Capturemodes
Acapturemodeisapresetcongurationthatdeneshowthecameracapturesimages.Thecapturemodesettingcanaffectthe
camera’seldofviewandaspectratio.Theshutterspeedcanalsobeaffected,whichinturnaffectsthelightsensitivity.
Thelowerresolutioncapturemodemightbesampledfromtheoriginalresolution,oritmightbecroppedoutfromtheoriginal,in
whichcasetheeldofviewcouldalsobeaffected.
Theimageshowshowtheeldofviewandaspectratiocanchangebetweentwodifferentcapturemodes.
Whatcapturemodetochoosedependsontherequirementsfortheframerateandresolutionofthespecicsurveillancesetup.For
specicationsaboutavailablecapturemodes,seetheproduct’sdatasheetataxis.com.
Replaethelens
1.Stopallrecordingsanddisconnectpowerfromtheproduct.
2.Disconnectthelenscableandremovethestandardlens.
3.Attachthenewlensandconnectthelenscable.

Seletexposuremode
Toimproveimagequalityforspecicsurveillancescenes,useexposuremodes.Exposuremodesletsyoucontrolaperture,shutter
speed,andgain.GotoVideoImageExposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
Reduenoiseinlow-lightonditions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoVideoImageExposureandmovetheBlur-noisetrade-off
slidertowardLownoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.

Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.
Note
Whenyoureducethemaxgain,theimagecanbecomedarker.
•Setthemaxgaintoalowervalue.
•Ifpossible,opentheaperture.
•Reducesharpnessintheimage,underAppearance.
Reduemotionblurinlow-lightonditions
Toreducemotionblurinlow-lightconditions,adjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettingsinVideoImageExposure:
•MovetheBlur-noisetrade-offslidertowardLowmotionblur.
Note
Whenyouincreasethegain,imagenoisealsoincreases.
•SetMaxshuttertoashortertime,andMaxgaintoahighervalue.

•MovetheApertureslidertowardOpen.
Ifyoustillhaveproblemswithmotionblur:
•Increasethelightlevelinthescene.
•Mountthecamerasothatobjectsmovetowarditorawayfromitratherthansideways.

Ifyouusealenswithalargeraperture,thedepthofeldgetsshallower.
•Changetoalenswithalargeraperture.
Maximizethedetailsinanimage
Important
Ifyoumaximizethedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•Makesuretoselectthecapturemodethathasthehighestresolution.
•GotoVideoStreamGeneralandsetthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•Belowtheliveviewimage,clickandinVideoformat,selectMJPEG.
•GotoVideoStreamH.264andH.265encodingZipstreamandselectOff.
Handleseneswithstrongbaklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

Stabilizeashakyimagewitheletroniimagestabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.

TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.

4.Youcanseethenumberofpixelsforeachoftherectangle’ssides,anddecideifthevaluesareenoughforyourneeds.
Optimizetheimagefortrafsurveillane
Togetthebestpossibleimagefortrafcsurveillance,usetheAXISTrafcWizardincombinationwiththeTrafcoverviewscene
prole.
1.GotoSettingsApps>AXISTrafcWizard.
2.Starttheapplicationifitisnotalreadyrunning.
3.Tosetuptheapplication,clickOpen.
4.Selectunits(metricorimperial).
5.EnterthevaluesforRoaddistance,Cameraheight,VehicledistanceandMaxspeed.
6.Tomakebothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible,turnonWDR.
7.Settheleveloflow-lightgaindependingonthelightconditions.
8.IfexternalIRilluminationisavailable,selecttheSupplementalIRilluminationcheckbox.
9.ClickSave.
10.GotoSystem>Orientation.

Viewarea
Aviewareaisacroppedpartofthefullview.Youcanstreamandstoreviewareasinsteadofthefullviewtominimizebandwidth
andstorageneeds.IfyouenableTZforaviewarea,youcanpan,tiltandzoomwithinit.Byusingviewareasyoucanremoveparts
ofthefullview,forexample,thesky.
Whenyousetupaviewarea,werecommendyoutosetthevideostreamresolutiontothesamesizeasorsmallerthantheviewarea
size.Ifyousetthevideostreamresolutionlargerthantheviewareasizeitimpliesdigitallyscaledupvideoaftersensorcapture,
whichrequiresmorebandwidthwithoutaddingimageinformation.
Pan,tilt,andzoom(PTZ)
Guardtours
Aguardtourdisplaysthevideostreamfromdifferentpresetpositionseitherinapredeterminedorrandomorder,andforcongurable
periodsoftime.Oncestarted,aguardtourcontinuestorununtilstopped,evenwhentherearenoclients(webbrowsers)viewingthe
images.
Createaguardtourwithpresetpositions
Aguardtourdisplaysthevideostreamfromdifferentpresetpositionseitherinapredeterminedorrandomorder,andforcongurable
periodsoftime.
1.GotoPTZlegacydeviceinterface.
2.Inthelegacydeviceinterface,gotoPTZGuardtours.
3.Click+.
4.Toedittheguardtour’sproperties,click.
5.Typeanamefortheguardtourandspecifythepauselengthinminutesbetweeneachtour.
6.Ifyouwanttheguardtourtogotothepresetpositionsinarandomorder,turnonShufe.
7.ClickDone.
8.ClickAddtoaddthepresetpositionsthatyouwantinyourguardtour.
9.ClickDonetoexittheguardtoursettings.
10.Toscheduletheguardtour,gotoSystemEvents.

Aprivacymaskisauser-denedareathatpreventsusersfromviewingapartofthemonitoredarea.Inthevideostream,privacy
masksappearasblocksofsolidcolororblurredimageelements.
You’llseetheprivacymaskonallsnapshots,recordedvideo,andlivestreams.
YoucanusetheVAIX®applicationprogramminginterface(AI)tohidetheprivacymasks.
Important
Ifyouusemultipleprivacymasksitmayaffecttheproduct’sperformance.
Youcancreateseveralprivacymasks.Themaximumnumberofmasksdependsonthecomplexityofallthemaskscombined.The
moreanchorpointsineachmask,thefewermasksyoucancreate.Eachmaskcanhave3to10anchorpoints.
