Warnings
Do not use any solvents or cleaning materials when cleaning the video monitor.
Do not use any abrasive cleaners, they may scratch the screen.
Use only a lightly dampened lint free cloth to wipe the screen if it is dirty.
Lock the LCD screen in the fully closed position when not in use.
Before putting on headphones always adjust the volume setting to the lowest position.
Remember to leave the dome light switch in the off or auto positions when the vehicle
is unattended, as the dome lights, if left on, can drain the vehicle’s battery.
Do not put pressure on the screen.

A.Introduction
Thankyou for selectingthe MMD70. The main features include a 7"
Wide Screen(16:9AspectRatio)LiquidCrystal Display (LCD)monitor
and abuilt-inDVD player. The unit applies the latest state ofthe art
electronics. Theunit is constructedto provideyearsof reliable,
trouble-free service. Please read theentire instruction manual sup-
plied with this product prior to operation. The documentation will as-
sistyouininstallingthesystemproperly to obtainthebest equipment
performance. Pleasestore this manual forlater use.
B. Cautions and Warnings
1. Installation
Ensure thatthe MMD70 isinstalled in accordance with theinstruc-
tions and illustrations provided in this manual.
2. Object and Liquid
Do not push objects ofany kind into the unit through openings; do
notspill or sprayliquid ofany kind on orin the system (this may
result in a fire or electric shock). Toensure proper ventilation and
properoperation,nevercover or blocktheslots and openings with
a cloth or other material.
3.Disassembly
Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet. There is ariskofelec-
tricshock and/orexposure to LaserRadiation. Contact qualified
service personnel ifyour system is in need of repair.
4.Cleaning Unit
When cleaning, makesurethe systemis unplugged fromthepower
source.Do not useliquid cleanersor aerosol cleaners.Use a
clothlightlydampenedwith water forcleaning the exteriorof the
systemonly.

5. Disc
Do not use irregularlyshaped discs such asheart orstar-shaped
discs as theymay cause the unittomalfunction.Donotstickpaper,
tapeor glue on the disc. Do not expose thedisc to direct sunlight
or heat sources such as hot air ducts. Do not touch the surface of
disc.Handlethe discbyits edge. Cleanthediscby wiping thedisc
from thecenter outwith acleaning cloth. Removethe disc from
theunit andstoreitinitscaseafterplaying.Someplaybackopera-
tions of discs may be intentionallyfixedbysoftwareproducers.
Since this unit plays discs accordingto the disc contents the soft-
wareproducersdesigned,some playbackfeaturesmay notbe
available. Also refer to the instructions supplied with the discs.

GENERAL INSTALLATIONAPPROACH:
1)Decide upon system configuration and options that will be installed
(i.e.: what components, VCP,Tuner,RF Modulator/externalamp,
remoteheadphones, DVD, etc.).
2)Reviewall manuals to become familiar withelectrical requirements
and hookups.
3)Decideupon mounting locations of all componentsandmethodof
mounting.
4)Prep the vehicle by removing anyinteriortrim necessary to gain ac-
cess to vehicle'swiring as well asall areas whereinterconnecting
wire harnesseswillneed to belocated.Ifany access holes need to
be cut intothevehicle(headliner,other trim components etc.), this
should be done nowas well.
5)Route the wiring harnesses throughout the vehicleas necessary.
(Refer to theWiringDiagrams on page10 of this manual as wellas
the wiringinstructions for the individual components and accessory
options being installed).Besure thatall wiring isprotected from
sharpedges and is routed in such amannerthatitwill notbe pinched
whenall components andinterior trim arefully installed. Be sure to
leaveenoughslack inthewiringateachcomponenttoallowworking
room.
6)Remove allA/V system components fromtheirpackaging and place
them looselyin the vehicle at their respective locations.
7)Connectallcomponents together(electrically)and verifyproper op-
erationof all system functions.Note:This is bestdoneBEFORE
components have been permanentlymounted.
8)Afterverifyingproper operation ofthe system,proceed tomounteach
ofthecomponents.
9)When all components are mounted, recheckfunction ofentire sys-
tem againto ensure that no wiring was pinched or connected im-
properlyduringfinal installation.

Notes :TheMMD70 video system is only intended foran overhead,
drop downinstallation.Itisnotintended forseat back or any other
type of mounting. Thehinging mechanismis designedfor horizontal,
drop down use only.
VEHICLE PREPARATION:
1)Locateanaccessorypowersource (+12v whenkeyisin theACC.
and run positions, and 0v when key is off). Generally, thiswire can
be found at the ignition switch or fuse-box.
2)The mountingmethod and location will vary from vehicle to vehicle,
so this manual will only focuson the installation ofthevideo monitor
and related consoleaccessories.
3)Generally,the bestlocationforthevideomonitor iswherethevehicle's
factory domelight isinstalled. The monitorshouldbelocated in
suchamannerthatitcan be comfortablyviewed byrearseatpassen-
gers. NEVER INSTALL THE MONITOR IN A PLACE WITHIN THE
DRIVER'SVIEW.THISISNOTONLYDANGEROUS,BUT ITIS
ALSO ILLEGAL.
4)Once the mounting locationof the monitor has been determined,
there maybe additional preparation worknecessary, dependingon
the vehiclestructure and installation method.Someof the steps
thatmaybe required are:
A)Removal ofthe vehicle's dome light.
B)The headliner may need to be trimmed.

