1. Expandable/Retractable deck quickly
and easily adjusts to 35”, 39”, and 42”
with two quick-release ball-detent pins
on each side.
2. Quick adjustment is ideal for moving
through narrow doorways.
3. All pins are attached to the bed with
lanyards, eliminating lost parts.
4. Wide head and footboards are available
in both 39” and 42” widths (both sold
separately).
5. Rails and assist devices feature quick-
release systems - no tools are required
for assembly of these devices. (Please
refer to your bed model’s particular
Service Manual for more details).

SLEEP DECK P SITI NING - 3 H LE VARIATI NS
1. Your Expandable/Retractable
Sleep Deck can be set into
three positions:
a. Fully retracted = 35.00”
b. Expanded partly = 39.00”
c. Fully expanded = 42.00”
2. To adjust the deck positions,
first remove the quick-release
“detent” pins from underneath
the sleep deck.
3. The outside hole in the deck’s
mounting tubes is for a 35”
bed (decks ully retracted).
Push the decks fully inward
on both sides of the bed and
re-insert all the detent pins
through the holes at all four
corners shown (1, 2, 3, & 4).
4. The inside hole in the deck’s
mounting tubes is for a 42”
bed (decks ully expanded).
Remove the detent pins and
pull the decks fully outward
on both sides of the bed. Now
re-insert all the detent pins
through the holes at all four
corners shown.
5. The center hole in the deck’s
mounting tubes is for a 39”
bed (decks partly expanded).
Remove the detent pins and
pull the decks outward until
the center hole aligns with the
main frame holes. Re-insert
all the detent pins.

1. The Headboard comes with four pre-installed inserts -
consider this the inside of the bed (toward center).
2. Attach the boards as shown using the 40mm hex drive
bolts that came with your Panel Mounting Kit.
a. Align top holes in board with TOP holes
in the mounting tubes.
b. From the outside of the tubes, insert the
hex drive bolts and screw them into the
board inserts.
c. Insert a second set in the THIRD holes
down on the tubes and screw into board.
3. Slide the “ ” portions of the Mounting Tubes into the hollow
ends of the main frame rails at the head deck end. Align
the first hole in the mounting tube with the first or second
hole in the main frame rail (see 76” and 80” positions
below). From the outside, insert the attached “detent”
pin (with Lanyard) through the holes. The recessed ball
on the pins should extend out the other side of the rail.

1. The Footboard comes with four pre-installed inserts -
consider this the inside of the bed (toward center).
2. Attach the boards as shown using the 40mm hex drive

b. From the outside of the tubes, insert the

down on the tubes and screw into board.
3. Slide the “ ” portions of the Mounting Tubes into the hollow
ends of the main frame rails at the foot deck end. Align
the first hole in the mounting tube with the first or second
hole in the main frame rail (see 76” and 80” positions
below). From the outside, insert the attached “detent”
pin (with Lanyard) through the holes. The recessed ball
on the pins should extend out the other side of the rail.

IMP RTANT
1. The Expandable/Retractable Sleep Deck features two sets of two unique Mattress Retainers
that are positioned in the corners at both the head end and foot end of the bed.
2. To install, position the mattress retainer above the sleep deck corners, with rod ends
perpendicular to the sleep deck surface. ong crooked bent ends go on outside.
3. Insert the rod ends into the appropriate 80” bed or 76” bed holes
(see insert - bottom right).
4. Once engaged, tilt the retainer toward the corner so
that the retainer’s “elbows” rest on the deck.

REPLACEMENT F EXPANDABLE/RETRACTABLE SLEEP DECK
1. The Expandable/Retractable
- Sleep Deck Assembly includes
- Two (2) identical Head Sections,
- Two (2) identical Knee Sections,
- Two (2) identical Seat Sections,
- One (1) right-hand Foot Section &
- One (1) left-hand Foot Section.
2. Begin by sliding a Knee Section
(999-0881-012) into the long
cylindrical tubes on both sides
of the knee deck. Slide
all the way in.
3. Slide the left-hand Foot
Section (999-0881-011)
into the square tubes
on the left side of
the foot deck.
4. Do the same
for the right-hand
side of the bed with
Foot Section (999-0881-014).
Slide both left and right sides all
the way in.
5. Next, slide a Head Section
(999-0881-013) into the square
tubes on both sides of the
head deck. Slide all the way in.
6. From the outside, insert a small
.75” Carriage Bolt (100-5231-001)
through the square hole in the
Foot Section mounting brackets.
From the inside, screw on a
5/16-18 ock Nut. Hand tighten.
7. astly, slide a Seat Pan Extension
Bracket onto both ends of the seat
pan. The end bracket should set
over end hole in the head section
and knee section.
8. From the outside, insert a small
.75” Carriage Bolt (100-5231-001)
through each square hole in the
Seat Pan mounting brackets and,
from the inside, screw on a 5/16-18
ock Nut. Tighten all nuts using a
1/2” open wrench or socket.
