CS-82A Quick Start Guide
Installation
1. Make sure that power to all the devices you will be connecting @NUM1 = Make sure that
power to all the devices you will be connecting up have been turned off. You must unplug
the power cords of any computers that have the Keyboard Power On function. To prevent
damage to your equipment due to ground potential difference, make sure that all devices
on the installation are properly grounded.
2. Plug your keyboard, mouse, and monitor into the unit’s Console Ports.
3. Use KVM cable sets (as described in the Cables section in the User Manual), to connect
any available CPU Port to the Keyboard, Video and Mouse ports of the computer you are
installing.
Note: If your computers use AT style connectors for the keyboard, and/or standard serial
connectors for the mouse, refer back to the note in the Cables section in the User
Manual.
4. If you choose to use external power (optional) plug the power adapter into an external AC
source; plug the power adapter cable into the unit s power jack as shown in the diagram.
5. Turn on the power to the computers.
Note: The Power On default is to link to the first computer you turn on.

Operation
Manual Port Selection
Simply press the Port Selection switch that corresponds to the port that the computer you
want to access is attached to. The Selected LED lights to indicate which port is active.
Hotkey Port Selection:
Hotkey Port Control provides KVM focus to a particular computer directly from the keyboard.
MYou can toggle between the two computers by pressing and releasing the left or right Ctrl
key twice [Ctrl]+[Ctrl].
Note: The combination must be on the same side: [Left Ctrl]+[Left Ctrl], or
[Right Ctrl]+[Right Ctrl].
MYou can automatically switch between the two computers at 5 second intervals (Auto
Scan) by pressing and releasing the Left Shift key, then pressing and releasing the Right
Shift key: [Left Shift]+[Right Shift].
Once scanning begins, it continues until you press the [Spacebar] to exit Auto Scan Mode.
While Auto Scan Mode is in effect, none of the other keyboard keys will function. You must
exit Auto Scan Mode by pressing the [Spacebar] in order to regain use of the console.

Activity Meaning
Off Port is not selected.
On (Steady) Port is connected to an active computer.
Flashing (On and Off equal) Port is connected to an active computer and is being accessed in
Auto Scan mode.
