About the Router
The Aztech DSL5008EN(X) ADSL2+ 4-ports 300Mbps Wireless-N Mode Router with USB
Host uses co plete Ralink chipset solution that fully co plies with ADSL2/ADSL2+
standard. The DSL5008EN supports 2T2R with PHY rate up to 300Mbps.
Targeted at the residential and SOHO users that desires high quality triple play services, it
is the ideal solution to provide a 6 in 1 device for both Wired and Wireless connectivity
via a ADSL2+ built in ode , Routing functionality for ulti-user sharing, double-layer
NAT/SPI firewall, 4 port 10/100 AutoMDI/MDIx Managed Switch for video application
QoS, high speed IEEE802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Access point and USB host (optional) for
network printing and NAS.
Aztech DSL5008EN is TR-069 co pliant. TR-069 is a DSL foru technical specification
report that defines the re ote control/configuration of CPE fro ACS (Auto Configuration
Server), TR-069 is also well-known as "CPE WAN Manage ent Protocol". The benefits of
TR-069 include, re ote anage ent, auto-configuration, dyna ic service activation, as
well as saving cost on custo er support and logistics.
Security is provided via a double Stateful Packet Inspection and NAT based firewall.
Hardware accelerated AES/WEP/WPA/WPA2 based encryption/MAC Address Filtering for
Wireless links. Multiple session VPN Pass-through and DMZ support provide additional
security support for teleco uters as well as allow flexibility while aintaining security
against alicious hackers. Dyna ic DNS give users the flexibility of hosting a web or an
FTP server with various do ain na es.
With Universal Plug and Play support, ho e networking beco es a breeze for everyone
in the fa ily. Multi Port Range/Popular Application Forwarding akes it even easier to
select which application you want your network to allow while ensuring your security at
the sa e ti e.

Planning Your Network
Before oving ahead to setup your network, it is a good idea to draw out a network
diagra to help identify your network devices and plan out how to connect these
devices. The illustration below is an exa ple of a network diagra .
Each port in the router can be used for different connections. For exa ple:

• Ethernet 2 – Dad’s Co puter (PC1)

Remove or Disable Conflicts
To ake sure the router installation oves on s oothly, you need to re ove or disable
conflicts that ay interfere the installation. Probable conflicts ay include:
 Internet sharing applications
 Proxy software
 Security software
 TCP/IP settings
 Internet properties
 Te porary Internet files
Internet Sharing, Proxy, and Security Applications
Internet sharing, proxy software, and firewall applications ay interfere with the router
installation. These should be re oved or disabled before start the installation.
If you have any of the following or si ilar applications installed on your co puter,
re ove or disable the according to the anufacturer’s instructions.

Configuring TCP/IP Settings
Check if your co puter uses the default TCP/IP settings.
To check the TCP/IP properties:
1. Select Start > Run. This opens the Run dialog box.
2. Enter control ncpa.cpl and then click OK. This opens the Network Connections in
your co puter.
3. Right-click LAN and then select Properties. This opens the Local Area Connection
Properties dialog box.
4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties. This opens the Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog box.
5. Select Obtain an IP address auto atically.
6. Click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box.
Configuring Internet Properties
To set the Internet Properties:
1. Select Start > Run. This opens the Run dialog box.
2. Enter control inetcpl.cpl and then click OK. This opens Internet Properties.
3. Click Connections tab.
4. In the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings pane, select Never dial a
connection.
5. Click OK to close Internet Properties.

Re oving Te porary Internet Files
Te porary Internet files are files fro Web sites that are stored in your co puter. Delete
these files to clean the cache and re ove footprints left by the Web pages you visited.
To remove temporary Internet files:
1. Select Start > Run. This opens the Run dialog box.
2. Enter control and then click OK. This opens Control Panel.
3. Double-click Internet Options. This opens Internet Options.
4. In the Te porary Internet Files pane, click Delete Cookies.
5. Click Delete Files.
6. Click OK to close Internet Properties.

When installing the router, find an area where there are enough electrical outlets for the
router, the ain co puter, and your other co puter devices.
To setup the router:
1. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable fro the router’s ETHERNET

the other end into the Ethernet port in your co puter.
2. If you have another device you need to connect through wire into the router, use
another piece of Ethernet cable. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable fro the
co puter’s Ethernet port and then plug the other end into an available Ethernet
port in the router.

Your phone line carries with it both phone calls and Internet signals. When you are
using the Internet, the connection produces high-pitched tones that can affect your
voice calls when using the phone. Installing a Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS)
splitter separates the two signals and eli inates the noise.

a. Locate the phone jack in your house.
b. Insert the POTS Splitter into the phone jack.
c. Plug one end of the telephone cable fro the POTS Splitter’s TEL
TELTEL

the other end into the telephone.
4. Connect the power adapter fro the router’s 12V 1.0A DC port into the electrical
outlet.

Connecting to the Internet
You can use the Web Interface to setup your Internet connection.
Connecting Via Quick Setup
To connect to the Internet via the User mode GUI:
1. Launch the web browser and input 192.168.1.1 on the address bar.
2. Input ad in for userna e and input ad in for password. Click the Login button.
3. Click Quick Setup.
4. Enter the Region settings.
a. Select your Ti e Zone
b. Select an NTP server
5. Enter the WAN connection settings.
c. Select a Connection Type
d. Enter the PPP Userna e and Password
e. Enter the VPI and VCI configuration (This infor ation will co e fro your
Internet Service Provider)

6. Enter the Wireless Settings.
f. Ensure that WLAN Enabled and Broadcast SSID are checked
g. Enter your desired Wireless Network Na e or SSID
h. Put a check on WPA/WPA2 Enabled to setup a secured wireless network
i. Enter your desired wireless password or Passphrase
7. Click the Apply button to co it the settings.

1. Launch the web browser and input 192.168.1.1 on the address bar.

3. Click Wizard and read the onscreen instructions, then click Next

Advanced Setup provides configuration options for other router functions.
Accessing the Advanced Web Interface
To access the Advanced Web Interface:
1. Launch your web browser.
2. Input 192.168.1.1 on the address bar and press Enter.
3. There will be an authentication request where you need to key in a userna e and
password. Default Userna e: ad in | Password: ad in
