hePRZfeatureisonlyintendedforinstallationpurposes.hePRZpageappearsinthesetupsequencewhenstartingthecamera
forthersttime,orafteraresettofactorydefault.ochangethePRZsettings,seeSetPTRZandfocusonpage8.
WiththePRZ(Pan,ilt,Roll,Zoom)featureyoucanremotelymoveyourcamerainseveraldirectionstocompletetheinstallation
withoutphysicallyadjustingthecamera.

CapturemodedenesthemaximumframerateavailableintheAxisproduct.Dependingonwhichcapturemodeyouselect,you
maynotbeabletouseWDR.
Acapturemodeconsistsofaresolutionandthecorrespondingframerateavailableintheproduct.hecapturemodesetting
affectsthecamera’seldofviewandaspectratio.

Whatisaprivacymask?
Aprivacymaskisauser-denedareathatpreventsusersfromviewingapartofthemonitoredarea.Inthevideostream,privacy
masksappearasblocksofsolidcolororblurredimageelements.
heprivacymaskisrelativetothepan,tilt,andzoomcoordinates,soregardlessofwhereyoupointthecamera,theprivacy
maskcoversthesameplaceorobject.
You’llseetheprivacymaskonallsnapshots,recordedvideo,andlivestreams.
YoucanusetheVAPIX®applicationprogramminginterface(API)toturnofftheprivacymasks.

Usingmultipleprivacymasksmayaffecttheproduct’sperformance.

herearedifferentexposuremodeoptionsinthecamerathatadjustsaperture,shutterspeed,andgaintoimproveimagequalityfor
specicsurveillancescenes.GotoSettings>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:

Ifyoumaximizedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•Makesuretoselectthecapturemodethathasthehighestresolution.
•Setthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•SelectMJPEGstreaming.

StailizeashakyimagewithElectronicImageStailization(EIS)
EIScanbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjecttovibrations,forexample,wind
orpassingtrafc.urnonEIStogetasmootherandsteadierimagewithoutblur.
EISalsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthebitrateofthevideostream.

Barreldistortionisaphenomenonwherestraightlinesappearincreasinglybentclosertotheedgesoftheframe.Awideeldofview
willoftencreatebarreldistortioninanimage.Barreldistortioncorrectionwillcompensateforthisdistortion.

Viewarea
Aviewareaisacroppedpartofthefullview.Youcanstreamandstoreviewareasinsteadofthefullviewtominimizebandwidth
andstorageneeds.IfyouenablePZforaviewarea,youcanpan,tiltandzoomwithinit.Byusingviewareasyoucanremoveparts
ofthefullview,forexample,thesky.
Whenyousetupaviewarea,werecommendyoutosetthevideostreamresolutiontothesamesizeasorsmallerthantheviewarea
size.Ifyousetthevideostreamresolutionlargerthantheviewareasizeitimpliesdigitallyscaledupvideoaftersensorcapture,
whichrequiresmorebandwidthwithoutaddingimageinformation.
