For Bedfont® ToxCO® Monitor
Before using any of the above equipment, the Operang Manual should be read and fully
understood.
Washing hands before and aer tesng is highly recommended for both operator and user as
part of a sensible infecon control regime.
The monitor uses a SteriBreath™ mouthpiece that connects to the monitor via a D-piece™.
SteriBreath™ mouthpieces are single-use only as re-use can increase the risk of cross-infecon.
The D-piece™ contains a one-way valve to prevent paents drawing air back from the monitor.
An integrated infecon control lter removes and traps >99% of airborne bacteria and >97% of
viruses1.
Bedfont® recommends that the D-piece™ is replaced every 28 days or if visibly soiled. The
D-piece™ cannot be sterilised as this process may aect the posioning of the valve. It is
possible that saliva can build up inside the D-piece™ if they are not replaced regularly, which
may over me aect the valve and ecacy of the lter material.
It is preferable that, where possible, the user aaches their own SteriBreath™ mouthpiece to
the D-piece™ before the breath test, and detaches and disposes of it once the test is complete.
Whilst the user is exhaling, the operator should avoid posioning themselves in front of the
exhaust port of the instrument.
