Therearedifferentexposuremodeoptionsinthecamerathatadjustsaperture,shutterspeed,andgaintoimproeimagequalityfor
specicsureillancescenes.GotoSettings>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:

Yourcamerausesisiblelighttodeliercolorimagesduringtheday.Astheaailablelightdiminishes,youcansetthecamerato
automaticallyshifttonightmode,inwhichthecamerausesbothisiblelightandnear-infraredlighttodelierblack-and-white

Whenyousetupaiewarea,werecommendyoutosettheideostreamresolutiontothesamesizeasorsmallerthantheiewarea

Coosevideocompressionformat
Decidewhichcompressionmethodtousebasedonyouriewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesofyournetwork.The
aailableoptionsare:
MotionJPEG
MotionJPEGorMJPEGisadigitalideosequencethatismadeupofaseriesofindiidualJPEGimages.Theseimagesarethen
displayedandupdatedataratesufcienttocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlyupdatedmotion.Fortheiewertoperceiemotion
ideotheratemustbeatleast16imageframespersecond.Fullmotionideoisperceiedat30(NTSC)or25(PAL)framespersecond.
TheMotionJPEGstreamusesconsiderableamountsofbandwidth,butproidesexcellentimagequalityandaccesstoeeryimage
containedinthestream.
H.264orMPEG-4Part10/AVC
Note
H.264isalicensedtechnology.TheAxisproductincludesoneH.264iewingclientlicense.Installingadditionalunlicensed
copiesoftheclientisprohibited.Topurchaseadditionallicenses,contactyourAxisreseller.
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalideolebymorethan80%comparedtotheMotion
JPEGformatandbyasmuchas50%comparedtotheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforaideole.Orseenanotherway,higherideoqualitycanbeachieedforagienbitrate.

HowdoImage,Stream,andStreamprolesettingsrelatetoeacoter?
TheImagetabcontainscamerasettingsthataffectallideostreamsfromtheproduct.Ifyouchangesomethinginthistab,it
immediatelyaffectsallideostreamsandrecordings.
TheStreamtabcontainssettingsforideostreams.Yougetthesesettingsifyourequestaideostreamfromtheproductanddon’t
specifyforexampleresolution,orframerate.WhenyouchangethesettingsintheStreamtab,itdoesn’taffectongoingstreams,but
itwilltakeeffectwhenyoustartanewstream.
TheStreamprolessettingsoerridethesettingsfromtheStreamtab.Ifyourequestastreamwithaspecicstreamprole,the
streamcontainsthesettingsofthatprole.Ifyourequestastreamwithoutspecifyingastreamprole,orrequestastreamprole
thatdoesn'texistintheproduct,thestreamcontainsthesettingsfromtheStreamtab.
