TheLiveViewageintheroductrovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
roles.Otheralicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,withoutcomromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comaredwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragesace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofrotocolsandmethodstousedeendsonyourviewingrequirements,andontheroertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailableotionsinAXISMediaControlare:
UnicastRTPThisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused

Multicastingrovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof
clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,assanetworkrouterunlessthe
routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexamle.
Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof20
simultaneousconnections.
AXISMediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisroducttodeterminethetransortrotocoltouse.Theorderofriority,listedinthe
AMCControlPanel,canbechangedandtheotionsdisabled,tosuitsecicrequirements.
