PS 4 SETUP
1. Ensure the Mode Switch on the Base Station is set to PS4.
2. Plug Micro end of the Micro USB cable into the Base Station and the USB end into
the PlayStation 4.
3. Plug TOSLink Optical Cable into the PS4 Optical Port and plug the other end into the
Optical In Port on the Base Station.
4. Your A50 Wireless Headset comes pre-paired to the Base Station. However, you will
need to charge your headset before use. To do so, use both hands to reseat the
headset into the Base Station.
5. Once the Base Station is connected to the PS4, the Base Station will detect
automatically as a USB device.
6. From the Dashboard, navigate to Settings then select Devices and select Audio
Devices.
7. Ensure Input Device is set to USB Headset (Astro A50 Voice) and the Output Device is
set to the same.
8. Ensure the Output to Headphones is set to Chat Audio.
9. Navigate back to the Settings menu, then select Sound and Screen.
10. Navigate to Audio Output Settings, and ensure Primary Output Port is set to Digital
Out (Optical) and Audio Format (Priority) is set to Bitstream (Dolby).
11. Change the Input and Output Device to USB Headset (ASTRO Wireless Transmitter).
12. To toggle to a new EQ preset, press the EQ Button until the desired preset is selected.
13. That’s it! Your A50 Wireless Headset and PS4 are set up and ready to game!

PC/Mac SETUP
1. Ensure the Mode Switch on the Base Station is set to PC.
2. Plug the Micro end of the Micro USB cable into the Base Station and the USB end into
your PC.
3. PC: Navigate to your Playback Devices tab in your Sound settings on your PC.
MAC: Navigate to your Settings, select Sound, then Output and choose Digital Out.
Your Mac is ready at this point!
4. Select ASTRO A50 Game, right click and set as Default Device.
5. Select ASTRO A50 Voice, right click and set as Default Communication Device.
6. Navigate to your ‘Recording Devices tab in your Sound settings on your PC.
7. Select ASTRO A50 Voice, right click and set as Default Device & Default
Communication Device.
8. That’s it! Your A50 Wireless Headset and PC are set up and ready to game!

●How to install firmware on the Gen 2 A50 Headset and TX Transmitter
To install firmware on your A50 and TxD please go to the following website:
astrogaming.com/firmware
Download both the most recent version of the TxD and headset firmware and locate them in
your PC or Mac.
Once downloaded, plug in the TxD to your computer via the USB. The optical connection is not
required. Using the charging USB, plug your A50 headset into the back of the TxD.
Now that you are hooked up to the PC, run and complete both firmware installations one at a
time. The A50 headset must be plugged into the back of the TxD to update.
NOTE: You will need to re-sync the TxD and headset after the installation is complete. How to
do this is below.
Make sure the A50 headset and TxD are synced together. To do this, turn on the A50. After the
headset is fully on, press and hold the power button on the A50 headset until it begins
flashing white. Once flashing, press and hold the power button on the TxD until it begins to
flash white as well. Both should flash white and return to being red.
●A50 Gen 2 One Channel Audio Issue (Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360)
1. Make sure the A50 headset and TxD are synced together. To do this, turn on the A50.
After the headset is fully on, press and hold the power button on the A50 headset until
it begins flashing white. Once flashing, press and hold the power button on the TxD
until it begins to flash white as well. Both should flash white and return to being red.
2. Make sure your optical cable is fully plugged into the back of the TX Unit port that
reads “Optical In” and the other end of the cable is plugged firmly into your gaming
console.
3. Next, make sure the volume wheel on the headset is turned up to a reasonable
volume.
4. Ensure that the game voice balance on the right ear cup of the headset is somewhere
in the middle.

●A50 Gen 2 Game Audio Issues (Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360)
Here are a few steps you can take to attempt to remedy the issues.
1. Make sure the A50 headset and TxD are synced together. To do this, turn on the A50.
After the headset is fully on, press and hold the power button on the A50 headset until
it begins flashing white. Once flashing, press and hold the power button on the TxD
until it begins to flash white as well. Both should flash white and return to being red.
2. Make sure your optical cable is fully plugged into the back of the TX Unit port that
reads “Optical In” and the other end of the cable is plugged firmly into your gaming
console.
3. Next, make sure the volume wheel on the headset is turned up to a reasonable
volume.
4. Ensure that the game voice balance on the right ear cup of the headset is somewhere
in the middle.
5. Please test our equipment on a different gaming console and or PC and see if you’re
experiencing similar issues.

●Headset is no long charging or powering on A50 Gen 2
If the A50 headset is not responding to on/off press and hold the power button to begin
pairing the unit. Once it turns white and begins to flash, press the button again and see if the
headset powers off.
Allow the A50 headset to completely drain the battery.

●I cannot hear players in chat A50 Gen 2
Make sure the A50 headset and TxD are synced together. To do this, turn on the A50. After the
headset is fully on, press and hold the power button on the A50 headset until it begins
flashing white. Once flashing, press and hold the power button on the TxD until it begins to
flash white as well. Both should flash white and return to being red.
Make sure the USB Connections on your console and TxD are fully inserted.

You will need:
●A50 Headset
●A50 TxD
●TxD USB Power Cable, Optical Cable, A50 Charge Cable
1. First, ensure the A50 Headset and TxD have the most recent firmware installed.
Connect the A50 Headset to the TxD USB Port in order to update it on your PC.
2. Connect the TxD to your PS3. Insert the TxD USB Power cable to the rear USB Port and
connect the Optical cable to the TxD and PS3 optical connection located on the rear.
3. Next, turn on your PS3 and wait for it to load to the home screen.
4. Navigate to the “Accessory Settings” and continue to “Audio Settings” and make sure
your input and output devices are selected to “Astro Wireless TxD”.

5. Next, scroll down and select “Sound Settings”. Under Sound settings, select “Audio
Output Settings” and select “Optical Digital”. Make sure “Dolby Digital 5.1 Ch” is
selected.
6. Turn your A50s on and ensure they are paired to the TxD and game and voice balance
on the left ear is at 50/50. You are now ready to use your A50s.

You will need:

●TxD USB Power Cable, Optical Cable, A50 Charge Cable
1. First, ensure the A50 Headset and TxD have the most recent firmware installed.
Connect the A50 Headset to the TxD USB Port in order to update it on your PC.
2. Connect the TxD to your PS4. Insert the TxD USB Power cable to the front USB Port and
connect the Optical cable to the TxD and PS4 optical connection located on the rear.
3. Next, turn on your PS4 and wait for it to load to the home screen.
4. Go into the Settings tab on your top bar of your PS4 home screen. Go to →Settings →
Sound and Screen→Audio Output Settings→Primary Output Port→Digital
Out(optical)→then check Dolby Digital 5.1 ch then hit OK.
5. Under the Audio Output Settings menu select Output to Headphones and make sure
Chat Audio is selected and not All Audio.
Also under the Audio Output Settings menu select Audio Format (priority) and make
sure Bitstream (Dolby) is selected and not Linear PCM.
6. Turn your A50s on and ensure they are paired to the TxD and game and voice balance
on the left ear is at 50/50. You are now ready to use your A50s.
