CAUTION: Metra recommends disconnecting the
negative battery terminal before beginning any
installation. All accessories, switches, and especially
air bag indicator lights must be plugged in before
reconnecting the battery or cycling the ignition.

aftermarket radio.

From the 16-pin harness with stripped leads to the aftermarket radio:
• Connectthe(2)Redwirestotheaccessorywire.
Note: If installing the ASWC-1, there will be an accessory wire in the
12-pin harness to connect as well.
• ConnecttheOrange/White wiretotheilluminationwire.Iftheaftermarket
radiohasnoilluminationwire,tapeofftheOrange/Whitewire.
• ConnecttheWhite wiretotheleftfrontpositivespeakeroutput.
• ConnecttheWhite/Blackwiretotheleftfrontnegativespeakeroutput.
• Connectthe Gray wiretotherightfrontpositivespeakeroutput.
• ConnecttheGray/Blackwiretotherightfrontnegativespeakeroutput.
• ConnecttheBlue/White wiretotheampturn-onwire.
Note: This wire must be connected to turn the interface on.
• ConnecttheBrown wiretothemutewire.Iftheaftermarketradiodoesnot
haveaMutewire,tapeupthe Brown wire.Ifthe Brownwireisnotconnected,
theradiowillturnoffwhenOnStarisactivated.
Thefollowingwiresarefortheaftermarketradiosthathavenavigationbuiltin:
• ConnecttheLight Greenwiretotheparkingbrakewire(ifapplicable).
• ConnecttheBlue/Pinkwiretothespeedsensewire(ifapplicable).
• Connectthe Green/Purplewiretothereversewire(ifapplicable).
From the GMOS-LAN-09 harness:
(a) 16-pin harness to the aftermarket radio:
• ConnecttheYellowwiretothe12-voltbatterywire.
• ConnecttheBlack wiretothegroundwire.
• ConnecttheGreenwiretotheleftrearpositivespeakeroutput.
• ConnecttheGreen/Blackwiretotheleftrearnegativespeakeroutput.
• ConnectthePurplewiretotherightrearpositivespeakeroutput.
• ConnectthePurple/Blackwiretotherightrearnegativespeakeroutput.
(b) 22-pin harness to the aftermarket radio:
• TheBlack/YellowwireisfortheOnStarvolumeadjustment.Thiswillbe
discussedintheOnStarLevelAdjustmentsectionofthisinstruction.
• TheDINconnectorisforusewiththeoptionalAX-LCD(soldseparately).This
willgiveyoutheoptionofchangingthesettingsinyourpersonalizationmenu.
(c) 20-pin harness to the aftermarket radio:
• ConnecttheWhiteRCAtotheaftermarketradio’sleftAudioAUXin.
• ConnecttheRedRCAtotheaftermarketradio’srightAudioAUXin.
Note: To retain the factory 3.5mm jack, the radio must have an Audio AUX in.

• Connectthe16-pinharnesswithstrippedleadsintotheinterface.
• Connectthe14-pin,16-pinand20-pinharnessintothevehicle.
• Withallconnectionscompleted,reconnectthenegativebatteryterminal.
• Initializetheinterfacebyturningtheignitiononfor30seconds,thenturnthe
ignitionbackoff,thenbackonagain.
Note: If using the ASWC-1, connect it after you initialize the GMOS-LAN-09,
with the key in the off position.

Connections to be made
(d) 12-pin pre-wired ASWC-1 harness:
• ThisharnessistobeusedinconjunctionwiththeoptionalASWC-1(not
included)toretainsteeringwheelcontrols.IftheASWC-1isnotbeing
used,disregardthisharness.Ifitwillbeused,pleaserefertotheASWC-1
instructionsforradioconnectionsandprogramming.
Note: Disregard the harness that comes with the ASWC-1.
To the aftermarket radio:
• ConnecttheRedwiretotheaccessorywire.
• PushtheOnStarbutton;theradioshouldmute,andyoushouldheartheOnStar
voice.PushtheOnStarcancelbutton;theradioshouldun-muteandplayagain.
Note: The radio will turn off instead if the mute wire is not connected.
Testing the GMOS-LAN-09
To the vehicle:
• ConnecttheGreen/Blackwireto Green/Blackwireintheblack,8-pin
connectorbelowthesteeringcolumn,onthebottomside.(FigureA)
Note: The relay attached to the GMOS-LAN-09 harness is only for audible turn
signal clicks. No extra steps are required to retain this feature, so leave the
relay as-is.

harm to the vehicle or to safety systems on the
vehicle. Interference with certain safety systems
could cause harm to persons as well. If you have
any questions in this regard please call the Help
line or Metra at 1-800-221-0932 for assistance.
Chime Volume Adjustment:
• Withthevehicleon,turnitoffandleavethekeyintheignition.Openthedriver’sdoor;
chimeswillbeheard.
• Wait10seconds,andthenwithasmallscrewdriver,turnthepotentiometerclockwisetoraise
thechimelevel;counterclockwisetolowerthechimelevel.
Note: The potentiometer is located on the side of the interface where the 16-pin harness with
stripped leads is connected to.
• Whenthechimelevelisatadesiredlevel,removethekeyfromtheignition.Thiswilllockthe
chimevolumeatitscurrentlevel.
OnStar Level Adjustment
• PresstheOnStarbuttontoactivateit.
• WhileOnStarisspeaking,presstheVOLUMEUPorVOLUMEDOWNbuttonsonthesteeringwheel
toraiseorlowertheOnStarlevel.
• Ifthevehicledoesnotcomeequippedwithsteeringwheelcontrols,findtheBlack/Yellowwireon
the22-pinharness.
• WhileOnStarisspeaking,taptheBlack/Yellowwiretoground.OncetheOnStarlevelisset, 
itwillstayatthatleveluntiltheBlack/Yellowwireistappedtogroundagain.
