smartHEAD INSTALLATION GUIDE

GENERAL
The smartHEAD, to be installed on the STwrench and MRTT-C,
defines the wrench capacity. You can install or change the smartHEAD
without the need of any further settings or calibration: the STwrench
and STanalyser loads automatically the transducer data at the power
on.
PACKAGE
Refer to the check list included for the package list.
SAFETY
Warning: Read the STwrench Product Instruction (No. 9836 4489 00) and MRTT-C User Guide (No.
9836 5984 01) before installing and using the product.
HANDLING
The module is electrostatic sensitive device; DO NOT touch any electrical contact to avoid risk of
module damages.
If possible, before handling any STwrench modules, touch with your hand a big metallic object,
in order to avoid electrostatic discharges while handling the modules.
Observe the following precautions to handle the module:

INSTALLING THE smartHEAD on the STwrench
1. SWITCH OFF THE STwrench.
2. INSERT THE smartHEAD IN THE WRENCH CONTROLLER AND TIGHTEN THE LOCKING NUT UNTIL
WHEN THE “CLICK” IS HEARD
NOTE: there is only one way to insert the smartHEAD into the wrench controller. The guide and
the reference pin must be inserted in the relative housings; do not force them in other position.
3. TURN ON THE STwrench
4. IF THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SHOWN, CHECK THE DATE AND SELECT YES TO CONTINUE
AND USE THE smartHEAD (the first use date is set at the date shown):

Selecting No the first date is not set, but the smartHEAD is blocked. The messsage above is
shown again at the next STwrench power on.
5. IF THE smartHEAD IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SHOWN:
NOTE: each smartHEAD is intended to be associated to a single STwrench controller!
The smartHEAD interchangeability assures easy and fast maintenance operations and wrench
upgrade. IMPORTANT NOTE:
Assembling different heads on the same controller during the normal wrench operations is an
improper use of the modularity concept, and will invalidate the warranty on the wrench
components.
The smartHEAD should be left always connected to the controller. For example, do not
disassemble it at the end of the day of for wrench transportation.

6. DISCONNECT THE MRTT-C FROM THE STanalyser / STa 6000.

7. INSERT THE smartHEAD IN THE MRTT-C AND TIGHTEN THE LOCKING NUT UNTIL WHEN THE
“CLICK” IS HEARD

8. CONNECT THE MRTT-C TO THE STanalyser / STa 6000 AND TURN ON THE STanalyser / STa 6000
9. IF THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SHOWN ON STa 6000, CHECK THE DATE AND SELECT YES TO
CONTINUE AND USE THE smartHEAD (the first use date is set at the STa 6000 date):

shown again at the next STa 6000 power on.
10. IF THE smartHEAD IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED THE Transducer Error MESSAGE IS SHOWN.
