Anetworkrouterallowsproductsonaprivatenetwork(LAN)toshareasingleconnectiontotheinternet.Thisisdonebyforwarding
networktrafcfromtheprivatenetworktotheinternet.
Mostroutersarepre-conguredtostopattemptstoaccesstheprivatenetwork(LAN)fromthepublicnetwork(internet).
IftheAxisproductislocatedonanintranet(LAN)andyouwanttomakeitavailablefromtheother(WAN)sideofaNAT(Network
AddressTranslator)router,turnonNATtraversal.WithNATtraversalproperlycongured,allHTTPtrafctoanexternalHTTPport
intheNATrouterisforwardedtotheproduct.

Secrepasswords
Important
Axisdevicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoverthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeviceaftertherstlogin,set
upasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionandthenchangethepassword.
Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.

Howtosettherootpassword
ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot
Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.
Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS
certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The
HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage25.
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe
resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage33.
Tosetthepassword,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.
TheOverviewpage
TheOverviewpageintheproduct’swebpageshowsinformationaboutthedoorcontroller’sname,MACaddress,IPaddress,and
rmwareversion.Italsoenablesyoutoidentifythedoorcontrolleronthenetwork.

Whenusingthecomputertime,dateandtimearesynchronizedwiththecomputertimeonceandwillnotbeupdatedautomatically.
Thismeansthatifyouchangethedateortimeonthecomputeryouusetomanagethesystem,youshouldsynchronizeagain.

Whenyouhaveselectedadooroptioninthenewhardwareconguration,youcancongurethedoormonitorsandlocks.
1.Ifadoormonitorwillbeused,selectDoormonitorandthenselecttheoptionthatmatcheshowthedoormonitor
circuitswillbeconnected.
2.Ifthedoorlockshalllockimmediatelyafterthedoorhasbeenopened,selectCancelaccesstimeoncedoorisopened.
Ifyouwanttodelaytherelock,setthetimeofthedelayinmillisecondsinRelocktime.
3.Specifythedoormonitortimeoptionsor,ifnodoormonitorwillbeused,thelocktimeoptions.
4.Selecttheoptionsthatmatchhowthelockcircuitswillbeconnected.
5.Ifalockmonitorwillbeused,selectLockmonitorandthenselecttheoptionsthatmatchhowthelockmonitorcircuits
willbeconnected.
6.Iftheinputconnectionsfromreaders,REXdevices,anddoormonitorsshallbesupervised,selectEnablesupervisedinputs.

•LongaccesstimeSetthenumberofsecondsthedoorshallremainunlockedafteraccesshasbeengranted.Longaccess
timeoverridesthealreadysetaccesstimeandwillbeenabledforuserswithlongaccesstimeselected.
SelectDoormonitortomakethefollowingdoortimeoptionsavailable:
•OpentoolongtimeSetthenumberofsecondsthedoorisallowedtostayopen.Ifthedoorisstillopenwhentheset
timehasbeenreached,thedooropentoolongalarmistriggered.Setupanactionruletocongurewhichactionthe
opentoolongeventshalltrigger.
•Pre-alarmtimeApre-alarmisawarningsignalthatistriggeredbeforetheopentoolongtimehasbeenreached.It
informstheadministratorandwarns,dependingonhowtheactionrulehasbeensetup,thepersonenteringthedoor
thatthedoorneedstobeclosedtoavoidthedooropentoolongalarmtogooff.Setthenumberofsecondsbeforethe
dooropentoolongalarmistriggeredthesystemshallgivethepre-alarmwarningsignal.Todisablethepre-alarm,set
thepre-alarmtimeto0.

Abotlockoptions
Thefollowinglockcircuitoptionsareavailable:
•RelayCanonlybeusedononelockperdoorcontroller.Iftwodoorsareconnectedtothedoorcontroller,arelaycan
onlybeusedonthelockoftheseconddoor.
•NoneOnlyavailableforLock2.Selectifonlyonelockwillbeused.
Thefollowinglockmonitoroptionsareavailableforsingle-doorcongurations:
•LockmonitorSelecttomakethelockmonitorcontrolsavailable.Thenselectthelockthatshallbemonitored.Alock

HowtocongrereadersandREXdevices
Whenyouhaveconguredthedoormonitorsandlocksinthenewhardwareconguration,youcancongurethereadersand
requesttoexit(REX)devices.
1.Ifareaderwillbeused,selectthecheckboxandthenselecttheoptionsthatmatchthereader’scommunicationprotocol.

3.IfconnectingmorethanonereaderorREXdevicetothedoorcontroller,dotheprevioustwostepsagainuntileach
readerorREXdevicehasthecorrectsettings.
AbotreaderandREXdeviceoptions
Thefollowingreaderoptionsareavailable:
•WiegandSelectforreadersthatuseWiegandprotocols.ThenselecttheLEDcontrolthatissupportedbythereader.
ReaderswithsingleLEDcontrolusuallytogglebetweenredandgreen.ReaderswithdualLEDcontrolusedifferentwires
fortheredandgreenLEDs.ThismeansthattheLEDsarecontrolledindependentlyofeachother.WhenbothLEDsareon,
thelightappearstobeamber.Seethemanufacturer’sinformationaboutwhichLEDcontrolthereadersupports.
•OSDP,RS485halfduplexSelectforRS485readerswithhalfduplexsupport.Seethemanufacturer’sinformation
aboutwhichprotocolthereadersupports.
ThefollowingREXdeviceoptionsareavailable:
•ActivelowSelectifactivatingtheREXdeviceclosesthecircuit.
•ActivehighSelectifactivatingtheREXdeviceopensthecircuit.