1)Make the connections to the vehicle with the 5 pin wiring harness.
2)Connect the 5pin harnessto the matingconnector onthe Video
Monitor.
3)Connect powerharnessto vehicle's electrical systembytapping
into an accessoryhot line.
4)Verifyallfunctions ofthesystem beforefinal mountingofthefinished
assembly.
NOTE: AVCPorother A/VComponent can be connected tothe
video monitorsystem using an RCAA/V cable.This secondhar-
nesswould plug intotheAV1inputs or AUXjack.

CONNECTINGTHEDOME LIGHTS
Thedomelightsinthe video monitor requirethreeconnections tothe
vehicle'swiring. Therearetwocommon typesof domelight circuits
used, positiveor negativeswitched. Positivesystems supply voltageto
theinteriorlights toturnthemon, negative switched systems apply
ground toilluminate the bulbs. Todetermine which systemyou have
youmust locate the wires atthe domelight.On apositive switched
system,with all the doors closed and the lights out, both wiresat the
domelight will rest at ground. Whenthe light isactivated, oneofthese
wires will switch to +12V DC. This is the vehicle's switchingwire. On a
negativeswitched system, withall the doorsclosedandthe lightsout,
bothwires at thedomelight will rest at + 12VDC.When the lightis
activated,one of thesewires will switchto ground. This isthe switching
wire.
Forpositivesystems, connect the violet/ brown (Lamp auto) wire to the
vehicle'sswitched wire. Then connect the red / black(lamp on) wire to
afusedconstant12 voltsourceandtheblack /red(lamp common)wire
toagoodground.Positive systemsarecommonlyfoundonFord
vehicles.
For negative systems,connect the violet /brown(Lamp auto) wire to
the vehicle'sswitchedwire.Thenconnect thered /black (lampon) wire
to a good ground andthe black/red(lamp common) wire to fusedcon-
stant12voltsource. Negative systemsarecommonlyfoundonGen-
eral Motors and import vehicles.
Note:
Some vehicleswhichincorporate transistorized control of the dome
light circuit,such asthe1999DodgeCaravan, mayrequirethatthe
violet/brown(Lampauto)wirebeconnected tothedoor pin switch
wire, as the additionalcurrentdraw ofthe Monitor'slights may not be
supportedbytheoutput of thevehicles bodycontrol computer.

ADVD isdividedinto sections calledtitlesand chapters. Whenyou
play a DVD,aroot menu ofthedisc will appearonthescreen ofyour
TV or Monitor. Contents ofthe menu willvarydependingon the disc
content. Press MENU duringplaybacktodisplaythemainmenu.
Some DVDs only allowyou to select disc playbackoptions usingthe
DVD root menu.

Duringplayback press ‘REPEAT’once to repeatedly play thecurrent
chapter, pressa 2nd time to repeat the current title, press a 3rd time
and the repeat function is cancelled and normal playbackresumes.

J.PLAYING AUDIOCDS
Whenplayinganaudio CDthedisplaywillautomatically displaythe
discplaybackinformation. Theoptionsbelowshow youwhat
information is displayed. Press the DISPLAY’button toremove the
display.

USING THEREPEATFEATURE
Thedefault modefor the Repeat feature isOFF. Pressing REPEAT
consecutively changes the repeat options:
•RepeatSingle-repeats the track that is playing.
•RepeatAll- repeats the disc that is playing.
•Off
Asyou togglethroughtheoptions,therepeat option changes.The
selected repeat option loops repeatedly until its turned off.
K.PLAYINGMP3 DISCS
MP3isadigitalaudioformat. An audioCD-quality song iscompressed
into the MP3 format with no significant lossofaudio quality. CD-R /
RW discsthat havebeen encoded inMP3format arecompatible
with this device.
Insert aMP3Disc,the DVD player willinitializethe discand the directory
(folder) will beshown on the monitor screen.
MENU Screen’Display
When an MP3 disc is inserted intothe unit, the menu screen appears
automatically.You can use the menu screen to change foldersand
songs. Thesystem playsthesongsin the order they were recorded
onto the disc.
1.Press the or buttonto choose a folder fromthe folder list
onthe leftside ofthescreen.
2.Press ENTERto selectthe highlightedfolder.Allsongs avail-
able under theselected folder will be listed.
3. Use or buttonto chooseasong from thelistthenpress
ENTER to play the selected song.
