust the tone and high frequencies within a
call, until it’s right for you.

volume can reduce when you set the tone
control to a frequency higher or lower than
normal. This is a normal effect. Please use
