11. Turn the power switch on
Configuring remote start for single controller solutions
The switch for remote start is found on the connector board located behind the front access door.
Whenever enabling remote start you must for safety reasons implement an emergency stop solution.
When using portable hand-held or portable hand-guided tools (such as tools used with torque reac-
tion devices), remote start must be disabled by setting the switch on the controller to OFF. This is
done to make it impossible to override the safety function within the tools.
Emergency stop in Power Focus 600
Power Focus 600 is equipped with an emergency stop function with redundant breaking according to EN
ISO 13849-1 category 3 PL d. It provides a safe system that can be used with hand-held tools and sys-
tems.
The emergency stop function can be used with a supply disconnecting device (such as an EM Stop but-
ton). When pressed down, it breaks the supply voltage to the controller. The event 3040 Emergency stop
is displayed.
For the emergency stop and reset there is a 24 V DC output through the emergency stop terminal on the
connector board.
The cable connecting the EM Stop button to the controller is a 0.7 mm2 cable with a maximum length of
400 meters.
Configuring emergency stop
The Power Focus has an external EM Stop interface on the connector board that is located behind the
front access door.
Connector: Phoenix, 6-pin Headers 3.5mm pitch

Installing the IP54 module
The Power Focus controller is classified as IP54. To achieve the classification IP54 of the Power Focus
controller you need to install the IP54 module.
The IP54 module consists of two parts, one cable plug and one insulation wall. Lubricator for tightening is
also enclosed.
Installing the cable plug
CAUTION
■Make sure that the mounting surfaces of the cable connector hole and the surfaces on the cable plug
are clean. If there is dust or moisture it may not thighten accurately.
The cable plug is protection fromt dust and other particles, when there is no tool cable attached to the con-
troller.
Make sure that the cable plug is pushed in all the way. The maximum distance, between the bottom sur-
face of the controller and the surface of the cable plug, must be no more than 14mm.
Installing the insulation wall
Required tools
■Allen key
1. Open the front cover of the controller by pressing the latch on the front. Insert the IP54 insulation wall
by sliding the grooves over the inner walls inside the controller.
2. Remove the screw and the wall cover. Remove one or several of the blue insets, depending on the
number of cables used in the controller.
3. To insert a cable, remove the black core of one of the conduit entries. The insets can be used for ca-
bles with a diameter of 3.5 - 10.5 mm. For cables with a diameter larger than 3.5 mm remove rubber
layers until the cable fits tightly.
Apply the enclosed lubricator on all the blue surfaces to make sure the insulation is tightened
sufficiently.
Put the blue insets back into the insulation wall and connect the cables.
4. Put the wall cover back into position. Make sure that the blue insets are positioned inside the corre-
sponding grooves of the wall cover. Tighten the screw with an Allen key. Close the front cover of the
controller.

Operation
Ergonomic guidelines
Consider your workstation as you read through this list of general ergonomic guidelines and see if you can
identify areas for improvement in posture, component placement, or work environment.
■Take frequent breaks and change work positions frequently.
■Adapt the workstation area to your needs and the work task.
■Adjust for convenient reach range by determining where parts or tools should be located to avoid
static load.
■Use workstation equipment such as tables and chairs appropriate for the work task.
■Avoid work positions above shoulder level or with static holding during assembly operations.
■When working above shoulder level, reduce the load on the static muscles by reducing the weight
of the tool, using for example torque arms, hose reels or weight balancers. You can also reduce
the load on the static muscles by holding the tool close to the body.
■Make sure to take frequent breaks.
■Avoid extreme arm or wrist postures, particularly for operations requiring a degree of force.
■Adjust for convenient field of vision by minimizing movement of the eyes and head during the work
task.
■Use the appropriate lighting for the work task.
■Select the appropriate tool for the work task.
■Use ear protection equipment in noisy environments.
■Use high-quality inserted tools or consumables to minimize exposure to excessive levels of vibration.
■Minimize exposure to reaction forces.
■When cutting:
A cut-off wheel can get stuck if the wheel is either bent or if it is not guided properly. Make sure to
use the correct flanges for cut-off wheels and avoid bending the wheel during cut-off operation.
■When drilling:
The drill might stall when the drill bit breaks through. Makes sure you use support handles if the
stall torque is too high. The safety standard ISO11148 part 3 recommends using something to ab-
sorb the reaction torque above 10 Nm for pistol grip tools and 4 Nm for straight tools.
■When using direct-driven screw or nutrunners:
Reaction forces depend on tool setting and joint characteristics. The ability to bear reaction forces
depends on the operator’s strength and posture. Adapt the torque setting to the operator's strength
and posture and use a torque arm or reaction bar if the torque is too high.
■Use dust extraction system or mouth protection mask in dusty environments.
