Repaintingmadeonthisproduct,whicharenotapprovedbyAxisCommunicationsAB,willvoidAxisproductwarranty.Thus,Axis
CommunicationsABonlywarrantstheAxisproductinitsoriginalform.
Ifrepaintingneverthelessismade,thefollowingconditionsandinstructionsarerecommended:
Anyandallstandardprecautionsshouldbetakentobackupdatathatisbusinesscritical.
TheprocedureofrepaintingwillnotbesupportedbyAxistechnicalsupport.
Thepurposeofdisassemblingandreassemblingtheproductistorepaintonly.
Thedisassemblingandreassemblingiscarriedoutinaprofessionalandcarefulmanneranddoesnotintervenewith
normaloperationoftheproducts.
Inaddition,theproductperformancemayalsodeteriorateduetotherepaintingaccordingtothefollowing,non-exhaustive,list:
Paintaddsweighttotheproduct,thereforespeedandaccelerationmaybeaffected.
Darkercolorsabsorbmoresunlight.Thetemperaturespecicationoftheproductmaybelimited.
Increasedfrictioninthejointsoftheproductincreasesstrainandmayaffectthelifetimeexpectancy.
Anypaintusedmustbecompatibleandnon-damagingtoplastics[andglass?SåstårdetIlistannedan.
TheAxislabelwiththeproductpartnumberandserialnumbermustbeclearandlegibleatalltimes.
Repaintingmayonlybedonetothecasingand/orstandoftheproduct.Undernocircumstancesmaybubblesand/or
lensesberepainted.
Repaintingmaychangethetolerancesinthemechanicsandobstructtheassemblyoftheproduct.

Riskswithrepainting
ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Thereisalwaysacertainyieldlossduringassembly.
Trainingofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediatessomeoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Some
oftherisksarelistedbelow:
ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD
damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheequipment.
Dustcontamination-Openingacameramayexposethelensandsensortodustorpaint;dustwillaffecttheopticalperformance.
Lensesneedtobedisassembledinadust-freeenvironment,preferablyacleanroom.
Paintoverspray-Maskingofthedifferentcomponentsoftheequipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascouldcause
problemswithassemblingtheequipment.Anyareasthatarenotpaintedfromfactoryorhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthanthe
restofthepart(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.

Disassembly
1.Removethepancover,thebottomcover,andthemountingbracketfromthecameraunit.
2.Removethecablelidfromthebottomcover.

Preparations
Theequipmentmustbedisassembledaccordingtoinstructionsowtorepainttheproductonpage3.
Eachpartisthenstrippedfromcomponentsandcrucialpartsaremaskedtoensuresuccessfulreassembly.
Allpartstoberepaintedshouldbestrippedofgaskets,screws,electricalcomponents,connectorsandplugs,windows
anddomes.
Allpartstoberepaintedmustbethoroughlycleanedtoremovegrease,dustoroil.
Toensurereassemblyandfunctionalityoftheproduct,openingsforscrews,LEDindicators,ormicrophonesmust
bemaskedbeforepainting.

Pretreatmentofparts
Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofpaintappliedfromfactory,differentpretreatmentsshouldbedoneforthenewpaintto
adhereaswellaspossible.Forallvariantsthough,propercleaningtoremoveoil,greaseanddustisstronglyrecommended.
Forinformationaboutwhichmaterialsareusedintheproduct,seethedatasheetavailableatwww.axis.com
Powdercoatedparts-Usingverynesandpaper(P240),removetheoriginalpowdercoatingdowntothestainlesssteelsurfaceand
cleanthepartsbeforepainting,oruseprimer.
Anodisedandchromatedparts-Primerisrequired.
Uncoatedstainlesssteel-Nospecialpretreatmentisneeded.Justmakesurethesurfaceiscleanbeforepainting.
Plastic-Primerisrequired.

1.Makesureallnecessarypreparationsofthepancover,thebottomcover,andthecablelidhavebeenmade,see

2.Applyathinandevenlayerofspraypaintaccordingtotheinstructionsofthepaintmanufacturer.
3.Letthepaintdry.
4.Togetabettercoverageandclearercolor,applyasecondlayerofspraypaint.
5.Whenthepaintisdry,removethemasking.
